"Good heavens, Loki, that guy with thick eyebrows and big eyes, actually wants to reach the highest level. Isn't he a bit too eager to improve?" Baili Pangpang complained.

“There is an insurmountable gap between the chief god and the supreme god. No matter how strong Loki is, he is just a chief god. What can he use to challenge the supreme god?” Lin Qiye asked.

“Loki currently possesses two pills stolen from Kunlun Ruins. One is an immortal pill that grants eternal life, allowing mortals to instantly become gods and enabling chief gods to reach the highest god realm,” Leng Xuan explained.

"There's also the Soul-Shattering Pill, which causes the soul to scatter, the body to perish, and even gods to fall," Gu Tianchen added.

"Asgard is currently beset by internal and external troubles, and without a supreme god-king to oversee it, Loki must be getting anxious and wants to take a risk and gamble with these two pills to try and break through to the supreme realm."

"So he encouraged those mountain giants to capture humans in large numbers in order to set up a substitution array to prevent Thor and the others from disturbing him when he was trying to reach the highest god realm."

"Xiao Nan's task for me is to find the substitution array that Loki set up and destroy it," Leng Xuan said.

Gu Tianchen asked, "Brother Leng, if I remember correctly, this substitution array should be a magic array that slaughters a large number of humans and absorbs their souls to complete the resurrection, right?"

"That's right, how did you know?" Leng Xuan asked curiously.

"How I know this is not important. What's important is that I feel sorry for those people Loki slaughtered. I want to kill Loki and avenge them!"

"And in order to prevent these poor souls from becoming wandering ghosts, I have decided to use the legitimate Emperor's Banner of my Great Xia Dynasty to perform a ritual for them!" Gu Tianchen said righteously.

Baili Pangpang was shocked. "Holy crap! You still say it's not the Myriad Soul Banner? Aren't you obviously trying to collect their souls to forge the Myriad Soul Banner?!"

They're not even going to act anymore?!

Chapter 509 The Whereabouts of the Memorial

"The substitution formation must be destroyed. We can't let Loki have any backup plans. Brother Leng Xuan, have you found any clues?" Lin Qiye asked.

“I’ve been searching for the whereabouts of the substitution array lately. There are quite a few Loki followers in the human world, right near the church.”

"They're also like the mountain giants, capturing people for Loki. I suspect they might have information about the suicide array," Leng Xuan replied.

Lin Qiye nodded and said, "Okay, let's search together and take this opportunity to find out where Ji Nian is."

Leng Xuan said, "I know where Jinian is. She is imprisoned in Helheim, which is the underworld in Norse mythology."

"Besides Hela, the Queen of the Underworld, the Underworld is also guarded by Fenrir the wolf and Jormungandr the mortal serpent."

"Hela's strength is no less than Thor's, and in the Underworld, with her home-field advantage, she may be even more troublesome than Thor."

"The power of Fenrir and Jormungandr, these two world-destroying monsters, is such that even top-tier main gods would not gain much advantage against them."

"If we want to save them, we have to take a long-term approach. Memorial has too many secrets and is still useful to Loki."

"At least until Loki successfully reaches the Supreme God realm, there will be no danger."

“Alright, let’s settle things here first, then we can go to the Underworld to rescue people,” Lin Qiye said.

Gu Tianchen asked, "Where is the church? Point me in the right direction."

……

The pristine white church stands in the central square of the town, seemingly out of place amidst the surrounding desolation.

Bishop Lance, dressed in a red robe and sporting a snow-white beard, was brainwashing the villagers.

"My people, offer your souls to the great god of fire, Loki! The eternal flame will bless every one of the gods' favored people!"

Bishop Lance opened his arms and closed his eyes, as if embracing the arrival of God.

boom!

Suddenly, the altar behind Lance, burning with holy fire, exploded, blowing the entire roof of the church off.

Lance dove under the table with lightning speed, and judging from his practiced movements, he was quite the professional at surviving.

"Oh my God, what happened?"

"The sacred flame suddenly exploded on its own for no apparent reason. Did we offend the great God of Fire?"

"We're doomed! I heard that the God of Fire is extremely cruel in dealing with blasphemers. Maybe we should run away."

The guards around the church rushed forward, holding long guns to stop the civilians who were trying to escape.

"Go back, all of you! Defectors, die!"

The common people were forced to return, lying prostrate in the hall like lambs to the slaughter, not daring to even raise their heads.

"Your Excellency, Your Excellency, are you alright?"

Several guards quickly pulled the trembling Lance out from under the table.

"What happened?" Lance asked in a terrified tone.

“Your Excellency, the sacred fire… has exploded.” One of the guards said, pointing to the broken fire altar behind him.

"How dare you!!!"

Lance roared at the kneeling commoners in the hall, which frightened them so much that they trembled and buried their heads even deeper.

"It must be that one of you did not pray sincerely, which angered the great God of Fire!"

"Hand over the blasphemers among you now, or I will make you all pay with your lives!"

Lance glared and roared in exasperation.

Everyone lay on the ground, no one daring to make a sound, for fear that the slightest mistake would be punished by the bishop.

Lance's cold, snake-like eyes swept over all the civilians, finally settling on an old man.

"It's you! It's definitely you!"

Lance pointed at the old man and said in an irrefutable tone, "The great Vulcan told me that it was you, old man, who blasphemed the gods!"

"Go, tie that old man to the stake and let the great holy fire purify his filthy soul!"

Two burly guards immediately stepped forward, lifted the emaciated old man, and carried him toward the stake.

"It wasn't me, it really wasn't me! Your Excellency the Bishop, please investigate! Great Vulcan, please investigate!" the old man pleaded.

Lance coldly watched the old man being tied to the stake.

He knew, of course, that the old man was innocent, but Lance needed to find a scapegoat to make an example of him, so that these lowly commoners would not dare to rebel against the great divine authority.

"ignition!"

Lance waved his hand, and the guard threw the torches he was holding into the dry wood.

Dry wood meets a raging fire, and the rising flames, like venomous snakes, lick at the innocent old man!

Snapped!

Just as the flames were about to touch the old man's body, a crisp snap of fingers rang out.

The fierce flames were extinguished instantly, as if a miracle had occurred.

"How did the fire go out by itself?"

"Could it be that he isn't a blasphemer?"

"Perhaps the Vulcan took pity on him and spared his life?"

The guard looked at Lance with an embarrassed expression, "Your Excellency, this..."

"What are you looking at? Blasphemers are guilty of heinous crimes and must be executed! Pour oil on this old man, I don't believe we can't burn him to death!" Lance said viciously.

The guard picked up a bucket of oil, walked up to the old man, opened the lid, and was about to pour it over the old man's head.

boom!

A bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, hitting the guard directly and instantly numbing him, causing him to fall straight to the ground.

"Holy crap, may he be struck by lightning! This guard is the blasphemer?!"

boom!

As they were speaking, another bolt of lightning descended from the sky, passing through the roofless church and striking directly at Bishop Lance!

Bishop Lance quickly dodged, and the expensive wooden table was instantly chopped into a pile of charred remains.

boom!

The church door was kicked open and flew past Bishop Lance, who had just peeked out, before embedding itself in the wall behind it!

Lance was so frightened that he immediately lay down on the ground and prayed for the protection of the great god of fire, Loki.

"Old man, you dodged pretty fast."

Gu Tianchen, disguised as Jack, swaggered in carrying the Thunder Hammer.

"Guards! Protect the Emperor! Quickly, protect the Emperor!"

A group of guards surrounded Gu Tianchen with long spears and thrust them at him fiercely.

clang!

The sound of metal clashing rang out, and the guards were completely dumbfounded. Was this guy even human?

"39 volts!"

Gu Tianchen raised the Thunder Hammer high in his hand, and the Thunder Hammer crackled with terrifying electric current, directly numbing the guards.

"Who...who are you?!"

Bishop Lance looked at the blond, blue-eyed, burly man wielding a hammer and couldn't help but dart backward.

“I am Captain Jack Sparrow, Thor’s agent, you bastard, what mischief are you sending Loki to do here?” Gu Tianchen asked, swinging his crackling Thunder Hammer.

Upon hearing that it was an agent of Thor, Loki's mortal enemy, Lance immediately gained courage and said with unwavering resolve:

"Even if I die, even if I jump off this cliff, I will not utter a single word!"

Gu Tianchen didn't speak, but silently placed the Thunder Hammer in his hand on Bishop Lance's chest.

"puff!"

Lance felt as if Gu Tianchen had placed a small mountain on his chest, and he immediately spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Ahem, I'll talk... I'll talk..."

"Oh, you're saying that already? I still prefer your tough and unyielding look from earlier. I haven't even had a chance to use my 100,000 volts yet."
