"What are you worried about? We're all going to be doing internships soon, and we can even take time off from classes. What's there to worry about? Just pass the graduation exam and everything will be fine."
The students' conversation veered off-topic—when William pushed open the door and came in, the group was having an unusually lively chattering session.
"Sorry, it's a little late today. I've been doing some preparations."
William slowly stepped onto the podium. "What are you talking about, having so much fun?"
But unlike usual, today a group of students didn't answer him at all—no wonder, they could hardly recognize the professor above them.
The professor on the stage had grown considerably larger, though his face remained the same; the bulging bulges on his body were of unknown origin.
"Professor, why are you wearing a raincoat?"
'Not only raincoats, but also straw raincoats! The little elf found such a complete set of rain gear... even though they're all old...'
William's stereotype was that the wizarding world shouldn't have so many rain protection measures—wizards were too mobile, had several rain-proof spells, and their clothes were easy to clean. Having an umbrella was already a luxury; raincoats were only for special operations...
"The raincoat isn't important. What's important is that we're having a practical lesson today. Are you interested?"
"Of course!"
The students all agreed, but soon someone raised their hand—seventh graders, nearing graduation, were the most mischievous.
"Professor, we heard that the fifth-grade students received a bonus from you, is that true?"
“Of course it’s true,” William replied with a laugh, his tone exaggerated. “Hey, I just got paid yesterday. You kids who are about to start your internships and jobs, are you planning to hurt my wallet a second time?”
He held up one finger and waved it, "Don't even think about it. Unless half of you get an E or higher on your final exams, I'll treat you all to a banquet or something. Forget about any bonuses."
This gesture, combined with his thick clothes, looked particularly comical, and the students below burst into laughter.
"Alright, enough laughing, let's go. We don't have that much time to spare—" William led the way out of the classroom, casually casting a bubbly hair spell on himself, "Stay close to me!"
The muffled voice, amplified by the Bubble Head Curse, reached the ears of the students behind him. Laughing and joking, they followed William closely, eagerly anticipating the practical lesson—they were quite satisfied with the course.
But as the students walked, they realized something was wrong—this wasn't the way to the practice room, but the way to the school gate.
"Professor, are we going to do an off-campus internship?"
"It's still early. Although you're all adults, it's a bit too early for you to do off-campus internships. But today's class will be very interesting—" William said to the students behind him without turning his head.
What a joke! Taking students out without prior notice is not something a professor should do. Although seventh-grade students are adults, large-scale off-campus activities are not something to be taken lightly. Students who haven't left campus are very obedient. Three or four professors with a large number of students, along with a group of adult students, could easily start a war, especially the students in his class, who are known for their strong fighting power.
'I just got paid yesterday, how could I make such a mistake? Hogwarts salaries aren't low; while you won't get rich off your salary, it's still much higher than a civil servant's salary when you calculate it...'
'Speaking of which, why was payday yesterday? Do all the happy things have to be used up at once?'
William paused in his tracks as he mentally complained – he was about to leave the castle gates, and the sound of the rapid rain pattering against the door was already in his ears.
'I have to go to class!'
After checking his equipment again, William gritted his teeth and walked straight ahead.
"Those at the back, don't fall behind, keep up!"
He gave his students one last instruction, then stepped out of the castle gates.
Once he was fully standing in the rain, he breathed a sigh of relief—the multiple layers of protection were much more effective than he had imagined, especially the umbrella he had just temporarily set up, which had even protected his raincoat, not to mention the raincoat he was wearing underneath.
The students following behind were stunned by the scene—no, so Professor, you're dressed so warmly to go outside the castle?
"What are you standing there for? Come out!"
William pulled out his wand with the hand that wasn't holding the umbrella, letting the umbrella float there to shield him from the wind and rain—"Today's practical lesson is about spellcasting under extreme conditions. When you're dueling someone, you won't just throw down your wands and surrender because it's going to rain, will you?"
"Of course not, but—"
"What's wrong with that? I was worried about how to create an extreme environment, but now I have one!"
William's smiling face was distorted by the Bubble Head Curse and appeared in the eyes of every seventh-grader, but no matter which student it was, they all felt that the face was more distorted than usual - they all understood the reason, but what's going on with Professor wearing a raincoat and holding an umbrella?
“Looks like I’ll have to lend you a hand,” William shook his head, and his wand pointed almost without pause at the ground next to the castle. A large clump of muddy water floated on the ground, which was already flooded due to the recent rains, and he hurled it at the students before they could react.
"what!"
Merlin!
"sky!"
In the instant the rain lashed down, the children didn't even have time to pull out their wands, allowing the professor's attack to completely devastate them. The splashing mud and water stained the entire hall, soiling everyone's robes, faces, hair, and other parts of their bodies.
'There were only three who tried to cast the Ironclad Spell, but they failed before they could complete it. This year's students have been too self-taught and lack practical experience...'
'We could consider doing this with fifth graders too, otherwise they might be even slower to react than these students later on…'
"Alright, your clothes are all dirty now, so there's nothing to worry about, right?" William started speaking incoherently. "Come out, everyone. Practicing magic in the rain is a completely new experience, a limited-time course in October."
'It seems like smashing things up with students is good for your mind and body; this feeling is just a little worse than sunbathing yesterday…'
This genuine joy reminded William of the struggle he'd had in Azkaban to find something to cheer him up and keep him from going mad, so he quickly shut his mouth—if he said anything he shouldn't, he really wouldn't be able to be a professor anymore…
"Let's go, let's go to class!"
He gestured for the students to leave with one hand, then returned to the foyer, waving his wand at the splattered mud and water, and began cleaning up the stains he had made.
"No, Professor, we have them too! Please take a look!"
Filled with resentment and with a "what the hell" attitude, the students stood in the rain without even a word of protest—after all, their hair was dirty, and the rain might wash it off a bit…
“Cheer up,” William said quickly, finishing up and standing in the crowd fully equipped. “We still have a long way to go, remember to use the head-soaking charm—be careful not to catch a cold.”
Chapter 170 What is a Hidden Tycoon?
"Quick, quick, divide us into groups. Our clothes are already dirty, can they get any dirtier?"
In a clearing near the Forbidden Forest, William, dressed in rain gear, spoke in a language that was not quite human.
The children following behind were speechless—the days of heavy rain had made the roads of Hogwarts incredibly muddy, and in the short time they had walked, the hems of their robes had already turned the color of mud.
As for being soaked, that was to be expected; unlike the professor who was fully armed, they were already drenched in sweat from the long journey.
"Get moving, but be careful not to catch a cold."
William raised his voice, "Don't worry, the kitchen has prepared hot soup for you. I've also ordered cold medicine from the hospital, so don't worry about logistics!"
Through the thick curtain of rain, William's voice, amplified by magic, carried quite far, leaving the students, who had already been divided into groups, momentarily at a loss for words.
-
“William!”
Hagrid's voice, like his physique, is quite distinctive—the delicate little pink umbrella he holds looks rather comical.
'Isn't this umbrella a bit too small? And why doesn't Hagrid open it?'
William immediately thought of this question.
'Is it a hidden weapon? A wand? Wait, giants and fairies can't have wands, but half-bloods can, right?'
William, unable to figure it out for the moment, didn't dwell on the question. "Hagrid, what brings you here?"
“I heard your voice, William—” Hagrid smiled, twirling his umbrella. “Are you in class?”
"Yes, I think casting spells in such extreme environments would be a good experiment for them—"
As William spoke, he kept an eye on the students out of the corner of his eye. There was still some danger in this class, and he didn't want the children to get any strange injuries.
"Be careful, Rhys, we can't allow that kind of evil curse to be tried!"
After William used an Ironclad Curse to block a powerful curse, he shouted at the attacking kid.
"No problem, Professor!"
The student who was being scolded responded cheerfully, then rolled on the ground to avoid the petrification spell his opponent retaliated with.
They adapted to the rain faster than William had imagined, as if once their robes were soaked, they wouldn't get any wet again. They didn't care whether they were stepping into water or mud, and they played with unusual gusto.
'It feels like playing in the water with kids—' William shook his head and looked at Hagrid. 'Hagrid, how have you been lately? This damn rainy weather just won't end, it's giving me a headache.'
“Haha,” Hagrid chuckled, “you get used to it. October at Hogwarts is always like this; it usually stops around November.”
"Things will be much better in April and May, so it means our year of study and life is getting better and better?"
Such philosophical words don't sound like something you would say...
"Break the curse! You're not going to take responsibility after I knocked you unconscious?"
William turned his head and shouted to another child, "Ravenclaw, add one point! Break the curse in one minute, then continue!"
"No problem, Professor. Will I get more points if I knock them down a few more times?"
The student who was yelled at didn't seem upset at all. He quickly ran over to break the curse on the student opposite him while smiling back at William.
“You’re dreaming, kid,” William said sternly. “Anyone caught cheating will be cleaning toilets. The castle’s been covered in mud these past few days, and we’re short-handed.”
The students laughed and giggled, but they waved their wands even more vigorously—not being able to rack up points and not being able to score points are two different things.
-
"Time's up, get out of class dismissed."
"Professor, there are still ten minutes left before get out of class ends!"
When William announced the end of get out of class, the group of students who were having a great time were even addicted to attacking each other in the rain and mud, and had completely lost the reluctance they had shown in class earlier.
"You still have classes. Are you planning to go see other professors like this? Especially the girls, I don't think you'd want to be seen in the castle corridor like this, would you?"
The group of mud monkeys only then realized that they could no longer distinguish the color of each other's robes, and they hurriedly rushed towards the castle.
Just like William said, these seventh-year students are now the big brothers of their respective houses. If the first and second-year students saw them like this, their reputation, built up over time, would be completely ruined...
"The kitchen should have sent the soup to the common room by now! I've also spoken to the school clinic; they've prepared three times the usual amount of cold medicine today. Anyone feeling unwell should remember to pick it up!"
William shouted behind a group of running students, making sure they could all hear him.
Hagrid, standing to the side, was grinning from ear to ear—"William, are you done with your classes for today? Want to grab a drink?"
"Of course, let's go for a drink."
According to William's original plan, he should be looking at materials now, but plans can't keep up with changes. He's already struggling to attend class, and if he were to study materials, he would become so irritable that he wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything.
'I just can't concentrate on reading anymore,' William sighed. His good mood from class just now vanished as soon as he thought about the materials.
'How could such disgusting and bizarre creatures exist in the world?!'
