Courtyard House: My Time Travel is a Bit Too Strong
Chapter 335 This wild boar is my wedding gift to Yuzhu.
The people in the compound were used to it—it was only natural for someone who could lift a wild boar with one hand and split a pig bone with a machete to keep some meat at home.
That morning, He Yuzhu stepped into the courtyard with a brisk pace.
"Yuzhu, is something the matter?" Lin Quan greeted him with a smile.
"Ah Quan, Xiao'e and I are planning to get married. Could you spare some meat? I'll pay the market price." He Yuzhu rubbed his hands together.
"When is the wedding?" Lin Quan didn't answer the question, but asked about the date first.
"The day after tomorrow," He Yuzhu answered crisply.
"Okay, I'll give you a wild boar." Lin Quan slapped his thigh and readily agreed.
For the past month or so, He Yuzhu has been taking care of all the chores around the stove at his house.
Although Qin Jingru could handle a spatula, she was far inferior to He Yuzhu in terms of skill, steady hands, and meticulous attention to detail.
Lin Quan transports fresh mountain produce from Tanxiang Township every day, while He Yuzhu stir-fries it. The two work together seamlessly, one supplying and the other cooking.
Sometimes he would invite an elderly man or woman to join in the fun, and sometimes he would invite a deaf old lady and Lou Xiao'e to eat together around the table.
With each tentative step and each attempt to get closer, Lin Quan was just one step away from winning Qin Huairu's heart.
Qin Jingru had long sensed something was amiss, but she pretended not to see it each time, not even glancing at it.
The next morning, Lin Quan carried a few dried goods, got on his tricycle, and headed straight for Qin Family Village.
As soon as I entered the village, the villagers greeted me with smiles.
Some call him "Uncle Quan," showing respect; some call him "Brother Quan," showing affection; and the younger generation calls him "Ah Quan" in a crisp voice, showing familiarity.
"Why didn't Jingru come along?" Qin Shijie asked, rubbing his hands together.
"She's on shift at the factory today..." Lin Quan replied with a smile.
"Watch your step when you go up the mountain, the path is slippery," Qin Shijie reminded him.
"Okay." Lin Quan nodded, picked up his machete, and headed into the mountains.
With his current skills, he could easily kill a ferocious beast with his bare hands.
I carried a machete simply to avoid attracting attention and getting questioned.
Seeing that no one was around, he flashed away like a gust of wind through the forest, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
More than an hour later, he encountered a group of wild boars in the hillside.
A powerful punch shattered the skull of the lead boar, and a sweeping kick broke the spine of another robust sow.
He carried two wild boars, each weighing over 300 pounds, on one shoulder and dragged them down the mountain.
After everyone in Qinjiacun had a hot meal of stewed meat rice together, Lin Quan left one end behind, got on his tricycle, and drove off with the other end on his back.
The money saved from selling gold bars was enough to build a new house, and there was still a lot left over.
With plenty of money in his pocket right now, he has never even considered slaughtering pigs to sell meat or fishing with nets to make money.
Before 2 p.m., Lin Quan had already returned to the courtyard house.
He parked the tricycle at the door, picked up the wild boar, and strode towards the He family's house.
"Brother Quan, your arm strength is terrifying! You're carrying a guy weighing three or four hundred pounds like it's a sack!" Liu Guangtian exclaimed inwardly.
"Brother Quan doesn't have that kind of strength, yet he managed to capture a wild boar alive?" Liu Guangfu asked with admiration.
"Brother Quan, need a hand?" Yan Jiecheng hurriedly stepped forward.
"Guangtian, Guangfu, Jiecheng, stop fussing—this wild boar is my wedding gift for Yuzhu," Lin Quan said calmly.
"Brother Quan, when I get married, will you give me one too?" Liu Guangtian asked with a grin.
"Yuzhu cooks for me every day, but what have you ever cooked for me?" Lin Quan raised an eyebrow and asked.
"I...I can cook for you too!" Liu Guangtian scratched his head.
"You? Your skills can't compare to Yuzhu's?" Lin Quan scoffed.
"Shazhu is just a cook!" Liu Guangtian said nonchalantly.
Before he could finish speaking, He Yuzhu opened the door and came out. His eyes lit up immediately when he saw the enormous object: "Wow, it's huge!"
"Yours," Lin Quan said calmly.
He took out a cigarette, lit it, leaned against the door frame, and puffed away, watching He Yuzhu and his apprentice Ma Huali cleanly disembowel the victim.
My master is having a happy occasion tomorrow, so MCA took two days off and came over early this morning to offer his birthday wishes.
In the entire courtyard, only Xu Damao had a livid face and was restless, while everyone else was all smiles.
He Yuzhu marrying Lou Xiao'e was a win-win situation for the neighborhood, as they could both enjoy the spectacle and feast to their hearts' content.
The gift is only two yuan, enough to feed and drink the whole family. It's much better than paying for meat yourself.
"Yuzhu, tonight we'll have a plate of pickled pork liver, a cold dish of pork heart and tongue, and some braised pork intestines. Let's have a couple of drinks together," Lin Quan said.
"Okay." He Yuzhu nodded readily.
"You guys are busy, I'll go back to my room first." Lin Quan waved his hand, turned around and went inside.
"Master, who was that just now?" Ma Hua asked in a low voice.
"My brother is Lin Quan, you'll call him Uncle-Master from now on," He Yuzhu answered readily.
"Okay, sure!" MCA immediately agreed.
"Calling him 'Uncle-Master' won't hurt you," He Yuzhu said with a smile, patting his apprentice on the shoulder.
Lin Quan went back to his room, locked the door, and then slipped into Earth's space.
"Learn a few foreign languages; you'll need them in the future."
In his previous life, after obtaining a treasure bowl, he had to master seven languages in order to conduct business overseas.
However, I was in a rush to learn back then, and I only practiced until I could understand and speak fluently, but my reading and writing skills were still lacking.
He walked straight into a library and picked up seven foreign language dictionaries.
Back at his self-built house, Lin Quan intently read through the dictionary page by page.
"It's imprinted in my brain after just one glance? I can actually memorize things after reading them once?"
Realizing he possessed extraordinary memory abilities, Lin Quan felt a surge of excitement, and his eyebrows lifted.
Half an hour later, Qin Jingru pushed open the door and came in, just as she was about to leave work.
About ten minutes later, He Yushui tiptoed over and knocked on the door, calling them to start their meal.
He Yuzhu set up two large tables: Lin Quan's family of two, Qin Huairu's family of five, He's two elders, and Ma Hua sat at a separate table; plus three uncles and three aunts from the courtyard, as well as Lou Xiao'e and the deaf old lady, filling the entire courtyard.
"Cheer slowly, don't choke!" Qin Jingru picked up a piece of meat and handed it to him.
"Auntie, the meat Uncle Sha cooked smells so good it's practically wafting into my nose!" Jia Geng's cheeks were bulging, and he hadn't even finished speaking.
Thirteen-year-old Jia Geng already considered himself an adult and always called He Yuzhu "Silly Uncle".
"Uncle" is a respectful title, and the seniority is there—others call him "Silly Zhu," but he calls him "Silly Uncle," which is perfectly natural in his eyes.
"Jia Geng, you should call him Uncle He. The word 'stupid' is barbed; no one feels comfortable hearing it. Would you be happy if someone called you 'Stupid Geng'?" Lin Quan's tone was calm, but it left no room for negotiation.
"Oh... Uncle-in-law," Jia Geng replied reluctantly, his eyelids drooping.
"It's alright, I'm used to it." He Yuzhu waved his hand and smiled frankly.
"Uncle He, that's what I'll call you from now on." Jia Geng paused, then suddenly straightened his back and added.
"Good!" He Yuzhu laughed heartily. He knew in his heart that this child wasn't bad at heart—when he stole Xu Damao's chickens before, he was either starving or craving them so much he couldn't speak properly. What child hasn't done a few outrageous things?
Now that life is more comfortable and the family has no shortage of rice, flour, oil, and salt, naturally no one goes to climb over the wall to steal chickens anymore.
