Wen Shu closed the car door and shouted loudly.
Ding Heng opened his eyes and looked back.
Wen Shu yawned: "Brother-in-law, where have you been all this time?"
Ding Heng bluntly stated: "In the capital, I'll accompany Hua Qing."
Wen Shu responded with an "Oh," showing no surprise.
She was already used to her brother-in-law's unpredictable whereabouts...
Wen Shu jokingly asked, "Why don't you bring everyone along? Wouldn't it be better to have a private trip with just the five of you?"
Ding Heng wasn't annoyed, and retorted, "You little brat, why do you have so many questions?"
"hey-hey……"
Wen Shu gave an awkward laugh and changed the subject: "Have you noticed that my parents aren't very happy today?"
Ding Heng replied coldly, "What does it have to do with me?"
"really……"
Wen Shu sighed, "I also think they're making a mountain out of a molehill. They've been the same for over a decade, obsessed with saving face even at the cost of suffering..."
Ding Heng casually teased, "What's wrong? You've been spending too much time on Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform) and want to escape your family of origin?"
"Not worth it."
Wen Shu answered decisively.
It's not a matter of "yes" or "no," but rather "not worth it."
If it were back in her second year of high school, Wen Shu might have considered it carefully, but now Wen Shu's life trajectory is very different.
Therefore, she doesn't need to fight with her so-called "family of origin," let alone cut ties or escape, which would only add to her psychological burden.
If her "family" can still provide her with a little bit of affection, she will still be able to fulfill her filial duties in the future.
After listening, Ding Heng clicked his tongue lightly.
"Indeed, you're much smarter than your sister."
Ding Heng had expected Wen Jing to have this mindset, but unfortunately she was too dull and unlike Wen Shu who could see things clearly.
"That's not."
Wen Shu proudly raised her chin, her eyes crinkling with laughter: "How could someone who isn't smart get into Peking University?"
"Go, go, go."
Ding Heng was amused by his sister-in-law's smugness and asked, "What have you been doing for the past month? Just waiting for the admission notice?"
"Just get a job."
Wen Shu stretched and said, "I'll go with Bai Ma."
Ding Heng was slightly surprised: "Bai Ma? She actually went to work on her own initiative?"
"To be precise, it was she who accompanied me."
Wen Shu explained, "Since you're not in Xingcheng, she's quite bored by herself. I'm also free, so she decided to work with me."
"where?"
"M's".
"Why is it McDonald's again?"
Ding Heng blurted it out.
Wen Shu blinked: "Again?"
Before Ding Heng could answer, the car door was suddenly pulled open.
Wenjing bent down and sat in the passenger seat. She turned around and saw Wenshu, and paused for a moment.
"Xiao Shu? Why are you still in the car?"
"It's on my way."
Wen Shu replied matter-of-factly, "I have to work the night shift this afternoon, so I can go back to Xingcheng with you."
Ding Heng started the car, and it drove onto the highway.
Wenjing leaned back in her chair, her eyelids growing heavier and heavier.
Before the car had gone halfway, she had already leaned her head against the car window, her breathing gradually becoming even.
Ding Heng reached out and turned the air conditioner temperature up two degrees, then turned his head to look at the back seat.
"Your sister is asleep."
"Ah."
Wen Shu lowered her voice and reached behind her to pull the blanket back up, covering Wen Jing's shoulders.
“She’s exhausted these past few days. My mom asks her for everything, and we can’t rely on my older sister, so she’s the one who has to manage everything inside and outside the house.”
Wen Shu sighed: "In the end, it's still about saving face for my parents..."
Ding Heng didn't say anything more.
When the car came to a stop in the garage downstairs of the duplex apartment by the Xiangjiang River, Wenjing was still asleep.
Ding Heng didn't wake her up. He bent down and gently lifted her out of the back seat.
Wenjing snuggled against him, mumbled something indistinctly, and then fell into a deep sleep again.
Wen Shu followed behind and closed the car door.
The two went upstairs one after the other. Ding Heng put Wen Jing on the bed in the master bedroom, took off her shoes, and covered her with a quilt.
Wen Shu stood at the door, but did not go in.
Ding Heng turned and walked out, closing the door behind him.
"Let's go, I'll see you off."
"Ah."
The two went downstairs and got back into the car, which headed towards McDonald's where Baima worked.
Ding Heng suddenly spoke up: "Why are you still working? You got into Peking University, you must have earned a lot of money, right?"
"I gave all the money to my sister."
Wen Shu answered crisply and decisively.
Why give it to her?
"She said she would help me invest in the stock market and pay me back after I graduated from university."
You really trust her that much?
"Otherwise, who else can I trust?"
Wen Shu laughed self-deprecatingly: "My sister is the only person I can trust in this world..."
Ding Heng didn't say anything more, and the car stopped in front of McDonald's.
Through the glass window, Ding Heng spotted a petite figure in a pink uniform, standing on tiptoe to wipe the counter.
So cute...
"Xiao Shu!"
Baima spotted the two and waved excitedly.
Wen Shu got out of the car and waved to Ding Heng as she turned around.
"Goodbye, brother-in-law."
"Ah."
Ding Heng responded and watched Wen Shu run into the store to change into her uniform, where she chatted and joked with Bai Ma.
For a fleeting moment, it felt like I was seeing myself two years ago.
It was summer, and it was McDonald's.
Wenjing and Zhao Yanxi wore the same uniform and were driven to and from get off work by him...
Two years have passed in the blink of an eye.
Ding Heng's phone suddenly vibrated. He picked it up and saw that it was a message from Zhao Yanxi.
[Lucky Little Zhao]: Brother Ding Heng! You're back in Xingcheng? Why didn't you tell me! [Pouting kitten.jpg]
Ding Heng's lips curled slightly as he tapped his fingers on the screen.
[Ding Heng]: I just got home and was about to go find you.
【Lucky Zhao】: [Kitten spinning.jpg] Hurry up! I just learned a new yoga routine, I'll show it to you in a bit!
[Ding Heng]: How do we demonstrate it?
[Lucky Zhao]: Like this?

Chapter 275: Changing Wen Shu (Part 1)
Ding Heng stopped going to the capital and lived a leisurely life, sleeping until he naturally woke up every day.
Occasionally, she would accompany Zhao Yanxi shopping, be dragged by Wenjing to be a food taster, and then go to Hong Kong twice with Lin Manfei to handle business.
Hua Qing also returned to Xingcheng not long after.
According to Yang Sijie and the dance troupe's overall plan, the new play will not officially begin rehearsals until September. This one-month break in between is a rare opportunity for her to take a vacation.
Bai Ma enjoys going to and from get off work every day, but she insists on being picked up and dropped off by Ding Heng, saying it feels strange to drive a Porsche to work.
Ding Heng opened his eyes, but before he could move, an arm immediately wrapped around him.
"Boss...sleep a little longer..."
