"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!"
Ulan Aodeng stood there, his hand holding the gun unwavering, his will steadfast, unmoved, and his heart of stone.
He raised his spear again.
The spear flashed out once more, swift as lightning, cold and precise, piercing through the three children who were crying and clinging to their mother!
Three short, agonizing screams rang out almost simultaneously and then abruptly ceased. The three small bodies slid off their mother, twitched twice, and then remained completely still.
Blood seeped from beneath the three small bodies, mingling with the mother's blood to form a large, shocking dark red stain on the floor.
Ulanhaisang suddenly looked up and saw this scene.
The expression on his face changed completely in that instant, turning into utter madness!
His eyes turned bloodshot, his pupils trembled violently, his teeth clenched so tightly they clicked, and his lips turned white with extreme anger.
He seemed possessed by some ferocious beast, letting out a roar that was not human. He grabbed a dagger that had appeared on the ground at some unknown time and pounced on Ulan Aodeng like a cannonball!
His movements were so fast it was almost a death-defying lunge, the dagger aimed straight for Ulan Aodeng's throat!
"die!!!"
Chapter 201 A Cunning Enemy, Perilous as a Pile of Eggs
Ulan Aodeng did not dodge.
He stretched out his left hand, fingers spread, and steadily caught the dagger that was thrust at him.
A sharp dagger pierced his palm, cutting through flesh and bone, and blood gushed from between his fingers, dripping down his wrist to the ground.
But he didn't even frown; he simply gripped Ulanhaisang's hand tightly, halting his advance and stabilizing him.
"Hai Sang, wake up." Ulan Aodeng's voice was not loud, but it carried an undeniable calmness. "Everything here is fake. Your wife, your children, are all fake."
"Your wife is not Xiaorou, but a spiritual entity called Evelisa. Her goal is to devour your spirit, take over your body, and turn you into a vessel for her survival."
"The real you is still lying in a hospital bed in Dragon Bone Village, unconscious."
Ulan Haisang wasn't listening at all.
His eyes were filled with hatred; the deep-seated hatred of killing his wife and children had completely overwhelmed his reason.
He gripped the dagger tightly with both hands, pushing it forward with all his might, trying to plunge the blade into Ulan Aodeng's throat.
Blood flowed down his arm and dripped onto the floor due to excessive exertion.
"Die! Die! Die!!!"
His voice was hoarse and frantic, tears mixed with snot streamed down his face, his features were so distorted that he was almost unrecognizable, and his whole body exuded a violent aura that could destroy everything.
Ulan Aodeng looked at his son, who seemed to be going crazy, and a deep pain flashed in his eyes.
But he didn't continue to indulge her.
He suddenly raised his foot and kicked Wulan Haisang hard in the stomach!
Ulanhaisang groaned and flew backward, his back hitting the wall with a dull thud. He then slid softly to the ground, curled up in a ball, and retched incessantly while clutching his stomach.
Ulan Aodeng pulled the dagger out of his left palm and tossed it aside, letting the blood drip from his palm onto the floor.
He carried his rifle and walked step by step toward Ulanhaisang, who was curled up on the ground. His footsteps sounded particularly heavy in the deathly silent room.
Ulanhaisang barely managed to lift his head, his eyes still filled with hatred, his lips trembling as if he wanted to say something.
Ulan Aodeng stopped in front of him and thrust out with his spear!
The spear tip was aimed directly at his brow, but at the last moment it suddenly veered off course, grazing his ear and piercing the wall behind him!
The sharp edge of the gun sliced off a few strands of hair, the cold metal brushed against his skin, and carved a deep hole in the wall.
The chill of death brushed so vividly past his ears that Ulan Haisang's body stiffened abruptly, all his struggles and screams frozen in fear in that instant.
His pupils contracted sharply as he stared at the cold, sharp blade of the gun so close to his face, momentarily forgetting to breathe.
"Are you calm now?" Ulan Aodeng's voice was low and hoarse, carrying a suppressed pain. "Can you listen to me now?"
Ulan Haisang's lips trembled, and although the hatred in his eyes was still burning, it had been suppressed by fear.
He neither nodded nor shook his head, but stared intently at Ulan Aodeng, his chest heaving violently.
Ulan Aodeng was about to continue explaining—
Suddenly, a very faint air current came from behind, carrying a deadly chill!
Ulan Aodeng instinctively dodged to the side.
A long, narrow knife pierced past his shoulder blade, tearing through his clothes and flesh, penetrating him from below his right shoulder blade and exiting through his collarbone!
Blood splattered!
Ulan Aodeng grunted, the strength in his entire right arm was instantly drained, and the spear slipped from his hand. However, he grabbed it again with his injured left hand and thrust it backward!
The attacker was forced back, and Ulan Aodeng quickly rushed forward a few steps to create distance before turning around.
He saw a pair of eyes that were incredibly familiar, but now filled with a chilling killing intent.
Maido stood before him, holding a gleaming longsword, its blade stained with his blood, which was slowly dripping down the blood groove.
That face was all too familiar to him; it was the face of his daughter whom he had watched grow up from infancy. But the expression on that face now was one of ruthlessness, coldness, and glee that he had never seen on Mai Duo's face before.
Immediately, Ulan Aodeng realized that the Xiao Rou from before was not the spiritual entity Evelysa, but the Mai Duo in front of him, who was holding a long knife and had a sinister look on her face!
From the moment he entered this world, he was convinced that Xiaorou was Evelyn.
Furthermore, he subconsciously had no wariness towards Maiduo, his daughter—she was his daughter, the apple of his eye whom he had raised with great care, someone he would never be wary of even in his dreams.
He made such an unfortunate mistake, thinking that a sudden attack had already defeated his opponent, thus lowering his guard and leading to a sneak attack.
Xiao Rou's life or death is of no importance, nor is the miserable state of the three children—those are just pretexts to stage a self-inflicted injury, bait to distract him and focus most of his attention on Wulan Haisang!
Just when he thought he had the situation under control and was about to successfully wake his son, the real hunter revealed his fangs from behind.
Cunning Evelyn!
Evelyn shook the blood off her knife, a slight smile playing on her lips, revealing a mocking expression that seemed completely out of place with Mydo's age.
“Ulan Aodeng, right?” Her voice also borrowed Maiduo’s voice, but her tone was mature and cold, with a condescending and playful tone.
"One son wasn't enough, so you even sent an old man over. Your Dragon Bone Village is truly kind and righteous."
"But that's too foolish."
As she said this, she even tilted her head, mimicking Maiduo's usual feigned innocence.
This incongruous expression, combined with the blood-dripping long knife in her hand, is chilling.
Ulan Aodeng ignored her taunts and didn't even look at the penetrating wound on his right shoulder that was still gushing blood.
He quickly adjusted his posture, gripping the gun with one hand, the tip pointing diagonally at the ground, assuming a defensive stance.
His right arm was completely unable to be lifted, and blood flowed down his arm, gathering into a thin stream at his fingertips and dripping to his feet.
Even when he was in perfect condition, he wouldn't dare claim victory in a head-on battle against this spiritual entity with its martial arts prowess. Now that he has lost one of his hands, his marksmanship will inevitably be greatly diminished, making the situation even worse.
Even so, he did not back down an inch.
Without uttering any further words, Evelyn pushed off the ground with one foot and swiftly leaped forward, her long sword slashing at Ulan Aodeng's neck at an extremely tricky angle!
The knife-drawing movements are clean and crisp, without any unnecessary fancy moves. It is the kind of deadly knife technique that has been honed through countless life-and-death battles!
This is precisely the blade of Jiu Feng!
Ulan Aodeng felt a chill run down his spine and raised his spear horizontally with one hand to block it!
Clang! A deafening sound of metal clashing exploded in the air above the sea of flowers, sparks flying everywhere!
Ulan Aodeng was jolted backward by the blow. His left hand, which was holding the gun, was split open, and blood was gushing down. Half of his arm was numb.
Using a large gun with one hand is still too difficult.
Furthermore, playing with a large gun indoors is too restrictive; one must go to an open space to have any chance of survival!
He leaped and smashed through the window, standing in the courtyard outside.
Evelyn chased after him, twirling her sword as she looked at him.
"You're wielding a gun with one hand, and you still dare to take this knife from me?" She tilted her head, a look of approval on her face. "The old man is still quite nimble; no wonder he dared to come alone to his death."
"but--"
Her smile vanished abruptly, and she charged forward again!
This time her knife was even faster!
The flashing blades swept in like waves of snow, each strike aimed at a vital point, each blow potentially fatal!
Ulan Aodeng gritted his teeth and brought out the best in his marksmanship.
The shadows of the Six Harmonies Spear intertwined in front of him, forming an impenetrable silver screen. Sometimes it would stab out like a venomous snake spitting its tongue, and sometimes it would sweep across like a dragon wagging its tail. Every move was steady and skillful, covering an area of several meters in radius.
The clanging of swords and spears was as loud and intense as a rainstorm hitting banana leaves. Sparks flew between the two men, shredding the surrounding flowers and plants, and petals and grass clippings scattered like snowflakes.
If Ulan Aodeng had both hands, with his decades of experience wielding the Six Harmonies Spear, the outcome against a top-tier swordsman like Jiu Feng would be uncertain.
But now, he only has one hand left.
Evelyn's swordsmanship, however, was the kind that was relentless and extremely oppressive, like a storm, with each strike faster and heavier than the last, giving him no chance to breathe or adjust.
The obvious opening left by the fierce attack could not be exploited because of the loss of a hand.
After just over ten moves, Ulan Aodeng had completely fallen into a disadvantageous position.
Three deep, bone-revealing knife wounds appeared on his left arm, and a long gash was cut open under his ribs, the blood staining half of his clothes dark red.
His breathing became rapid and disordered, and each exhale carried a hint of blood.
He fought and retreated, moving from the courtyard gate of the small building into the sea of flowers, using the open space to fully utilize the length advantage of his spear and try to create distance.
But Evelyn was like a shadow, giving him no chance to create space. Her long sword clung to his rhythm like a leech, driving him step by step into a desperate situation.
Outside, inside the ventricle, Xia Tianlai stared intently at the dense waveforms and data streams on the control panel, sweat trickling down his forehead and nose.
His fingers flew across the touchscreen, bringing up layer after layer of data analysis interfaces. The holographic screen flashed with various indicators representing Ulan Aodeng's mental and physical condition.
“Heart rate spikes, adrenaline levels are abnormal, nerve signals are disordered…” Xia Tianlai’s voice grew increasingly deep, “Ao Deng… he’s injured in the mental realm!”
