Rufus didn't understand, but seeing how serious Tutu Maru was, he had no choice but to agree.
However, what he was really thinking was, how could a mere wild mage be worthy of such attention from a former outstanding graduate like Rabbit Maru...
In the center of the arena, Hyberion's long-winded speech had Hope and Erza drowsy, but thankfully it was finally over.
"I announce!"
"The magical battle exchange between Mildian Magic Academy and Fairy Tail has officially begun!"
"All instructors and students, please register in an orderly manner to challenge these two mages from Fairy Tail!"
Just as Hyberion stepped off the battle platform, a figure leaped down from the stands and landed lightly.
He was a meticulously dressed red-haired instructor with two silver stars embedded in his badge on his chest. He raised his chin, and fiery flames danced between his fingertips.
"Barbarians from the guild!"
"Let me, Kyle von Eisenberg, son of Count Eisenberg of the Kingdom of Fiore, a two-star outstanding instructor at Mildian Magic Academy..."
"You talk too much nonsense."
Hope yawned, and casually flicked his wrist, a spark that instantly transformed into a raging inferno covering half the sky, knocking the guy with the long name unconscious with a single blow.
The noise from the stands suddenly stopped.
Several students who were about to cheer stood there with their mouths agape, their expressions frozen on their faces.
Hope picked at his ear and glanced defiantly at the more than one hundred people in the stands around him. "My companion and I are in a hurry. All of you teachers and students can come at us together. Don't worry, the two of us can handle it."
The entire room fell silent.
Then came a continuous stream of angry shouts from the crowd.
Erza sighed and whispered to Hope, "While I wouldn't mind taking them on one-on-one, you're being too reckless."
"We're going to have to fight anyway, so let's all go at it together and make it faster."
Hope shrugged nonchalantly, watching the professors and students who had jumped down from the stands. "It's time to tear down the ivory tower and let them see the outside world."
Chapter 120 Crushing Pride
"Black Tiger Claws Out the Heart!"
"Mount Tai pressing down!"
"Try my Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl!"
"Lotus Float~"
"Flying Hammer!"
"A crow flies an airplane—"
As one strange and humorous move after another was shouted out, the instructors and students from Mildian Magic Academy who came to challenge him fell one after another, defeated by Hope, who was cosplaying as Black Tiger Afu.
Hope kicked away a student's newly formed earthen wall, then performed a backflip to dodge a wind blade attacking from behind.
Hope had to wait for the teachers and students to unleash their magic before she could act, because she needed to use the system to record the magic. But Erza was different.
After donning the Heavenly Wheel Armor, she summoned a large number of wooden swords she used for sword practice. Before many people could even unleash their magic, the wooden swords had already struck the back of their necks.
A dozen wooden swords whistled past, tracing graceful arcs in the air, and accurately struck each challenger's wrist or the back of the neck, instantly rendering them unable to fight.
Apart from the two powerful instructors, only a few students were able to stand under the Heavenly Wheel Sword Formation.
"This...this is impossible..."
In the stands, among the twenty-odd students who were too young to participate in the challenge, Rufus stood up in a daze.
He finally understood why Usagi-sensei had been so serious before; the strength of these two guild mages completely exceeded his imagination.
"Bunny Maru, are all the mages in the guild as strong as them?" Another mentor who hadn't participated looked at Bunny Maru beside him.
Rabbit Maru nodded with a complicated expression. "Our academy's outstanding graduates are all at the level of S-class mages. After leaving the academy, they are sought after by various countries."
"But those powerful guilds, which one doesn't have a few S-rank mages trained in-house?"
"For example, the Phantom Lords I joined before included four S-rank mages besides myself, all of whom were trained by the Phantom Lords' family. And I, an outstanding graduate, could only defeat one of them, who preferred to use underhanded tactics..."
Upon hearing this, the instructor's face turned ugly.
The competition for the academy's outstanding graduate award is fierce, as there's only one spot each year. Even someone as exceptional as Usagi-maru isn't the absolute best among those "barbaric" guild mages...
Rabbit Maru pointed to Hope and Erza, who seemed to be playing against bots in the arena, and said, "Actually, when I found out that it was the two of them who were conducting the 'magical battle exchange' with our academy, I already knew that we would lose badly this time."
The mentor, however, remained defiant, saying, "Impossible. Our Samsung mentors haven't even stepped in yet. Everything will be fine once the Samsung mentors intervene."
"Hehe~" Rabbit Maru chuckled lightly, then suddenly changed the subject, "Do you think a three-star mentor can hurt a Saint Ten level mage?"
The instructor shook his head. "If someone could reach the level of the 'Ten Saints,' they would be serving as instructors at the academy and would already be honored guests of various factions. Not everyone is Dean Hayberian."
"They're quite self-aware," Rabbit Maru muttered to himself, glancing again at Hope and Erza, who were already spinning the challenger like a top. "But those two... are the ruthless guys who teamed up to cut off one of Joseph's legs in a head-on battle."
The tutor gasped, his face filled with disbelief.
Although Joseph has been stripped of his title as one of the "Ten Saints" and is wanted by the Council, he was once a true member of the Ten Saints and one of the strongest mages on this continent.
Yet even such a powerful figure had his leg crippled in a direct battle by two juniors...
The mentor suddenly felt a sense of shattering of his Daoist resolve.
They jokingly refer to guild mages as "barbarians" and "wild mages," but in reality, they are the ones who are truly ignorant.
Their self-perceived "superiority" stemmed solely from the world's respect for Mildian Magic Academy, coupled with the prestige of Hyberion, the "second-best of the Ten Saints"...
Without those two halos, in the magical world, this group of teachers and students wouldn't be considered mediocre, but they certainly wouldn't reach the top level. After all, being intelligent doesn't guarantee becoming an excellent mage.
No wonder the dean and head of academic affairs disregarded the objections of many instructors and students and invited mages from Fairy Tail to conduct magical exchanges with the academy.
Dean Hayberion is determined to crush the pride that doesn't belong to them in one fell swoop.
The overwhelming victory left Hayberion and Gladstone, watching from the audience, shaking their heads in disbelief.
They could see it clearly: the moment the defeated people released their magic, Hope's fist arrived. He didn't use any magic; he simply overwhelmed everyone with pure physical skills and speed.
On the other side, Erza relied on her experience to overwhelm the challengers. Most of them were defeated before they even had a chance to unleash their magic. The remaining challengers also couldn't hold out for long after Erza changed into the stronger Black Feather Armor.
Mildian Magic Academy possesses the best magic teaching resources on the continent, but in terms of combat awareness, students must hone their skills on their own.
However, the negative atmosphere of feeling superior makes students unwilling to go out and hone their skills. In their eyes, friendly classmates and kind teachers are the best helpers for training.
But the gentle academy is precisely not a place to hone one's character.
Guild mages need to constantly take on missions to survive. Not to mention the S-rank missions that are on the verge of life and death, even ordinary subjugation missions involve facing evil dark mages or multiple monsters.
This results in the fact that although the knowledge reserves of the upper echelons of the guild are not as good as those of the academics, their social experience and combat awareness far surpass those of the academics who grew up in a greenhouse.
World of Warcraft won't give you much time to craft intricate magic circles.
The ruthless methods of dark mages render any pretentious elegance in the academy utterly useless.
The defeated mentors and students on the field were all dejected.
Hyberion turned back to look at the three-star mentors who had previously refused to participate due to their status. Their shocked or thoughtful expressions brought a satisfied smile to his face.
Those who are able to enter Mildian Magic Academy to study and stay to teach are, in the end, all intelligent people. Presumably, most of them have realized their intentions and their mistakes.
If the mentors can adjust their mindset, the students will be influenced and gradually change, bringing the college's atmosphere back on the right track.
As for those few stubborn fools who remain obstinate... plenty of people will teach them a lesson in the future.
As the sounds from the battle platform subsided, Hyberion's original plan to complete its objective in three days was swiftly resolved by Hope and Erza.
Chapter 121 Echoes of Paradise
The three-day "magical exchange" was completed ahead of schedule. Instead of letting Hope and Erza leave early, Hyberion invited them to visit Mildian Magic Academy.
Led by their "old acquaintance" Rabbit Maru, Hope and Erza strolled through the magnificent campus of Mildian Magic Academy.
Unlike the tense atmosphere before, every student and mentor I met along the way looked at me with awe, curiosity, and even a touch of shame.
No one dared to call them "barbarians" or "wild mages" anymore. Strength was the best language; it could shatter arrogance and earn respect.
"This is our main teaching building, the 'Tower of Wisdom'."
Rabbit Maru pointed to a spire nearly a hundred meters high and introduced, "It contains the most complete collection of magic theory books on the continent, from ancient lost magic to modern magic analysis, it has everything."
Erza's eyes lit up. She didn't care about books on magic theory, but the analyses of many spells were still quite good. Magic information was a crucial factor in determining the outcome of battles, so it was always good to know some.
"Can we go in and take a look?"
“Of course, the dean specifically instructed that you two are welcome to visit anywhere within the academy.” Rabbit Maru gestured for them to proceed.
Erza looked at Hope, who actually didn't want to go. After all, it was just theory and analysis, not direct magic, and he didn't need things that couldn't be included in the system.
But Erza was unusually interested, and Hope didn't want to spoil the fun.
As the three entered the Tower of Wisdom, a scent of scrolls mixed with ancient parchment wafted towards them. Huge circular bookshelves stretched upwards layer by layer, seemingly without end.
Students and tutors moved quietly among the students, some engrossed in their studies, others exchanging ideas in the specially soundproofed classrooms. Many cast surprised glances at Hope and Erza upon their arrival, but quickly looked away and went back to their own business.
“Wow, this place is so much bigger than Magnolia’s library,” Hope exclaimed softly. Although he wasn’t a bookworm, he was still amazed by the sheer size of the collection.
Erza walked straight to an area labeled "Practical Magic and Tactical Deduction," pulled out a thick book whose title she didn't know, and began to read it with great interest.
Looking at Erza's serious expression, Rabbit Maru couldn't help but sigh, "Miss Erza is always striving to improve herself."
Hope shrugged. Erza wasn't the type to enjoy reading. Apart from young adult novels, she considered it a success if she could manage to read other books for ten minutes.
Hope casually glanced at the bookshelf and spotted a row of books on "Optimizing the Energy Flow Efficiency of Magic Circles".
These are things that no guild would dedicate the effort to researching; only magic academies have the time and manpower to delve into them.
This is the advantage of a magic academy.
The three spent some time in the library, and then visited the magic practice area, the magic tool research workshop, and the planetarium.
Finally, they arrived at the Hall of Honor of Mildian Magic Academy.
This place houses portraits of past deans and outstanding graduates for students to admire and learn about. Sure enough, Hope saw Gladstone's photo; back then, his feet were still natural...
Hope also saw Rabbit Maru's photo and couldn't help but tease, "I didn't realize you were the best in your year."
Rabbit Maru gave a wry smile. He was quite proud when he first graduated, but after being brutally beaten down by society, he became much more docile, especially since the person who beat him up was right in front of him...
