Chapter 51 Card Making: The Sentimental Lin Daiyu

Gu Ye's gaze inadvertently swept over the [Human Head Evil Willow] card-making material on the coffee table, and a sudden inspiration flashed in his mind.

The willow tree, known in ancient times as the "ghost-fearing tree," had a custom dating back to the Wei and Jin dynasties of planting willows at doorways during the first month of the lunar calendar to ward off evil spirits. This plant is believed to possess a natural and special power to subdue strange and monstrous creatures.

It can both drive away evil spirits and ward off evil, and also attract evil spirits and gather malevolent forces.

"Perhaps I can use it as the main material to create a card specifically designed to counter the unpredictable types!"

Gu Ye's eyes lit up as he began searching his memory for people or weapons related to "Liu".

In mythology, Guanyin Bodhisattva has a willow branch inserted in her jade bottle. However, the jade bottle is a primordial spiritual treasure. Even if he were to dismantle and sell himself, he could not refine even a fraction of it with his current strength.

Just as he was racking his brains, a reference to his past life suddenly popped into his head and instantly sparked his inspiration.

Just as Xiang Yu lifted a tripod in ancient times, Daiyu pulled up a willow branch in modern times.

In that tired trope, Lin Daiyu possesses immense strength, capable of uprooting a willow tree, yet she is also deeply sentimental. Therefore, Gu Ye plans to create a card based on this, using Lu Zhishen from "Water Margin" and Lin Daiyu from "Dream of the Red Chamber" as the world background, with Lu Zhishen being both a Buddha and a demon.

Even Buddhas can deliver the undead. In mythology, there is a saying that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva vows not to become a Buddha until hell is emptied. Now, I, Gu Ye, am performing a physical ritual to liberate them, hoping they can be reborn in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss as soon as possible.

"One [Human Head Evil Willow] is not enough; we need more materials." Gu Ye bent down and carefully selected from a pile of card-making materials.

Four card-making materials were ultimately chosen, and all of these materials possess the [Strange] attribute.

Using "literary soul" to refer to "talented woman";

The Bodhi grass represents the Buddha.

The Xiangfei bamboo flute is used to symbolize melancholy and the tears shed over burying flowers.

The "mysterious" attribute corresponds to Lin Daiyu's status and position, signifying the descent of a demonic star.

The 【Human Head Evil Willow】suppresses evil spirits, transforming them into a sharp weapon in its hand to suppress all enemies in the world.

Card sequence: [Literary Soul] + [Bodhi Grass] + [Xiangfei Bamboo Flute] + [Human Head Evil Willow] = Lin Daiyu.

With all materials and the sequence complete, card production has begun.

Gu Yemo's famous poem praising Lin Daiyu:

Slender and graceful, her eyes shimmered like autumn water, her eyebrows delicate as if painted with smoke. Her shoulders were like those of a sculpted figure, untouched by the dust and grime of the mundane world; her voice was soft and gentle, carrying a melancholy air of a cold moon burying flowers. Her heart was as delicate as silk, like a willow swaying in the breeze leaning against a railing; her bones were as supple as jade, like a peony shrouded in mist standing before a courtyard.

Yet, his nature is fierce, and his strength is boundless. He once uprooted a willow tree, his might shaking the four directions; he also once punched a tyrant, rescuing people from dire straits. He cannot tolerate injustice, striking down the world's evildoers; his heart is compassionate, protecting the elderly, weak, women, and children. He condemns hypocrisy, acting with true feeling; he harbors the heart of a bodhisattva, yet conceals the methods of a thunderbolt!

After thousands of words, a vivid image of Daiyu has emerged: "frail yet strong, sentimental yet fiercely righteous."

Above the spiritual space, the Heavenly Dao seemed to sense something, and an invisible gaze swept over the card in an instant—the Heavenly Dao's assessment: qualified!

Gu Ye opened his eyes, his consciousness returning to reality, and there was a dazzling card in his palm.

Card: [The Evil Willow of Xiaoxiang Buries the Strange Buddha - Lin Daiyu]

Quality: [Light Blue - 5 stars]

Category: [Warrior/General/Summoning/Doll]

characteristic:

【Demon Bone, Buddha Heart】Lin Daiyu is both a Buddha and a demon, possessing a powerful physical body and a sincere Bodhi heart. She has extremely high resistance and affinity to the 【devil】 and 【Buddha】 attributes.

【The Willow Buries the Ghosts】Lin Daiyu holds an evil willow, shedding a tear to bury the ghosts, annihilating all kinds of strange monsters.

【Poetic Soul Lingers in Dreams】Lin Daiyu's talent is unparalleled, granting allies the "Poetic Soul" buff and adding the Shock and Disaster Relief effect.

skill:

【Three Punches to Suppress Evil】:

Lin Daiyu, who hates evil, unleashed three swift punches in quick succession, which had a stun and critical damage effect on strange enemies.

【Evil Willow Strike】:

Lin Daiyu possessed immense strength. She unleashed the power of her demonic bones, wielding the Evil Willow, ignoring all defenses, and striking directly at the body and soul.

【Tears on Xiangzhu Bamboo】:

The willow branches of the evil willow condense into bamboo-patterned tear crystals, which explode when thrown at the enemy, and the scattered tear crystal fragments corrode the enemy's armor.

【The Burial of the Ghosts: Weeping Blood】:

The Evil Willow Buries the Monster: It digs open the ground and sprouts countless willow branches and vines that entwine all enemies on the field. If the enemy is a monster, it will be buried and killed instantly; otherwise, it will cause the enemy to bleed, adding a bleeding effect that will never stop.

Burying flowers is less desirable than burying ghosts; being sentimental is less desirable than forging ahead.

Gu Ye was very satisfied with the Lin Daiyu card, which added more security to the trip to Tianding Mountain. All that remained was to face the card masters.

Gu Ye sat cross-legged on the bed, concentrating his mind and calming his spirit, and began to refine the pure energy feedback after the successful card creation. A warm current flowed through his limbs and bones, and the barrier that had been stuck at the peak of the seventh level of bronze rank shattered in response.

"Bronze Rank 8!"

Gu Ye felt the surge of spiritual energy within him, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes. He didn't stop, taking out all the accumulated [Spiritual Energy Breath] and stuffing it into his mouth, swallowing it greedily. He wanted to strike while the iron was hot and push his level up even further.

As he consumed the food, his aura gradually grew stronger. Gu Ye vaguely heard the sound of glass shattering, and his level reached 60% of the eighth rank of Bronze.

Gu Ye frowned slightly, looking somewhat regretful. The effect of [Spiritual Energy Breath] was getting weaker and weaker. He needed higher-level rare and precious materials to improve his strength quickly.

Gu Ye opened his eyes, and a familiar light screen appeared before him, from which a stream of light shot out.

He opened it and his vision went black instantly.

"White card?"

......

It seems I really used up all my luck last time I was able to get an Exclusive Domain Card.

"Fine, let's try summoning cards."

Gu Ye didn't want to think about these things anymore. He put away the white card and took out two cards from his spiritual space: [Burning Heart of Wrath - Red Wolf] and [Lin Daiyu - The Evil Buddha of Xiaoxiang].

Two streaks of light flashed, and Red Wolf and Lin Daiyu appeared in the living room at the same time.

Both are 5-star cards with extremely high intelligence.

Upon arriving in this unfamiliar environment, both of them were momentarily stunned, but quickly regained their composure. The instant they were refined into cards, the Heavenly Dao had imprinted the basic understanding of this world into their minds.

"Master?" Red Wolf looked Gu Ye up and down, her tone hesitant. She wore a golden crown and a red robe, holding a frying pan, exuding an aura of nobility.

Lin Daiyu, standing to the side, frowned slightly, her eyes, as clear as autumn water, fixed on Gu Ye. Her voice held a hint of sorrow as she softly called out, "Master Gu..." (This wasn't meant literally!)

"Madam Hong, there's no need for that. Just call me Gu Ye. I'll need your protection from now on."

After chatting for a while, Red Wolf and Lin Daiyu had a basic understanding of Gu Ye and soon turned back into cards.

"Let's continue. Let's finish strengthening all the cards that need to be strengthened today."
