The first elder took something that looked like a black coloured wooden token with assassin sect symbol on it which was two cross daggers.

'Finally, the first elder is bringing his plan into the action,'

'Once he becomes the sect leader, he said he will make our salaries double along with a peak level artifact or weapon to each one of us,'

'Even though he promised those things, I only support him because he is the most cunning one in the entire Zrocehster province. So, it's better to support him; instead of standing against him.'

'Let's see what Sect leader Gerg will do,'

As soon as they saw the black coloured wooden token in the first elder's hands, all the elders started muttering with each other.

Some of them supported the first elder whole-heartedly, some supported because of the rewards while others supported him because of fear.

"Sect leader challenge token"

As for the sect leader Gerg, he shook his head as he muttered the name of the token before continuing, "So, you want to challenge me? With your strength? Haha."

After shaking his head at the first elder for a moment, the sect leader Gerg started laughing uncontrollably making the first elder and others frown.

'Huh? Why is he laughing? Did he think I didn't have sufficient trump cards to defeat him in the duel?'

The first elder felt something was wrong with the sect leader Gerg's laugh.

Although it was a fact that the first elder was weaker than the sect leader Gerg, the first elder had fully prepared for this day. So, he was confident in defeating the sect leader Gerg and becoming the new sect leader of the Assassin sect.

"You can laugh all you want, sect leader Gerg. Once the duel starts you will see what will happen to you," the first elder scoffed at the sect leader Gerg as he dropped a single drop of his blood onto the black coloured wooden token in his hands.

"I, the first elder of the assassin sect wants to challenge the current sect leader Gerg as I find he was incompetent in managing the sect. I summon all the guardians of the sect here to overseer the duel between us,"

As soon as he dropped his blood onto the wooden token, the first elder started shouting in a loud voice calling some guardians.

"Not bad, not bad"

Hearing the first elder's words, the sect leader Gerg nodded his head with a slight smile on his face.

"Once the duel starts, you will know how good I am,"

The first elder replied with a scoff on his face and waited for the so-called guardians to come.

"Swoosh" "Swoosh"

They didn't wait much time before a five silhouettes came from the outside and landed on the long table in the center of the main hall.

"Five Guardians"

As soon as they saw who those five silhouettes belonged to, everyone in the main hall bowed and greeted the five masked old men in black robes.

"We don't have much time. Start the duel now,"

All the five old men nodded their heads at the people in the main hall before looking at the first elder and the sect leader Gerg and asked them to start the duel.

"Yes, guardians," the first elder nodded his head and looked at the sect leader Gerg because asking, "Are you ready, sect leader Gerg?"

Actually, it was a tradition in the assassin sect that if the first elder, the second powerful person after the sect leader, was dissatisfied with the sect leader, then he could challenge that sect leader to a duel.

In the duel, if he wins then the first elder would become the sect leader whereas the previous sect leader would join the guardians and he would not be involved in the sect's internal matters anymore.

All he had to do was secluded himself in a cave and whenever the sect was in danger, he had to protect it along with the other guardians.

"Haha...I give up,"

However, unexpected to everyone's expectations, the sect leader Gerg raised his hands and gave up.

"What are you doing, Sect leader Gerg?"

All the five guardians asked him at the same time as though they were machines.

"Since our first elders want to manage the sect, then so be it. Anyway, the assassin sect will not last for much longer without the support of the headquarters,"

The sect leader Gerg pulled back his chair and lazily sat in it while looking at the five old men on the table.

"What?"

"The headquarters stopped communicating with us?"

"This is bad."

"And you, the first elder, want to have an internal conflict at a time like this? Shame on you,"

At first, they were shocked to learn the fact that the assassin sect had lost contact with the headquarter and when they looked at the first elder, they were disgusted at him.

Because, just like the sect leader Gerg said, it was a tough time for them to survive without the support of the headquarters and the first elder was trying to rebel when the current sect leader had many tensions regarding the sect.

"The duel will not be valid any longer,"

Soon, the five guardians knew that the sect leader Gerg was the only one who could manage the sect well at times like these and the new sect leader like the first elder would be a bad choice. So, they didn't hesitate to cancel the duel.

"What? How can you do this? I have the sect leader challenge token with me,"

The first elder became anxious and angry at the same time and hurriedly took out the black-coloured wooden token.

'Snap'

"We are yet to finish talking. Stay silent,"

One of the old men snapped his fingers and the first elder became silent and another old man started speaking, "As for the first elder, he will be sentenced to the 'Exiled cave' under our assassin sect."

While the old man was talking, the entire hall was very silent which made the old man's words resounded in the main hall.
