And they felt that the ghost state was good, at least it was immortality?
What kind of bizarre existence is this?
What a waste of my time!!!
William looked at the huge exclamation mark at the end of his note, which almost tore through the paper, and couldn't help but laugh. 'Come to think of it, it wouldn't be so bad if all ghosts thought becoming ghosts was like that guy.'
He closed the notebook, put it away, and locked it with magic—the records were written to better help the ghosts have the confidence to keep going, and although the person in question was dead, they still had to be kept secret.
“William!”
Adams's voice came from outside the door, "Is the visitor gone?"
"It's gone. I should change the status. Come in, Adams."
William stood up, opened the door, and called out to Adams, who was standing in the doorway.
“That’s good,” Adams said as he walked in carrying a small basket, holding it up before even sitting down. “New product! Developed by my club members, give it a try!”
"I'm really looking forward to it." William didn't stand on ceremony, casually picking up something that looked like an egg tart, glancing at it and finding its shape cute before popping it into his mouth. "What brings you here today?"
"Today is a holiday!"
Adams stared at William. "You're not so busy that you've forgotten the days, are you?"
“A holiday?” William flipped through the pages. “It seems so—but I don’t have classes on Fridays, so I didn’t pay attention. I recently got an ancient memory orb that reminds me to go to class the night before.
"Ancient?"
“Look, that on the table,” William pointed to the small crystal ball floating in the air. It was a gift from a ghost, who said it could remind him of important journeys. After trying it a few times, he found it worked quite well as an odometer, so he simply started using it.
"This—the raw materials have all been exhausted! This memory sphere was made from the best divination crystals. The special crystals from that area before the Wizard War a hundred years ago were all used up!"
'God knows, that ghost seems to have died four or five hundred years ago.' William thought back for a moment and realized it made sense—crystals are consumable materials, and the ore that ran out a hundred years ago wasn't particularly precious four or five hundred years ago. In the past, poor families even ate hairy crabs to survive, but now even crabs for bathing are too expensive to afford…
"And what's that?" Adams, with his sharp eyes, looked at the spot where the ghostly noblewoman had been sitting. A dull-colored brooch lay there, almost invisible unless you looked closely.
“Perhaps it’s payment from that person,” William shook his head, showing no interest in observing closely—the ghosts always left behind small items after talking to him, some openly, some secretly, but none of them came back to retrieve their lost items.
Can ghosts carry things?
“Of course, if they want to, it’s just very tiring—” William picked up another egg tart that tasted like marshmallow. At the banquet, he was still unsure who had prepared the tableware and candles, but after talking to the ghost for so long, he had already figured out that the ghost could move objects to a small extent.
"Speaking of which, you really are soft-hearted. Filch had already submitted a report suggesting whether or not to expel those ghosts that were disrupting the teaching work, but you still took the initiative to take responsibility for it."
Adams examined the brooch for a long time but couldn't figure it out, so he put it back on William's desk.
"Stop talking about it. I want to duel with my past self now—it took me half a day just to convince Filch to accept that ghosts could come, not to mention the time I spent talking to those ghosts."
William laughed and made fun of himself.
“Tch,” Adams made a disdainful gesture, “How many ghosts have decided to go on during this time?”
Five.
William said with no small amount of pride.
"so much?"
“Yeah, I didn’t expect a lecture to be so effective. Maybe they’ve come to terms with it.” William straightened up. “There’s nothing we can do. If you don’t talk to them, those guys will keep peeking out from behind the wall to look at you, then look again. If you shout, they’ll run far away, but they’ll come back the next day. What can we do?”
"Isn't it because you softened your heart?"
Adams was biting into a dessert, mumbling incoherently.
"Alright, alright, I admit I did soften my heart. After all, it's just a child under eleven years old. Such a young child becoming a ghost—it's really..."
William shook his head. "His parents were professors at Hogwarts back then. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to get into the school if he wasn't old enough. He's the child of a former colleague, so I'll help him if I can. It's just a few conversations. I can't just watch that guy come here to play hide-and-seek every day."
After giving two ghosts the courage to continue, the ghosts who had lived for hundreds of years began to observe him like madmen. They neither approached nor stayed away, glancing at him occasionally, and hiding when he noticed them. Since ghosts don't need to rest, they monitored him almost 24 hours a day, making it impossible for his investigation to continue.
Several times he was ready to force the school to expel the ghosts, but in the end, it was that child who softened his originally firm heart.
After making a pact with the ghosts and giving them time to talk, William's routine finally returned to normal. However, the extra conversations left him overwhelmed. As for the rewards, they became less important after he persuaded another ghost to continue.
"So, should the brooch be tested by Singed?"
"Let's keep it for now and put it together later. It would be too much trouble for him to keep doing this," William said, opening the drawer. "He didn't explicitly say he was going to give this to me, so let's just keep it in this drawer for now."
He opened another drawer. "You can pick one of these. They're all clearly meant for me, but I'm not entirely sure about their effects. Consider this a test of your judgment."
William simply placed the entire drawer on the table, and the drawer full of small odds and ends startled Adams.
There's no other way; aside from a few rare jewels, everything has some magical fluctuations, so they can all be sold for some Galleons.
"You went to rob a store?"
“No, I just don’t have the desire to authenticate it after hearing those stories. If you want to find it, just see if there’s anything useful about it.” William was very laid-back—the difficulty he was facing was a top-tier treasure like a crown, and he hadn’t made much progress in researching so far. The things in the drawer weren’t of much help at all.
"Then I won't be polite."
Adams started picking through the pile of odds and ends, ignoring even the dessert. William didn't bother to say anything, simply placing the basket beside him and happily starting to eat.

"It seems that Professor William has been entertained by a ghost again."
In Lockhart's office, the words on the diary he was holding were written.
This made Lockhart's eyes redden. He grabbed his beautiful quill and began writing frantically in his diary.
"What Professor William? I am the professor! Professor Lockhart, the great adventurer, Professor Lockhart!"
"you?"
A word and a large question mark appeared on the diary, full of irony.
"Yes, of course it's me, the great me, the amazing me!"
"Give up. What good is your Professor Lockhart Problem Solving Club? Great? What's so great about it! Do you really think a club that preys on young girls on campus is more famous than a club that solves the problems of ghosts?"
“What a joke—” The words on the diary appeared faster and faster, “Does Professor Lockhart really think those ghosts won’t tell anyone?”
"No, that's not true! ~"
Lockhart's face contorted as he frantically scribbled on the diary with his quill, trying to erase those damned sentences.
"I am Lockhart, I am the great adventurer, I am the great professor!"
"You mean a greatness that even elves can't control?"
The sarcasm in the diary grew increasingly sharp, prompting Lockhart to slam it shut and throw it far away.
But he quickly retrieved the diary and then nervously opened it.
“You’re afraid, Lockhart—just like my former master, Dumbledore!”
Such handwriting appeared in the diary.
"I didn't! I'm not, I'm not!"
Lockhart muttered to himself, but his quill pen didn't write anything in the diary.
This is a true book that reflects its owner's thoughts and offers suggestions for improvement—its previous owner was Albus Dumbledore.
It was with the help of this great book disguised as a diary that Dumbledore became the greatest white wizard in history.
This is what the book told Lockhart when he discovered it.
He initially dismissed such remarks as a joke, but when the book clearly revealed that Professor Lockhart was actually an incompetent fool and offered suggestions for improvement, Lockhart began to waver.
Dumbledore's stuff!
The thing that would help him become the greatest wizard was right in front of him—it could teach him many things, though it always stung his heart, but what did it matter?
Dumbledore abandoned the book after becoming the most powerful wizard, so Lockhart could too, after all, Lockhart was born great, wasn't he?
This book offers excellent advice on improving one's abilities, suggesting that he talk to students to gain a reputation within the school—Ron Weasley is a member of the Weasley family and a good friend of Harry's. As long as that person feels he is a good professor, it will be much more effective than directly working with Harry.
That's right, isn't it?
He had heard Harry's friends say nice things about him to Harry many times—and it worked much better than before.
Even the courses have hints, which, while not without irony, are very effective, no doubt about it.
As for attacking students and creating chaos, ha, that's his specialty.
Lockhart became a hero for handling the chaos, didn't he?
They rescued one group of students while providing cover for another—a perfect plan that didn't even raise a suspicion from Dumbledore.
However, the book that followed was even more satirical—
'But it doesn't matter, I'll throw you away sooner or later, after I become the greatest wizard!'
Chapter 181 The Out-of-Control Wandering Ball
What should I do?
Lockhart set aside most of his thoughts and began writing earnestly in his diary.
No wonder Dumbledore threw this guy away…
"You're thinking about your rudeness again, unwilling to admit your incompetence, aren't you?"
These words appeared in the diary: "Losing me is the greatest loss of that foolish Dumbledore's life!"
Lockhart quickly swallowed his disrespectful thoughts, saying, "Yes, yes, you are a great treasure. Without you, Dumbledore could not have achieved that."
"A wise move, Professor Lockhart." These words slowly appeared in the diary. "So, think about it, what are you lacking right now?"
"Reputation, of course!"
Lockhart wrote emphatically in his diary, "How could the Order of Merlin, Third Class, be worthy of me? Of course, the Order of Merlin, First Class, is more fitting for a legend like me!"
"Are you a legend?"
The diary habitually mocked, "You're nothing but a fame-seeker!"
Despite having been mocked countless times, these words still made Lockhart grip his wand tightly—damn diary, you were abandoned by Dumbledore because of this!
Thinking of this, Lockhart became happy instead. If this diary hadn't been so unbearable, why would Dumbledore have given up such a treasure?
