"Do you recognize this kind of paper?"
Inspector Megure picked up the note and asked Shimizu Masato and the others who had followed him.
“This kind of paper was distributed by the community center for the village chief election, and all the villagers have it,” said Shimizu Masato.
"Why don't we go down and take a look? Let's leave this to the forensic officers!"
At Kitagawa Taki's suggestion, the group went to the warehouse on the first floor.
The warehouse was rather messy because sheet music had been searched through.
Ken Nishimoto was hanged from a beam in the warehouse.
"Inspector, this is sheet music that was found at Nishimoto Fitness!"
Takagi Wataru handed a sheet of music to Inspector Megure.
"Conan!" Inspector Megure handed the phone to Conan.
After a moment, Conan read aloud: "The resentment of sins is erased here!"
Kogoro Mori exclaimed, "The resentment of sin... could it be referring to that Keiji Aso?!"
Inspector Megure pondered for a moment and said, "It should be that 'eliminating the crime here' means the murder case is closed."
Conan put down the sheet music and looked at the tape recorder next to him. He checked it and found that there was a 15-minute blank period on the tape.
The murderer had timed it perfectly; the tape was about to be played.
Kitagawa Taki said, "I think we can investigate the connections between the deceased; they should also be connected to Keiji Aso!"
“Inspector, call that old man back! He’s been a policeman on the island for decades and knows the people and things here very well,” Kogoro Mouri said.
Inspector Megure nodded and called the old man.
……
A dozen minutes later.
The old man rushed back, panting heavily.
After letting the old man rest for a while, Inspector Megure asked, "Sir, I have something to ask you. Do you know the relationship between Kuroiwa Tatsuji, Nishimoto Ken, and Kawashima Hideo?"
"They grew up together since they were little. In fact, not only them, but also the former village chief Kameyama Isamu and that Aso Keiji."
Inspector Megure and Kogoro Mouri exchanged a glance, and the group connected!
The old man continued, "All four of them were eyewitnesses to Keiji Aso's arson and suicide!"
The facts are gradually becoming clearer: Keiji Aso may not have committed suicide, and those four people are the murderers!
Thinking of this, Kogoro Mori hurriedly asked, "What about Kazuaki Hirata?"
The old man said, "That man is a coward and weak man. I don't think he would do something like this. However, I often see him and Hideo Kawashima acting suspiciously at the community center."
Kogoro Mouri's lips curled up; he had figured out the details of this series of murders!
Hirata Kazuaki's cowardice and weakness were just a facade; he was the murderer!
The five men were originally in the business of selling heroin together. Perhaps due to a dispute over the division of the spoils, Hirata Kazuaki used an incident from twelve years ago to kill the other four men, hoping to mislead the police into investigating someone connected to Aso Keiji.
No, that Kameyama Isamu died two years ago!
Why did it take two years?
Kogoro Mouri asked Narumi Asami, "Miss Narumi, you were the one who performed the autopsy on Chief Kameyama two years ago, weren't you? What was the cause of his death?"
Asagi said, "It was indeed me who tested positive. I remember it was a heart attack and sudden death."
If it wasn't murder, then it makes sense. Hirata Kazuaki most likely learned the truth from Kameyama Isamu by accident.
With this in mind, Kogoro Mouri confidently declared, "I know who the culprit is!"
Chapter 304 Conan Feels a Chill All Over His Body
All eyes were on Kogoro Mouri.
"Ahem." Kogoro Mouri cleared his throat and said, "This matter should be traced back to the death of Keiji Aso's family twelve years ago. They were murdered by Ken Nishimoto, Tatsuji Kuroiwa, Hideo Kawashima, and Isamu Kameyama!"
These men likely took advantage of Keiji Aso's overseas performances to get him to buy heroin, but when Aso refused to help them anymore, they feared their secret would be exposed and murdered Aso's entire family.
Inspector Megure speculated, "Was the killer seeking revenge for the Aso family?"
Kogoro Mouri shook his head: "No, this is just a smokescreen. The culprit is the missing Kazuaki Hirata!"
He must have accidentally learned the truth about what happened back then, and because of a dispute over the spoils, he decided to kill and rob!
Seeing that everyone was stunned by his reasoning, Kogoro Mouri smiled smugly and continued:
"Kuroiwa Tatsuji and Nishimoto Ken didn't stand up at the time because they knew that if their shady dealings were exposed, they would not have a good ending."
The reason they knowingly left the ritual room and went to the broadcasting room and warehouse was because of the missing heroin!
Kitagawa Taki couldn't help but applaud Kogoro Mouri; it was quite remarkable that he could make the whole thing sound so reasonable despite being wrong.
It wasn't for nothing that he went to such lengths to smear Hirata Kazuaki.
Conan, however, sensed something was amiss. What Kogoro Mouri said seemed reasonable, and he had thought about it too.
However, there are two loopholes. First, why would the murderer send a warning letter to Kogoro Mouri and Taki Kitagawa?
Furthermore, if the murderer was Hirata Kazuaki, why would he move Kawashima Hideo's body to the music room?
Why would he lead people there and then go through all that trouble to retrieve them at night?
Therefore, Conan believes that Hirata Kazuaki is not the culprit in the serial murders.
He always felt that there was a force pushing things in the wrong direction.
Is he the real culprit hiding behind the scenes?
Conan's gaze swept across the faces of Masato Shimizu and the others involved. Who was it?
……
The serial killings have now come to an end, and the police will issue an arrest warrant for Hirata Kazuaki.
No matter how unwilling Conan was, he was helpless; he had no evidence whatsoever.
"Let's go, we'll go to the hotel to get your things first, then head back to Tokyo!"
Kogoro Mouri said to Ran and Ai Haibara.
The two nodded.
Kitagawa Taki, however, left the group on the way, making an excuse that he still had something to give away.
clinic.
"Mr. Kitagawa, what brings you here?"
Asagi Minoru showed no joy of revenge on his face.
Kitagawa Taki closed the clinic door and said, "Should I call you Dr. Narumi, or Dr. Seiji?"
Asagi looked stunned for a moment, then smiled with relief: "So you already knew."
His voice changed, "Mr. Kitagawa, don't worry, I will turn myself in."
Kitagawa Taki knew that his surrender actually meant suicide.
"does it worth?"
"Revenge?" A look of confusion appeared in Asagi Masayuki's eyes. "I don't know. After doing all this, I don't feel any sense of satisfaction from revenge."
"My hands are already stained with the blood of those four people." Asagi looked down at his hands.
Kitagawa Taki shook his head and said, "My question is, is it worth committing suicide for four scumbags like that?"
Asagi stared wide-eyed at Kitagawa Taki, wondering how Kitagawa Taki had read his mind.
"This is what your father left you."
Kitagawa Taki took out the sheet music, which was in a brown leather bag.
Asagi's hands trembled as he took the sheet music, opened the leather bag, and the first sentence inside was—
"Sung-sil, you must survive on your own."
"Father!" Asagi Masako finally couldn't suppress his emotions any longer, and tears streamed down his face.
That's all I have to say. The decision is yours!
After saying that, Kitagawa Taki turned and left. If Asano Sakai insisted on committing suicide, there was nothing he could do.
"Mr. Kitagawa, thank you!"
Asagi Nami bowed deeply to Kitagawa Taki.
Kitagawa Taki stopped and turned around, saying, "You'd better leave this island as soon as possible."
……
hostel.
Conan was distracted, his mind filled with nothing but the case.
"Mr. Aso and his family are so pitiful. Those guys didn't even spare the children," Ran sighed.
Kogoro Mouri said, "Those people are all selling heroin; they're all vicious and ruthless!"
Conan, however, noticed the word "child".
Children, children...
What if the murderer really came to avenge the Aso family?
"Uncle Mori, Sister Ran, I'm going out for a bit, I'll be right back!"
After saying that, Conan ran off in a hurry.
"Hey, that brat!" Kogoro Mouri shook his head.
Conan had only been gone for two minutes when Kitagawa Taki returned.
"Where's Conan?" Kitagawa Taki couldn't find Conan anywhere.
