"Therefore, I think that Hope's suggestion of games is beneficial to both mind and body, promotes unity and friendship among everyone, and is a positive force."
What nonsense is this guy spouting...?
Even though Laxus didn't use lightning magic, everyone was still stunned by his words, including Hope.
To save face, you even went so far as to fawn over Hope? Hakirak... you really... we're going to cry, no, we're going to die laughing.
However, fearing that their laughter would anger Laxus, everyone tried to recall sad memories and suppress their smiles.
Seeing that no one objected, Hope used "Wings of Water" to randomly teleport everyone into the underground labyrinth.
Chapter 321 Unbreakable
The group was randomly teleported to various parts of the Great Labyrinth by the power of the 'Wings of Water'.
The surrounding light dimmed abruptly after the teleportation light dissipated.
Natsu lit a flame and found himself standing in a passageway made of mud, with fluorescent moss gleaming eerily white against the rough, uneven walls.
Lucy peeked out from behind him. "It's just the two of us. It seems everyone else has been scattered."
"Isn't this great?" Natsu said excitedly. "Last time during the Tenrou Island trial, I failed to find the First Generation's grave. This time, I'm determined to be the first to find the Heart of the Dragon!"
"Lucy! Let's go!"
Without giving Lucy a chance to speak, Natsu immediately started running wildly through the maze passage. Lucy, whose hand was being held tightly by him and who was almost being dragged away, looked utterly hopeless.
"Natsu, why are you running so fast? We don't even know where the heart is!"
"It's okay! My gut tells me that just keep running in one direction!"
"But this is a maze...there are dead ends."
No sooner had he finished speaking than two forks in the road appeared ahead.
Natsu rushed toward the left passage without hesitation, but after only a few steps, several huge, yellowish-brown tentacles suddenly emerged from the side wall. Each one was as thick as a bucket and had sharp spikes at the top.
"Watch out! It's a trap hidden in the wall!" Lucy quickly grabbed Natsu.
Natsu grinned, flames erupting from his fists: "Perfect timing! Watch me smash them!"
The fists wreathed in flames clashed relentlessly with the clay tentacles, instantly filling the entire passage with heat waves. Yet, the mechanical tentacles were merely repelled, without even a scratch.
"How could this be?!"
Lucy was astonished by this scene. Even Natsu's power couldn't destroy it; it was just a mechanism, why was it made so sturdy...?
Undeterred, Natsu continued his attack on the wall where the trigger was located, unleashing a barrage of Ora Ora Ora attacks, but only leaving a few burn marks on the wall and the mechanism.
Lucy immediately realized that there was something wrong with the maze.
After all, it was formed from the body of the Earth God Dragon. If it were so easy to destroy Elevseria, there would be no need for them to ask for help.
Since the touch screen puzzle ahead was difficult to overcome by force, and it was uncertain how many more such puzzles there were, Lucy forcibly dragged Natsu, who was trying to get stuck in a rut, towards another fork in the road.
However, this road is not without its share of troubles.
Along the way, there were floor traps, collapsing ceilings, and suddenly closing walls, one after another, turning their maze adventure into an escape game.
After dodging a giant rolling boulder trap, a disheveled Natsu and Lucy finally escaped the passage and arrived at a less crowded intersection.
Natsu sniffed the air. "The magic here smells really strange."
Lucy looked around, afraid that she might accidentally trigger some mechanism again. Fortunately, the place was empty except for a clay sculpture shaped like a hand standing in front of a wall.
Natsu curiously leaned closer and discovered that the clay hand was holding a jet-black gem the size of a billiard ball. "What is this?"
"Natsu, don't touch it! What if it's another trap..."
Before Lucy could finish speaking, there was a loud bang, and Natsu had forcibly dug out the gem, tearing most of the clay sculpture in the process, which startled her so much that her eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Natsu examined the smooth black crystal. "What's wrong? Nothing's wrong at all. Lucy, you're overthinking it. I think this is a treasure from the labyrinth."
Lucy facepalmed. "The maze was created by the Earth Dragon. Do you really think that evil dragon would be so kind? 'Treasure,' she said. I'd be grateful if it wasn't anything bad..."
Click—click—
As if to prove Lucy right, several clay monsters made of clods of earth, resembling bronze beasts, appeared.
Natsu and Lucy immediately went into battle mode.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"
"Open the door to Taurus! Talos!"
Natsu slammed his fist into the head of the mud monster, and Talos's giant axe swung down mercilessly. As long as the enemy wasn't a beautiful woman, this lecherous bull was still somewhat useful.
However, the attacks of the man and the bull had no effect whatsoever. Only Talos managed to force the monster back a few steps by relying on his brute strength.
"My attacks aren't working again?!" Natsu said, somewhat annoyed. "What the hell is this damn maze... Can't we just have some fun?"
"This has nothing to do with the game..."
Lucy didn't forget her role as the tsukkomi (straight man). Watching Natsu and her Celestial Spirit companions relentlessly attack the mud monster, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration and thought of something.
So that's it. These monsters are made of the same material as the walls and floors of the maze, which is why Natsu and Talos can't destroy them.
Lucy observed more closely and discovered that although the monster possessed an indestructible body, it had no magical attack methods and could only rely on brute force like a wild beast.
This is similar to Talos; the Taurus celestial spirits don't have magic, but they have plenty of strength.
Natsu knocked down a monster with a powerful punch, and upon hearing Lucy's discovery, he said, "This is troublesome. At this rate, we'll have no choice but to retreat?"
As expected of one of the few Fairy Tail members who had read books, Lucy immediately came up with a solution: "The monsters are made of the same material as the dungeons, but in the end they are also lifeless magical creations. To make these inanimate objects move, we should need some kind of core as a driving force."
Talos collided with a monster. "No, Miss Lucy, we can't even break through the monster's defenses, so how can we possibly destroy its core?"
"The core doesn't necessarily have to be inside the body."
Lucy took out the Scorpio Key and summoned Scorpio Celestial Spirit Scapio. "Scapio, please bury those monsters with sand."
"Understood, Boss!"
Scapio immediately used the "Sand" magic, and the laser cannon on his scorpion tail gathered a large amount of sand and dust, which he then blasted at all the monsters.
The dense sand pelted the monster's hard body, making a continuous pattering sound.
Two Celestial Spirits blocked the monster, and Natsu curiously returned to Lucy's side, "It doesn't seem to be working?"
Lucy smiled slightly, "Let the sand fly for a while."
Sure enough, a few dozen seconds later, one of the monsters in the sandstorm suddenly froze, making creaking sounds from its body, as if its joints were stuck by something.
"Talos! Now!"
A glint flashed in Lucy's eyes, and Talos swung his axe, accurately striking the joint of the malfunctioning monster. A crystal the size of a glass bead rolled off the severed limb and was crushed by Scapio's foot.
The next second, the mutilated monster instantly disintegrated and shattered into pieces on the ground.
"Wow! As expected of Lucy!"
Natsu gave a thumbs up, turned around and joined the battle. After finding out the location of the operating core, Natsu was like a tiger entering a flock of sheep, taking them down cleanly and efficiently.
A one-sided battle is boring. Lucy held up the black gem that Natsu had just handed her.
Natsu had just pried this thing off when the monster appeared.
This doesn't seem like a coincidence at all, does it?
Chapter 322 The Unexpected Person
Natsu and Lucy's experience also happened to the others in the dungeon; everyone discovered the Black Gem and was then chased by monsters.
The mages of Fairy Tail are never short of clever tricks in battle.
Soon, the scattered group discovered the monster's weakness and easily defeated it using their individual skills, continuing their adventure to find the heart of the magic dragon.
The three cats that were coincidentally assigned to the same group were in a completely different situation from the others.
The three little ones ran wildly through the narrow passage, the roars and heavy footsteps of a group of monsters behind them causing the fluorescent moss on the walls to fall in a rustling sound.
Happy clutched a black crystal tightly, his magical wings flapping so hard they were almost smoking, "Waaaaah! Why are they still chasing me?!"
"I told you not to take things randomly! But you still insisted on taking this thing." Although Xia Lulu complained, she kept flying behind and to the side of Happy, keeping an eye on the nearest monster out of the corner of her eye.
"Hehe, we just wanted to give Natsu a gift, in case we didn't find Falong's heart, we'd still have a consolation prize."
Xia Lulu turned her head away with an aloof air; she would never reveal that she also wanted to get a black gemstone to give to Wendy.
Lili glanced back at the approaching horde of monsters. Although the mud monsters were clumsy, there were at least twenty or thirty of them, crowding the entire passage.
Having been a general in another world, Rili remained calm. It had noticed a faint magical glow at one of the monster's joints, which was the core that supported the monster's movements.
The problem is, how are those three cats going to deal with so many?
Lili is very capable in combat, but that's only compared to those who surpass it. Faced with such a large group of relentlessly pursuing monsters, it has no chance to make a move at all.
"This can't go on. Our physical strength and magic power are limited, but these monsters don't seem to get tired. We need to find a way to get rid of them."
Before Lili could finish speaking, two more paths suddenly appeared in the passage ahead.
Harpy's eyes lit up. "Split up? They'll only chase us if we're carrying the gem!"
He said that, but what Blue Cat was thinking was something else entirely.
Xia Lulu must be very moved by our selfless dedication.
However, the little white cat's face was almost black with anger. "It's all your fault for causing this trouble. What are you trying to do now? If you're going to leave, let's leave together!"
"Xia Lulu, are you worried about us? We're so touched."
I was so angry that the cat licked me.
Seeing the monster getting closer and closer behind, Rili drew his small magic sword, intending to buy Happy and Charlu some time to escape.
"Turn right ahead!" Xia Lulu suddenly said, "My precognitive abilities show an old man over there who will help us!"
Harpy and Lili instinctively turned around, and the three cats, under Charlotte's command, dashed left and right through the maze. Although the monster behind them was temporarily left behind, it never completely escaped the pursuit.
After another sharp turn, Xia Lulu stopped, panting, "I can't... I... I can't fly anymore..."
However, the most fatal thing was that they ran into a dead end.
The good news was that there really was an old man there. Habi quickly ran to the sprightly old man in black robes, "Grandpa! Help!"
