"Intelligent life always follows desires; it can be said that desires are an important driving force for progress."
"The fulfillment of all desires means the loss of desire; the loss of desire means no longer looking forward, but becoming slumber in the present... The loss of ambition is terrifying..."
………………
Then came curiosity. They began to try new experiences, new thrills, new pleasures.
What started as harmless entertainment later turned into a crazy ritual.
The screen flashed across a series of disturbing images.
The Eldar indulged in extravagant banquets, danced wildly in bizarre rituals, and succumbed to forbidden knowledge.
Every scene was stunningly beautiful, yet it exuded a deep-seated rot that made viewers feel uneasy.
Well, except for some people with a strong appetite.
Religious sects pursuing happiness have sprung up everywhere, and hedonism has become the mainstream belief in Eldar society.
The gods of the past are gradually being forgotten.
[And the Eldar's overly intense emotions are feeding something through the Warp.]
The scene suddenly shifted to subspace. It was a chaotic realm where countless emotions and desires surged like a boiling ocean.
And in the deepest part of this ocean, something is awakening.
During the height of the Eldar Empire, the clown troupe began touring the cities.
In the scene, a group of dancers dressed in gorgeous costumes and wearing masks appear in the Eldar city.
Their dance moves were so beautiful they were almost eerie, and every movement was so precise it seemed calculated.
Their repertoire consists of only one act—the end of the Eldar.
In the scene, clowns use dance to depict a future scenario: a brand new being is born from the subspace, opening its gigantic maw to devour everything.
The Eldar cities are collapsing, the gods are falling, and the souls are wailing.
Some of the Eldar were terrified by the performance and began preparing to flee.
But many Eldar simply treated it as a wonderful entertainment, cheering, applauding, and then continuing their indulgence.
In the scene, the clowns' performance continues, but the Elven race below the stage are already drunk and unconscious. Some are laughing, some are crying, and some are frantically tearing their clothes.
Nobody is really paying attention.
The image on the sky suddenly zoomed out.
Deep in the subspace, the sleeping thing finally opened its eyes.
Its name is Slaanesh—the god of pleasure and lust, the fourth evil god of chaos.
It is the youngest Chaos God, yet also the most terrifying one ever created.
On the day of its birth, it devoured an entire galactic superpower civilization and an entire pantheon.
It is formed from the desires and madness of the Eldar over millions of years; it is a distorted mirror image of the Eldar's collective soul.
In the scene, Slaanesh's figure slowly emerges.
His beauty surpasses imagination, and so does his ugliness. Half of him is a perfect body, and the other half is a rotting corpse.
The laughter was like heavenly music, yet also like the wailing of hell.
The Eldar call him the Dark Prince, the Empire calls him the Thirsty Lady.
He has no fixed gender, because desire itself is neither male nor female.
In His realm, joy and pain are one thing, beauty and ugliness are one thing, and life and death are one thing.
At the moment Slaanesh was born—the Eldar Empire collapsed.
The screen suddenly shattered.
An energy wave powerful enough to tear apart galaxies erupted from subspace, engulfing everything in its path.
The Eldar's homeworld shattered like a bubble; the floating cities turned to dust in an instant, and countless souls were sucked into the Warp, becoming food for the Slaanesh.
Over 90% of the Elven race perished at this moment.
Their souls were devoured by Slaanesh, leaving them no chance of reincarnation.
Their gods were also hunted down one by one by Slaanesh.
The scene flashes to the moment when the Eldar gods fell.
Kane, the God of War, shattered into countless fragments that scattered across the galaxy.
Vaal, the god of craftsmen, had already perished in the war of the Old Gods.
The Eldar pantheon was almost entirely wiped out, leaving only the Laughing God Sylgo and fragments of Kane.
The Eye of Fear cracks open amidst the ruins of the Eldar Empire.
The celestial backdrop zooms out, showcasing the entire Milky Way galaxy.
In the northeast of the Milky Way, a massive rift is slowly rotating, like an open eye.
That's the region where reality and the warp overlap, where the laws of physics break down and demons roam freely.
It is the scar of the Eldar's fall, and the cradle of Slaanesh.
Since then, the Eye of Fear has become the most terrifying place in the galaxy.
The scene on the screen slowly darkened, and when it lit up again, the once glorious Spirit Clan Empire was no more.
Survivors scattered throughout the galaxy formed new groups.
[The Ark Eldar - Survivors who escaped from the giant Ark world]
In the scene, the enormous Ark world slowly sails through the sea of stars, like a moving city.
Its surface is covered with spirit bone armor, and its interior contains a complete ecosystem and social structure.
They established the strict "Way of Eldar," which involves specializing in a particular path to avoid being consumed by a single emotion and to prevent the soul from being attracted by Slaanesh.
They used soul stones to protect the souls of the dead from being devoured by Slaanesh.
The most powerful prophet among them could foresee the future and guide the ark's course.
In the scene, the great prophet Eldrad of the Usvi Ark world stands on a high platform, his gaze piercing through time and space, gazing upon countless possibilities.
【The Dark Eldar – The Fallen Ones Hiding Deep Within the Web】
The scene shifts, and a massive, breathtaking underground city comes into view.
There was no sunlight or nature, only endless darkness and eerie lights.
Comoros, a dark city deep within the internet.
They rejected the constraints of the Eldar's ways, refused any form of self-restraint, and instead nourished their increasingly parched souls by tormenting others, using pain and screams to resist the devouring by Slaanesh.
The Bloodwalkers of the Dark Eldar were busy at the dissection table, transforming living slaves into twisted monsters.
In the arena, the dancers of the Witch Spirit Cult compose a ballet of slaughter with blood.
They are the most ruthless predators in the galaxy, and also the most pathetic prisoners—trapped in the darkness they created, forever unable to escape.
【The Savage Spirit Race – A Primitive Faction Fleeting to the Edge World】
In a pristine, untouched world, the Eldar ride enormous dinosaurs through the jungle.
They wore primitive clothing and hunted with spears and bows.
They gave up high technology and bustling cities, choosing instead the most primitive way of life.
They used slash-and-burn agriculture to combat their desires and physical labor to restrain their indulgences.
They restrained their desires through primitive living, yet they still could not escape the fate of their souls being coveted by Lust.
The Clown Troupe – Followers of the God of Laughter, Guardians of the Spirit Race's History
The clowns reappear.
Their dance moves were still beautiful, but this time, there was no one in the audience.
They worship the laughing god Silego, one of the few Eldar deities who were not consumed by Slaanesh.
They toured the galaxy, using dance to record the history of the Eldar and drama to foretell their future.
They are the most mysterious beings among the Eldar; no one knows their true purpose.
The final switch of the celestial backdrop.
Slaanesh reappeared, laughing. That laughter pierced through the Warp, through reality, and through the dreams of every Eldar.
The Eldar created the Slaanesh, and the Slaanesh destroyed the Eldar.
This is the Eldar's eternal curse, their eternal sin.
[Whenever one of their kin dies, their soul falls into the hands of Slaanesh, where they will suffer eternal torment.]
Every act of indulgence they commit is feeding the demons that will destroy them.
Every day they live is a day of atonement for their sins against death.
The prophets of the Ark knelt before the Soulstone in prayer.
The Dark Eldar trembled in the shadows of Comoros.
The barbaric spirit race gazed at the starry sky.
The clowns danced on an empty stage.
They are all waiting.
Legend has it that the Laughing God, Sirega, is plotting the "ultimate joke"—when it comes true, Slaanesh will no longer be the destroyer of Eldar, but will become their guardian.
Some say that the army of death is traversing the galaxy, reaping countless souls, in an attempt to awaken Jena, the god of death, to fight against endless desire with the final death.
But no one knows which prophecy will come true.
The image freezes on Slaanesh's smiling face.
That smile contained joy, pain, love, and hate.
That was everything the Eldar once possessed.
