Martin Variety in American Comics

“I came to Blue Valley to investigate a mysterious underground organization.”
Martin wasn't sure if Parker knew about Apokolips, but he didn't explain. Instead, he took out a photo: "Last night, we investigated a convoy in Central City and found this photo from the leader of the convoy. We've confirmed that the person in the photo is a student from Blue Valley."
Parker took the photo, scanned the image into the computer, ran some data, and found some information about Artemis and her family from public websites.
"This is the person. According to the data, her father, Lawrence Crock, her mother, Paula Brooks, and Artemis, who is a popular figure at school, all seem to be fine!"
Although Parker left the Justice Society twenty years ago and is now over forty, his mind is still sharp, probably because he is used to making various tools, which keeps him sharp even in daily life.
"That's the biggest problem. Since they appeared in Central City, they must be hiding secrets. But we can't find any clues, which makes them even more suspicious."
"That's a correct deduction."
Martin gave Parker a thumbs up, praising him for being as sharp as ever.
"But I need you to confirm the identities of these two people and guarantee that they have no connection with the Injustice Society."
"I'm sorry, I can't give you such a guarantee. The Injustice Society was formed during World War II and has a strong counter-intelligence awareness and ability, often operating internationally. The Justice Society has repeatedly thwarted their conspiracies, but has failed to discover their true identities."
Martin guessed that the military must also be involved.
Because the Justice Society and the military are too deeply involved, it is well known, so they have to bear some responsibility for protecting the American mainland.
The members of the association are also willing to do such things. Unlike the Justice League, those born around World War II do not have a strong sense of "freedom".
Changing the world is a characteristic given to this generation, encouraging them to actively participate in various social activities, rather than the current young people, who talk more than they act.
Although he knew this, Martin didn't say it directly, after all, that was the past.
The Justice Society is gone, so their relationship with the military doesn't matter anymore.
"If you're willing, I'd like to ask you to investigate suspicious people or things in Blue Valley."
After Martin made this request, Parker was a little tempted, but then became embarrassed.
"I understand, you have a family, and an investigation could put them in danger. I'll have someone take them away to ensure their safety."
"Okay, but we need a good reason."
Parker agreed to Martin's request without hesitation.
He knew very well that in a highly communal place like Blue Valley, Martin's news couldn't be kept secret. Those hiding in the sunlight of Blue Valley wouldn't believe that a former Justice Society member would stand idly by in the face of evil.
Of course, Parker didn't intend to stand idly by. Therefore, it was best if the Justice League was willing to protect his family.
His past connections in the military were almost gone, and he wasn't sure about the military's attitude towards superheroes.
"What we're doing isn't anything that can't be seen, so why not just tell them everything."
Martin's suggestion was perfectly reasonable, but for Parker, it meant taking on everything from twenty years ago and becoming "Stripes" who supports all superheroes again.
"Although I'm excited, I have to admit that I'm old and can still fight those people."
"You're a support staff, you don't need to go to the battlefield!"
Martin said with a smile: "If you can't react for a while, then I'll come forward. As an outsider, I can be more direct, and it doesn't matter if I'm the bad guy."
He remembered that Parker and his wife were a blended family, and such family conflicts were always more intense.
"No need, I'll do it myself!"
Parker felt as if he had been seen through by the young man in front of him, and the problems in his heart seemed to not exist in front of him.
He was no stranger to this feeling. Those leaders were like this, no matter how gentle their personal character was, they would always put pressure on those around them.
Parker took a deep breath and stood up. He wasn't as excited as he said he was.
He had been waiting for this day, and all the decisions had been made when he received the news from the Justice League.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have let Martin in at all.
So, the two of them walked out of the basement, and Parker didn't hide the workshop.
"You haven't left yet, that's great!"
Parker called out to his family who were about to leave, and subconsciously glanced at Martin.
Martin spread his hands, stepped back to the living room, picked up Parker's computer, and began to collect public information about Blue Valley, especially those on dating platforms or short video platforms.
Parker's wife, Barbara, looked at her husband curiously. Parker and his ex-wife's son, Mike, waited obediently. Barbara and her ex-husband's daughter, Courtney, didn't respond and just flipped through her phone.
Martin's time was precious, so Parker didn't hesitate and told his past and present in a simple and easy-to-understand way.
Barbara was a little angry, not expecting her husband to hide such an important thing.
The younger son, Mike, shone with admiration, not expecting his father to be a superhero.
Courtney, who had never seen her biological father, was unwilling to accept this stepfather. Her first reaction was suspicion, suspecting that Parker was deliberately fabricating such a lie to get them out of the way.
Courtney's reaction was normal. No one was willing to believe that a silent person around them had a glorious past.
Until reality was undeniable, they would turn from questioning to anger and frustration.
Parker didn't waste any words, but led his family into the basement to show them the few remaining things from the Justice Society.
After they entered the basement, Martin put down the tablet and walked to the entrance of the basement.
When he was waking up the Green Lantern's lamp, he sensed other energy reactions in the Justice Society's relics.
Although he didn't know what it was, he prepared for any accidents that might happen at any time to keep it a secret.
Buzz!
Martin had just walked to the entrance of the basement when a piercing buzzing sound came from below, which was a characteristic of energy running at high speed.
"This is much faster than I expected!"
A golden light rushed out of the basement, very dazzling, and it seemed to be dragging something behind it.
"Hide, I can't control myself!"
The girl's voice sounded, and then she saw Parker's stepdaughter dragging behind the golden light.
The golden light was a golden scepter, emitting dazzling light and energy.
"Why are there always so many strange things in this world!"
Martin muttered in a low voice, raised his right hand, and green light bloomed from his palm. The energy of will spread out, forming a thin film covering the inside.
Alan Scott's lamp automatically flew into his right hand, and the Green Lantern energy he could mobilize suddenly increased.
Then, he stretched out his right hand and directly grasped the golden scepter. The Green Lantern energy materialized into threads according to his will, crisscrossing.
The golden scepter was grasped by a stranger, and it continued to release energy outward in response, and the sound and frequency were changing, as if to express some kind of information.
But Martin didn't listen. He tightened the threads of Green Lantern energy and directly blocked the scepter, cutting off the scepter's opportunity to release energy outward.
Then, he grabbed the top of the scepter, gently pulled it, and snatched the scepter away, using the tail of the scepter to prop up the little girl named "Courtney" and put her smoothly on the floor.
"Thank God, Martin, you reacted quickly enough, otherwise there would have been a big mess!"
Parker rushed out of the basement in three steps and took two steps. He was relieved when he saw Martin.
"So what happened below?"
Martin handed the scepter locked by Green Lantern energy to Parker and asked casually.
"This is Starman's Cosmic Staff, which can give the chosen one almost superhuman abilities. Since Starman and the others disappeared twenty years ago, this scepter has not responded. I didn't expect Courtney to be able to wake it up."
Parker held the scepter, his face was complicated, and in the end he didn't know what to say, just sighed silently.
"I see, that's quite a coincidence!"
"How can you react so calmly? This is Starman's scepter!"
The Justice Society is not unknown in Blue Valley. There have always been various news circulating. Martin only discovered this phenomenon just now.
As for the little girl's reaction, he replied with a smile: "I'm a member of the Justice League, do you think I haven't seen this kind of thing?"
Starman's Cosmic Staff is indeed good, but it's not worth making him surprised.
"So have you made a decision as a family?"
Martin turned around and threw the Cosmic Staff to the back of his mind and asked Parker's decision.
"They will leave. Blue Valley is too dangerous for them. They must go to a safe place."
Parker made the decision directly. If there hadn't been the accident with the Cosmic Staff, they would have reached an agreement now.
"Why do we have to leave here? What's dangerous about this place? Can't you explain it clearly?"
Courtney jumped out impatiently. The Cosmic Staff seemed to give her more confidence and courage.
But Martin didn't look at the child at all, and just said faintly: "Adults are talking, children are not qualified to interrupt! You just have to wait obediently on the side."
"I'm the girl recognized by the Cosmic Staff, why do you say I'm not qualified?"
Courtney was very unconvinced.
Martin continued to ignore her: "So what, you can't control yourself at all. You don't even have the ability to make a move in my hands. Maybe you will quickly become an adult after training, but that's something for the future, not now."
While they were talking, Barbara and Mike also came out of the basement.
Martin removed the Green Lantern energy lock, a purple light flashed, and a square fell out, which was the Mother Box sent by the League through Rachel's magic.
"You should go."
He grabbed the Mother Box, turned to the three women and said: "Parker and I still have work to do, let's end your family conflicts for now!"
Martin intervened in Parker's family as an outsider, forcibly interrupted their discussion, and opened a boom tube to Central City.
The Justice League's new base is safer, but it is not suitable for this family.
Parker hugged his family one by one. Courtney refused this kind of intimate activity, looked at the Cosmic Staff reluctantly, and walked into the boom tube with her family.
"Oh, young children, they always don't know what's important."
Courtney left, and the Cosmic Staff no longer had any energy response.
Parker put the scepter back in the basement, and Martin didn't touch the Green Lantern energy on the scepter.
"By the way, can I borrow this lamp for a day?"
Martin raised the lamp in his hand and made a request to Parker. This is not his thing, he can't take it and leave like a robber.
"Of course, these things are just decorations if they stay here with me. It's what they should do if they can play a role."
Parker looked at the workshop he built with his own hands reluctantly: "Once the secrets of Blue Valley are revealed, these things can no longer stay here. I hope the Justice League can keep them for safekeeping and ensure that they don't fall into the hands of bad guys."
"If you are willing to give them up, the League will of course be willing to take these things. This is a symbol of heroes!"
Many people in the League are related to the Justice Society, and these things are considered spiritual inheritance.
"Where are you going to start?"
Parker took a deep breath, pulled himself out of his memories, and asked Martin seriously.
"What happened last night must have reached the ears of some people. At this time, I came to your house, and your wife and children have mysteriously disappeared."
"When these news are combined, I believe someone will come to us soon!"
Martin didn't plan to actively search for anything, because Blue Valley is very big, even for superhumans.
It would take him a lot of time to search this city alone, maybe several days would not be enough.
"To ensure that these people can jump out, I will go to school and directly look for the Crocks' daughter."
Martin felt that Parker's family's material was not strong enough, so he decided to add another one.
"I don't need to worry about my safety, so what about you? Do you need me to build a new house for you with Green Lantern energy?"
Parker looked at the lamp Martin raised and shook his head directly: "I'm not someone who is helpless."
Saying that, he opened the place where the basement and the garage were linked, an old-fashioned car came down, and then transformed into a robot several meters high.
"With this thing, I will definitely not hold you back!"
Parker stood next to his robot and proudly straightened his chest.
This world is indeed full of talents. One person can actually hand-crank a robot in the garage. This is more outrageous than hand-cranking a nuclear reactor.
Martin gave him a thumbs up and then sent a piece of program: "If you need it, this program can help you connect to Star Labs' super artificial intelligence."
"It's really timely help, I've never had the opportunity to get involved in artificial intelligence."
