As the approaching figure ascended higher, Enel's psychic abilities also detected the aura. Staring at the churning clouds beyond the cliff, he began to doubt for the first time whether his senses were malfunctioning.
"Without any Devil Fruit power, you just stepped on the air to get up there?"
The next moment, a loud explosion came from below the cliff.
A figure leaped across the edge of the island and crashed into the giant tree plaza. The stone slabs warped outwards from the point of impact, and rubble mixed with dust swept across half the plaza. The mutated beasts kept nearby all collapsed, their cries silenced.
Geno burst out of the mechanical lab, his right arm transforming into a heavy mortar as he ran. Urouge's body swelled, Shaq lowered his body, and Leona's hand simultaneously landed on the hilt of her knife.
The sound of clothes being patted could be heard from within the smoke and dust.
"Ten thousand meters is still a bit too high. I've only been on vacation for a few days, and my legs have already become rusty."
Karp, wearing a floral shirt, stepped out of the pit, picking his nose with one hand and idly moving his other hand. He looked around the plaza but didn't see the face he was most looking for.
"Ace isn't here?"
Everyone knew who had arrived, but facing this old man who had repeatedly cornered the Pirate King was a completely different experience. His attire didn't resemble that of a Marine on a mission, and his exposed arms weren't covered in Haki, yet everyone's Observation Haki was issuing warnings.
Sabo was particularly stiff.
His short, gray hair, the scar under his left eye, and his fists all overlapped with the childhood memories left behind by Corpo Mountain. He gripped the alloy rod, his palms already sweating.
"Old man..."
Garp looked over at the sound and grinned, "Sabo? You brat, you're here too! I wasn't watching you back then, and you ran off with Ace. You two have caused me no end of trouble over the years."
As he spoke, he clenched his fist, his knuckles cracking repeatedly.
Sabo instinctively took a half step back, then forced himself to stand firm: "We're not the kids from the mountains anymore."
"That's why I came up here myself." Garp's smile faded, and he stepped his right foot into the stone slab.
The ground didn't explode immediately, but a heavy pressure spread along the plaza. The beast that had just raised its head pressed back down to the ground, and Geno's cannon muzzle was also slightly deflected by the shock.
"Since Ace isn't here, let's check you guys first."
Garp beckoned to the crowd, his fist already raised to his chest.
"Come at me all at once! Anyone who dares to slack off in front of me will receive an extra punch from my iron fist of love!"
Chapter 130 Thor and Iron Fist: A Domineering and Overwhelming Battle
As soon as he finished speaking, the stone slab beneath Garp's feet shattered into pieces.
Sabo's Observation Haki had barely detected the change in the airflow ahead when Garp had already covered the distance between them. Without any special abilities or complex techniques, relying solely on the explosive power of his legs, his speed was so great that he became nothing more than a blurry afterimage.
"Faster than Kizaru without the Yata Mirror!"
Sabo's boot heels unleashed high-pressure blue flames, and his Flame Burst Air Step propelled him backward. But he had only retreated a few meters when Garp's hand was already upon him at the brim of his hat.
"Run away as soon as you see me? You've wasted all those years of training!"
Garp spread his five fingers, about to grab Sabo's top hat, when a bolt of lightning suddenly struck down from above.
Boom!
Blue lightning engulfed Garp's outstretched right arm, then coalesced into a giant dragon. The dragon opened its mouth and bit down, engulfing Garp's entire body in high-temperature electricity.
"Two Hundred Million Volts Thunder Dragon!"
Enel floated in mid-air, his Thunder Knife pointed downwards. Countless arcs of electricity crawled across his shoulders and back, and thunder shook the giant tree, causing leaves to fall continuously.
"No matter what titles you've earned in Qinghai, a body is still just a body. Take two hundred million volts, then we can talk about your iron fist!"
The electric current continued to flow into the plaza, quickly melting a charred crater beneath Garp's feet. Sabo seized the opportunity to retreat from the lightning's range, raising his long staff to prepare for the next round of attacks.
However, after the lightning dissipated, a person was still standing at the bottom of the pit.
Garp's floral shirt had several holes in it, and smoke was still rising from the edges of the fabric. However, his skin was not burned; a layer of Armament Haki clung to his body, shielding him from the intense heat and impact of the lightning.
He glanced down at his tattered shirt, then looked up at Enel.
"Rumble-Rumble Fruit, no wonder you dared to be the first to charge in. The power is not bad, but your Haki can't support this ability."
Enel's smile vanished.
Garp bent his knees and his body suddenly disappeared at the bottom of the pit.
"shave!"
Enel's mental network expanded instantly, and lightning exploded from his body. He finally caught sight of Garp above him, but only had time to transform his body into its elemental form.
In terms of speed, the Rumble-Rumble Fruit has never put him at a disadvantage. While a physical body can shatter the air, it shouldn't be able to keep up with real lightning.
"Natural science is not a shield against being beaten!"
Garp's voice descended from above. The fist, covered in Armament Haki, didn't create a huge external impact; it simply descended along the shortest path. Before the fist even touched his body, the concentrated Haki had already blocked Enel's escape route.
Just as Enel's lightning was about to disperse, his elemental transformation was forcibly interrupted by that punch.
boom!
The fist slammed into his left cheek, and top-tier Armament Haki seeped into his body. Enel's cheek instantly deformed, blood and broken teeth flew out, and he plummeted diagonally from the sky.
He crashed into a building at the edge of the plaza, piercing through more than a dozen stone walls, carving a long trench in the ground, and finally embedding himself in the rocky hillside. Spiderweb-like cracks spread from behind him, and the entire floating island swayed upon impact.
Enel coughed up a mouthful of blood and tried to raise his arm, but it felt as if an iron pillar had been driven into his body. The punch had not only struck the surface, but the Haki had bypassed his defenses and exploded inside his body, even making the condensed lightning intermittent.
With just one punch, he lost nearly half of his fighting ability.
Bucky had already disassembled his body and desperately stuffed it into the gaps between several boulders, leaving only half of his face exposed to observe the battlefield.
"Enel was punched into the mountains! This old man is even more outrageous than the monsters we saw when we were kids!"
“It wasn’t a Devil Fruit advantage.” Sabo stared at Garp’s landing posture, gripping his staff even tighter. “He concentrated his Armament Haki in his fist, releasing it internally after the impact. Enel’s elemental transformation was a step too slow, and his body and internal organs took the hit together.”
Garp landed beside the pit and shouted at Enel in the rock wall, "Hey, you little brat who's always causing trouble! Your Devil Fruit gave you speed and destructive power, but it also made you used to being untouchable. Your body can't keep up, and your Haki isn't up to par. If you meet a real strong opponent, one punch will be enough to knock you down."
He raised the hand that had just been struck by lightning, clenching his five fingers.
"The sea is never short of troublesome abilities. In the end, what can truly overpower them is an aura of dominance."
The rock wall suddenly exploded.
Enel burst out of the rubble, his left cheek swollen and blood still trickling from his mouth. He had never taken the people of Qinghai seriously, and he could not accept that the power he relied on to be called a god had been shattered by a single punch from an old man who had no fruit.
"Don't speak to me like you're lecturing mortals!"
Lightning erupted from his body, expanding into a colossal image of a thunder god in mid-air. Two hundred million volts gathered once more, distorting the surrounding air with intense heat.
Garp did not stop him, but simply stood there watching him regroup his power.
"He can still stand up, so it's not too bad."
Just as Enel was about to manipulate Thor to suppress the attack, a figure flew past him from above.
"Step back."
As Leona's voice faded, the sword was already drawn. She held the slender, swift blade, White Night, in her right hand, while her left hand carried the newly reforged, edgeless greatsword, Meteorite. The two weapons, one light and one heavy, traced drastically different paths through the air.
"His Armament Haki can withstand 200 million volts. You're just wasting your energy by continuing to increase your lightning."
"You think changing it to a knife will solve everything—"
“I’m not testing his skin with a blade.” Leona looked past the image of Thor, her eyes fixed on Garp. “I’m testing his Haki.”
Black Armament Haki flowed down her arm and onto her twin swords. The blade of White Night was stained black, and the heavy body of Meteorite gleamed with a metallic sheen. The Haki didn't dissipate outwards; instead, it pressed tightly against the blades.
Garp saw the two knives and his gaze lingered on the meteorite for a moment longer.
"The swift blade is responsible for variation, and the greatsword for suppression? The approach is good. But the weapons have just been reforged, and the coordination is still far from perfect."
"You'll only know how much it's different once you try it."
Using the momentum of her fall, Leona swung her meteor sword, the greatsword striking towards Garp's head first. Hidden behind the greatsword's shadow, White Night didn't strike simultaneously, but instead, just as Garp was about to parry, slashed at his ribs from the side.
Garp did not retreat.
He raised his right fist, Armament Haki covering his wrist and knuckles, facing the meteor head-on. Before fist and sword even made full contact, the two forces of Haki collided at a distance of less than an inch.
boom!
The shockwave spread outwards from between the two, cracks creeping along the plaza and into the buildings. Leona's high ponytail was pulled behind her by the blast, and her left arm, gripping the meteorite, suddenly sank.
Instead of engaging Garp in a prolonged battle, she used the recoil from the heavy sword to adjust her waist, and her right hand, using the White Night technique, accelerated along the original route. As the blade approached Garp's ribs, her Armament Haki focused on a single point, preparing to channel her power into his defenses.
Garp lowered his left elbow, blocking White Night perfectly.
Sparks flew as the blade grazed the arm covered in Haki. Leona twisted her wrist, turning the horizontal slash into an upward thrust, while Meteor tumbled in the air, once again pressing down on Garp's shoulder.
The two swords, one light and one heavy, switched attacks in quick succession, leaving the opponent no chance to deal with either weapon alone.
Garp simply blocked them one by one with his fists.
Each collision lacked exaggerated techniques, yet the results were clearly visible on the plaza. Leona slashed down, leaving a long gash in the ground from the dissipating shock; Garp retaliated with a punch, compressing the air into a visible dent, forcing her to use her Float-Float Fruit to alter her landing point.
Enel stopped in mid-air and did not press Thor down again.
He could tell that Leona's Haki was stronger than his own, and he could also tell that Garp hadn't been serious from the beginning. When the old man blocked the twin swords, his feet barely moved, but the Armament Haki on his fists changed faster than Leona's every time.
After more than ten exchanges, Garp suddenly punched Meteorite and flicked Leona's forehead with his other hand across the White Night.
It was just a seemingly casual flick on the head, but Leona was sent flying backward as if hit by a cannonball. She activated her Float-Float Fruit mid-air, changing direction three times in succession to dissipate the force, and even when she landed, her feet still slid backward for dozens of meters.
Leona looked up, a red mark now visible on her forehead. She hadn't dropped the two knives, but her left arm was slightly numb from the repeated impacts.
“You have the judgment and the courage.” Garp clenched his fist. “You’ve also reached the threshold of releasing your Armament Haki. But you’re too eager to make both swords work at the same time. The power of the greatsword hasn’t been fully applied yet, but the change of the fast sword has already arrived. Against someone with weaker Haki than you, you can force them to be caught off guard. Against me, you’ll only expose both weaknesses at the same time.”
Leona glanced at Bai Ye, then looked at Meteorite, without refuting.
Garp raised his fist again: "What, the examination has only just begun, and you're already giving up?"
Sabo stepped forward from the side, blue flames erupting from both ends of his alloy staff. Urouge's body continued to expand under the influence of causal backlash. Geno readjusted the cannon's muzzle, and Shaq and the other executives dispersed, blocking the path around Garp.
Enel wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth before the rock wall. His Thunder God form, which had been expanding indiscriminately, began to shrink. The massive lightning bolts converged towards the Thunder Pestle, and the arcs of electricity that had been scattering in all directions were forcibly suppressed by him.
That punch just now had taught him that relying solely on the power of the Devil Fruit was meaningless. To truly land an attack on Garp, he first needed to find an opening in Garp's Haki defense.
Garp surveyed the group that had regrouped for the offensive and finally showed a hint of satisfaction.
“If one person gets beaten up, the others will just stand by and watch; they don’t deserve to be on the same boat.”
He simultaneously covered both fists with Armament Haki, and the cracked stone slab beneath his feet sank another layer.
"This time you finally look like a pirate crew. Come on, let's see if you can force me to take a few more steps!"
