Huh, this...this...this feeling of déjà vu is really...
"However, my father was a scumbag who loved to philander. He had relationships with so many women that you couldn't count them on one hand. At first, he could keep it from my mother, but later she found out. At that time, my mother was already pregnant with me. For my sake, she had no choice but to suppress her grief and pretend not to know."
"And then?" I asked.
"Later, my mother gave birth to me. She continued to live with my father. And then... there was no more." The brat chuckled softly, appearing utterly indifferent.
"Why not?" I asked, puzzled.
"Because they're all dead." The brat suddenly seemed to have changed his face, becoming incredibly ferocious, his eyes fixed on me with the cold, merciless gaze of a monstrous python.
"How could you—" I started to say, but then my head spun, and I was horrified. Although my strength was now less than one-thousandth of my peak, I was still an angel-level fighter. How could this happen?!
"This tea, there's something wrong with this tea?!" I suddenly realized this, and then stared at the brat with a look of horror on my face.
"That's right! The tea contained a potent psychoactive poison that I extracted myself! Just one milligram is enough to kill a shark! I used this to kill my father, Sakamoto, back then! It's just a pity for my mother, Shinonome Nana, who actually committed suicide for that man! Fortunately, I was able to preserve a sliver of her consciousness and erase all her memories of Sakamoto. Afterward, I created a machine body for her!"
"You, you, you?!" I uttered "you" three times in a row. Finally, everything blurred. Fortunately, no matter how strong the brat was, no matter how potent the poison, it could only harm my body; my soul remained unharmed. However, at that moment, the dizziness I had already experienced twice struck again, and after a sharp pain, I finally lost consciousness…
The End of the World in Haruhi Suzumiya
The prologue: Tearing each other apart benefits no one.
And so, this battle-hardened veteran was sent back to earth by a bottle of poison from a brat. It's incredibly frustrating to think about. I only knew the brat was wicked and ill-mannered, but I never imagined she could be so ruthless, personally poisoning her father and driving her mother to her death.
A little girl killed her own parents and then created a new set of parents for herself. It sounds utterly bizarre, yet I happened to witness it. I hope that brat only wants to kill me. Otherwise, given her abilities and cunning, the Dongyun Research Institute might be littered with corpses.
But it's no use saying anything now. I rolled my eyes and groaned in pain. Then I stood up and stretched my limbs. Afterwards, I looked at Belikka, the Grim Reaper, with a cold gaze and a knowing smile.
"You've really fooled me," I said, then gave a cold snort.
"Really?" Bellica feigned ignorance.
I snorted coldly, but didn't argue any further. This might surprise Bellica.
"What? Don't you want to fight me like last time? Or have you fallen in love with me and can't bring yourself to do it?" Bellica said.
"You seem to have quite a high opinion of yourself." I scoffed. "I won't do something so self-humiliating again."
"Is that so?" Bellica feigned innocence, tilting her head to the side. "Speaking of which, you were practically a high-ranking god before. And then you were reduced to nothing in an instant. Don't you feel any resentment?"
"You probably know better than I how I came to be a high-ranking god," I sneered. "Back then, you poured a lot of random energy into my body. But I never expected that just piecing things together like that would create a high-ranking god."
"What's wrong? Isn't getting something for nothing the dream of most people?"
"If that were all there was to it, I wouldn't be the kind of person to be so rigid." I chuckled lightly. "However, this cobbled-together high god of mine carries a great hidden danger. You couldn't possibly be unaware of that, could you?"
"After all, it's a hodgepodge of dozens of different elemental powers. It took me a lot of effort to get them in balance within your body."
I gave a soft hum and said nothing more. Back in Hell, I had already discovered this problem. Although my strength had improved rapidly compared to those so-called Demon Lords, it was still far from what I had expected. The various energies were mottled and complex, which, while granting me more techniques, also led to a dispersion of power.
Besides, Bellica's ability to balance dozens of energies is indeed real. This is something I also have to expend a lot of energy maintaining the balance of various elements in my body when training. It's both troublesome and much more dangerous. Making breakthrough progress is impossible.
Therefore, I pondered this repeatedly in Hell and discovered a method to safely force consciousness into a corner of the soul. After that, driven by unfortunate circumstances, I hardened my heart and abandoned my entire soul, leaving only the hellish magic I had painstakingly accumulated over hundreds of thousands of years, and the purest, most terrifying power of death. The energy I gained through blood sacrifice in the mortal world was ultimately transformed into hellish magic.
Of course, this doesn't mean my remaining soul fragments are useless. Given time, I can transform and absorb all the scattered power within them. Even if this takes a little longer and some energy is lost, it won't be much; on the contrary, my combat power will increase significantly.
After that, Bellica circled around me once and then said, "According to the ranking system, your current level is roughly equivalent to a four-winged angel. Hmm... because the strongest aspects are the negative power of death and the power of hell. Therefore, you are still a fallen angel. A four-winged fallen angel, an undead."
"A fallen angel, a ghost? Sounds pretty good." I said nonchalantly, "Then, send me to the next world."
"Not throwing a tantrum anymore?" Hearing me say this, Bellica didn't rush to attack, but instead said with a light laugh.
"Why are you getting emotional?" I scoffed. "It's a win-win situation. You want to see a monkey perform, so I'll perform for you."
Upon hearing my words, Bellica bit her lip, her expression displeased: "Why such self-deprecation? You must know that in the countless planes of the multiverse, there are hundreds of trillions of intelligent beings. You are unique—"
“Toys?” I interrupted her, saying, “What’s so great about that? Or have you become so arrogant that you think others will bow down to you and be willing to be your lackey?”
Bellica hesitated, looking quite sad, which surprised me a little.
But I quickly composed myself. The damage she had inflicted on me was far too deep. And it seemed that this damage would continue. Therefore, I didn't want to say anything more to her until I possessed power comparable to hers.
"Can't you just comfort me a little?" She sighed helplessly. "It's like how you comfort other girls in other dimensions."
"Even if it's a lie, you'd still believe it?" I asked.
To everyone's surprise, Bellica actually nodded: "That's right, even if it's a lie."
"Is it a request or an order?" I asked.
"Is all you do is make me angry?" Bellica said angrily.
"No, no, no, since it's a toy, it should act like a toy." I bowed to her, then pretended to kneel on one knee: "My princess, your toy reports for duty. Are you going to mistreat me, mistreat me, or mistreat me?"
“You…” Bellica was so angry that she trembled all over. She couldn’t help but raise her hand and want to slap my face, but when the moment came, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
"You ungrateful bastard!" Bellica cursed.
I shook my head helplessly, feeling that this Grim Reaper, in a sense, was no smarter than an average female cat, or perhaps even less intelligent.
"Don't get me wrong, we're just using each other. That's all." I repeated that point again.
"Hmph... Mutual exploitation, huh?" Bellica's lips curled up in a malicious smile, but the anger in her eyes only grew stronger.
“Then let me devise a more comprehensive mechanism for this ‘mutually beneficial’ relationship,” she said, before asking, “You should know what RPG games are all about, right?”
“Sorry, I’m not very familiar with this,” I replied.
“…I almost forgot. I erased your memories from your very first life.” Bellica said, then snapped her fingers like I did. Suddenly, some things appeared in my brain—memories of computer games from my previous life.
This guy has quite a few quirks, all of which seem to have been learned from me. Is he a parrot?
"So, this mechanism is similar to that of an RPG game. You can think of it as an interaction between the player and NPCs. You complete certain tasks and earn points. Then you can exchange those points for things you want here."
"Including what?"
"It includes everything."
Could you be more specific?
"...Have you ever read any novels in the 'infinite flow' genre?"
"What is 'infinite flow'?"
"..." Bellica put a hand to her forehead, then snapped her fingers, and then some more things appeared in my mind.
"I'd like to ask something now."
"What is it? Tell me."
"Can my previous actions be converted into points?"
"No."
"Are you kidding me?!"
"However, given your previous contributions, it wouldn't be right not to give you something in return... Hmm, how about this: I can grant you three not-too-outrageous wishes."
"No need, two will do: let my power surpass yours, and then you commit suicide."
"Don't go too far."
Finally, after some haggling, we settled on these three wishes: First, I wanted a set of armor of the same grade as the Heaven-Slaying Sword, with a style that could change according to my wishes. So Bellica gave me a Fallen Angel's Robe, including a silver-gray robe, boots, and transparent gloves.
"By the way, will it be okay if I use the Heaven Sword to cut it?" I asked after I changed my clothes.
"Try it yourself."
My second wish was to obtain a complete upgrade guide for fallen angels. It would perfectly guide me to upgrade from a four-winged fallen angel to the level of the Fallen Angel King in the fastest possible time.
My third wish, which is also the one I most want to fulfill, is for her to help me remove the cat ears and tail—this is also the one we argued about the longest.
After that, we chatted for a while longer, though our tone was full of sarcasm, ridicule, and malicious attacks. However, unusually, we didn't completely break off relations—because that would benefit neither of us.
And so, with the swing of Bellica's scythe, I entered the next world.
Chapter 1: The Demon Commander
When I awoke again, I found myself in the middle of a battlefield. All around me stretched two vast armies, locked in fierce combat. I was momentarily stunned; five or six swords, seven or eight spears, and a dozen crossbow bolts now wielded my body. Fortunately, my new Moral Fallen Angel armor offered excellent defense. These attacks did absolutely no harm to me.
Obviously, no one would believe I was just passing by at this point. Looking closer, the formations of both armies seemed strangely familiar. One side boasted radiant angels and numerous celestial creatures, unicorns, white tigers, and more. The other side, with its menacing bared fangs, consisted of vampires, demons, and fallen angels.
It looks like there are clear boundaries. I think I've found my tribe.
After rolling my eyes, I swung my Heavenly Sword and cut dozens of angels in front of me in half. Then I retreated, casting a Shadow Shield on myself with my left hand, and fought relentlessly, struggling to fight my way back and forth within what seemed to be the Heavenly side's camp before finally squeezing into my own.
Those creatures belonging to the evil faction seemed to mistakenly interpret my action as a lone incursion into the enemy camp, followed by a fierce battle.
Among the hellish creatures, the strong reign supreme. Seeing this scene, they cheered wildly, their attacks becoming even more ferocious—a relentless, suicidal assault. However, I watched as these hellish creatures displayed a loose formation and utter disorganization. Although they seemed to outnumber the Heavenly army and possessed considerable individual strength, and even had the morale advantage, the battle still ended in a mere stalemate.
This is really bad. I rolled my eyes. But I didn't have much to say about the current situation. After all, I'm a newcomer. I was willing to fight desperately for survival just now, but now that I'm safe, I'm completely exhausted and just loafing around in the middle of the formation, not really putting in any effort. Anyway, the Hell side's formation is loose and chaotic. I yelled a couple of times: "Charge! Kill!" and then took a few steps back, and nobody even noticed.
The battle lasted longer than I had imagined. Both sides' soldiers seemed to have their brains removed, fighting without any sign of fatigue or fear. The troops on the front lines had changed six or seven times, and every time I watched those chaotic figures fall from the sky like dumplings being dropped into a pot, I felt like yawning.
It was just so incredibly boring. Both sides were simply fighting mechanically, without a single trace of command—not even the slightest bit. The Heavenly Army was somewhat better; they held their ground and didn't require much embellishment. The Hell Army, however, was no different from a mob. They didn't resemble a force at all.
So, if you follow them, can you really achieve anything?
I rolled my eyes and thought to myself.
Finally, on the sixteenth day of the second month, as I weakly shouted "Kill! Kill!", a series of powerful horn sounds suddenly came from behind me. Then, as if receiving a signal, the army of hell retreated like a tide.
It's finally over. I yawned. Looks like I can finally get a good night's sleep—and maybe refine some soul fragments to try and reach the level of a six-winged archangel as soon as possible. Having only two pairs of wings on my back really doesn't look cool enough.
However, I didn't expect that sometimes, even if you don't want to look for trouble, it will come looking for you on its own.
A fallen angel who looked like he had barely reached the level of an archangel stared at me, seemingly a little surprised: "Aren't you the same fallen angel from back then, the one who went into battle and fought his way through the enemy ranks... How come?! You're still alive?"
...You really want me dead, don't you?
This time, before I could reply, the guy stared at me for a while, making me feel uneasy. Then he muttered under his breath, "Such a strong smell of blood, doesn't seem like a spy sent from Heaven."
Can't you think of something better?
"Fine, from today onwards, you'll have the rank of lieutenant." The guy waved his hand, seemingly indifferent, like shooing away a fly. I didn't say anything, forced myself to salute him despite feeling nauseous, and then found a secluded spot to vomit.
And so, I became a glorious lieutenant in the army of hell in this world, commanding a battalion of two thousand low-ranking demons of various kinds.
Back then I was a demon prince, and now I'm a demon lieutenant... How can I bear this?
Well, there's plenty of time anyway, let's keep climbing—of course, let me fuse a soul fragment first.
