Chapter 137 Mission Accomplished 4K

Brian headed to the Byrne Gang's secret meeting place as usual.

Brian seemed much more relaxed after learning that Rosen had also come to Long Beach.

With Rosen around, Brian is no longer fighting alone.

Today, Brian was about to leave after attending a rally when he was suddenly stopped by Killian Smith, the gang's second-in-command.

"Brian, come here for a second."

"Mr. Smith, is there anything I can help you with?"

"I have something to tell you. Come with me."

Killian led Brian to a room where a refined-looking old man and several fierce-looking young men were sitting.

Brian immediately recognized the refined-looking old man as his target, Adams Byrne.

However, given Brian's current identity, he had never met the other party before, so he immediately showed a confused expression.

As an undercover agent, acting skills are also very important, and undercover acting is not like filming, where someone will yell "cut".

Killian patted Brian on the back.

"Say hello, that's Mr. Byrne!"

Brian quickly bowed his head.

"Mr. Byrne!"

Adams scrutinized Brian closely.

"You're Brian O'Connor?"

"Yes, Boss Byrne."

"I heard you are a second-generation American of Irish descent."

"Yes."

"Are you a very good driver?"

Before Brian could answer, Killian slapped him hard on the shoulder a few times.

"Mr. Byrne, Brian's driving skills are exceptional! Two months ago, he won first place in the race, and by a wide margin!"

Adams pushed up his glasses and looked at Killian.

"Killian, you should know that this job isn't just about driving fast; driving steadily is also very important. You know our inventory is running low."

"Of course! Brian will definitely be fine!"

Upon hearing this, Brian realized why Killian had brought him here.

This is Brian's best chance to infiltrate the inner circle of the Byrne gang!

So Brian couldn't wait to speak.

"Mr. Byrne, whatever the job, I will complete it!"

Adams looked Brian over again and finally nodded.

"Alright, let him participate then. But Killian, to prevent a repeat of what happened before, we must be more prepared."

"Of course! Mr. Byrne, I've already made all the arrangements, so you can rest assured!"

Adams nodded and gestured for Killian to take Brian out.

After leaving the room, Brian asked Killian curiously.

"Mr. Smith, what exactly is your job?"

You'll find out in a moment.

Brian followed Killian into another room, where there were three other young men about his age.

Brian recognized one of them; they were racing together and were among the same group of drivers recruited by the Byrne Gang.

Killian clapped his hands, signaling everyone to look at him.

"Gentlemen, Mr. Byrne has a job for you. The job is very simple: you just need to deliver one thing to a designated location in Las Vegas, and you will easily earn $2."

Nobody would believe that if I told them.

In highly capitalized America, how could there possibly be a job that is simple, easy, and high-paying at the same time?

However, all three people in the room showed expressions of excitement.

That's $2! If this vote goes through, I'll be living comfortably for a while!

One of the stronger men couldn't help but ask.

"Mr. Smith, what do you want us to deliver?"

Killian shook his head.

"Don't ask questions, don't be curious, just answer me whether I'll do it or not."

Having come this far, naturally no one would choose to back down.

Soon, all four of them, including Brian, agreed to Killian's request.

"A very wise choice! Now, hand over your phones, and you can stay in this house tonight. You can start working the next day."

With that, Killian ordered his men to come in and search the four men.

This behavior clearly made all four of them unhappy, but for the sake of the $2, they decided to put up with it.

"Very good! Get some rest tonight, you'll officially start work tomorrow morning."

After saying this, Killian left the room and returned to the room where Adams had been.

"Mr. Byrne, everything is arranged. They will begin delivery tomorrow."

Adams looked at Killian.

"Are you sure everything's okay? Let's avoid any more accidents. We've already failed twice, and our inventory is almost empty!"

"Mr. Byrne, there will absolutely be no problem this time! I've divided the shipment destined for Carl Rost into four parts, and the drivers will take different routes to Las Vegas. That way, even if one driver misses the delivery, at least three others will make it."

The plan sounded acceptable, prompting Adams to nod slightly.

Then Adams recalled his previous failures.

"Killian, what happened with those three previous failures? Is someone targeting us?"

"Mr. Byrne, I have investigated the reasons for the three failed deliveries. The first time was because the police caught us during a stop-and-go inspection, the second time it seems we were involved in a car accident on the road, and the third time it seems the car broke down on the way and we were robbed by other gangs passing by."

Adams closed his eyes and felt a headache coming on.

"It all sounds like a coincidence."

"I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but it's happened three times in a row—"

Killian looked hesitant.

Adams opened his eyes and looked at Killian.

What are your thoughts?

"Just to be on the safe side, I think we should stock up on more goods, otherwise it'll be a real problem if this delivery fails again! Karl Rost's demand is just too high!"

Adams nodded.

"Killian, you're right! But we need to stock up on supplies, and investigate the reasons for the failure. Killian, I'm leaving this to you. Make sure you find out exactly whether someone is targeting us!"

"Yes, Mr. Byrne!"

"You can leave now."

Killian left the room.

Then one of the people in the room suddenly spoke.

"Mr. Byrne, I have a feeling that something is wrong here."

"Yes, Kevin, everyone knows there's something wrong here, but they can't figure it out. What do you think is going on?"

'

Kevin hesitated for several seconds before giving an answer.

"Could there be a mole within the Byrne gang?"

"I really hope that's not the case, but it seems there's a mole within the Byrne gang."

"Mr. Byrne, what should we do?"

"Kevin, go and secretly investigate the situation within the gang."

"Oh? Mr. Byrne, what about your safety if I go to investigate?"

"I'll be fine."

After arranging the work, Adams left the secret hideout with a few guards.

The group got into the same car.

Not far away, the people in a car immediately perked up.

"Billy, look! Adams's out! Billy?"

Mike turned around and saw Billy still in a daze, so he had to give him a nudge.

"Billy, what's wrong with you lately? Why are you always spacing out?"

Billy snapped out of his daze and gave an awkward smile.

"It's nothing, Mike. I'm probably just too tired lately. You know I've had a lot of work to do."

Mike, unsuspecting, patted Billy on the shoulder.

"That's true! Mr. Castro's sudden decision to have us take turns monitoring Adams is indeed tiring. Hopefully, we'll get some results today! I've been so bored these past two days! Billy, how about we find somewhere to have some fun after our shift ends today?"

Billy looked at Mike speechlessly and showed him the cast on his hand and the bandages on his leg.

"Do you think I'm capable of doing this job?"

"Don't be like that, Billy! If you can afford it, those girls can make you feel amazing without you even moving!"

Billy was somewhat tempted; his long undercover career had indeed made him feel somewhat depressed, but he soon thought of two women.

The two women quickly calmed Billy down.

"We'll see! Mike, they've started the car! Hurry up and follow!"

Mike stopped talking about having fun and immediately started the car to catch up with the car in front.

To avoid being seen, Mike's car followed at a great distance, but this also made it easy to lose track of him.

Fortunately, Billy was experienced in tracking, and under his guidance, Mike never lost Adams' car.

"That's strange. Adams' car seems to have circled around here several times already. Has he spotted us?"

Billy observed it for a moment and thought it didn't seem like it.

"It doesn't seem so. They appear to be checking to see if anyone is following them. Mike, keep the distance!"

"Are you going to increase the distance? If you keep it any further, I won't be able to see their car anymore!"

"Listen to me! If you get any closer, they'll find us!"

Mike ultimately trusted Billy's judgment and slowed down to continue moving away from Adams' car.

"Have you spotted the car that's been following us?"

"No, Mr. Byrne."

"Then let's stop the car."

After the car stopped, Adams got out alone.

"Wait for me in the car, I'll be right back."

Then Adams took his cane and went into a small alley.

"Billy, it looks like they've parked!"

"Let's stop too!"

Mike stopped the car and just then saw Adams get out.

"Billy, what do we do now?"

Billy frowned and pondered for a moment.

"I'll get out of the car and go take a look."

"Billy, are you serious?"

"Mike, look at me now, they might ignore me!"

Look at Billy now, with a broken arm and an injured thigh, he certainly doesn't seem like a threat.

However, Mike was still somewhat worried.

"Billy, how about we just forget about it? Let's wait until they leave before we go in to investigate!"

Billy shook his head; he didn't want to waste the opportunity.

"Okay, I'll wait another ten minutes before going in."

Ten minutes later, Billy rubbed his face, trying to look less like a criminal, then got out of the car and limped toward the alley.

Just as Billy had expected, Adams's guards only glanced at him and then paid him no further attention, clearly thinking he posed no threat.

Billy walked casually into the alley, but his back was actually soaked with sweat.

The alley was quite long. After walking for a while, Billy suddenly found himself in a place that resembled a sanatorium.

Billy saw many people with physical or intellectual disabilities moving around in an area cordoned off by barbed wire, and he could see security guards walking towards them in the distance.

"Hey, what do you do?"

A security guard walked over with a rubber baton in his hand.

"Excuse me, I've come to the wrong place."

Billy glanced at the name of the sanatorium, then turned and left. He saw another alley and headed straight for it.

The security guard didn't pay any attention and returned to his post after Billy left.

Billy hadn't actually gone far; he hid behind the trash can and continued to observe.

Because he was ten minutes late, Billy wasn't sure whether Adams had entered the sanatorium he had just seen or left through the alley.

So Billy called Mike and told him to keep an eye on Adams's guards, while he kept an eye on the sanatorium.

About half an hour later, Billy saw Adams come out of the nursing home, and the security guards seemed to treat him with considerable respect.

Adams then returned the way he came, and Billy also received a call from Mike.

"Billy, I saw Adams get in the car and leave!"

"Mike, drive a few hundred meters ahead, then turn right at the first intersection to pick me up!"

For safety's sake, Billy did not return the way he came, as it would be bad if he were seen by the vigilant security guards or Adams's bodyguards.

Mike quickly drove over and picked Billy up.

"Billy, have you found Adams' 'kitchen'?"

The two men's mission was to track Adams down to his personal kitchen, but what Billy saw left him somewhat bewildered.

"I didn't see a kitchen; I only saw a nursing home."

"A sanatorium? How could it be a sanatorium? Did that guy put the kitchen inside the sanatorium?"

Mike was also stunned.

That's a possibility, but Billy felt things weren't so simple.

"I don't know! What about Adams Byrne?"

"They must have already left by car. Why would they wait for me at the intersection?"

"In that case, let's go back to Mr. Castro."

Soon, Billy and Mike drove to Frank's seaside villa.

"You said Adams Byrne went to a sanatorium?"

Frank looked at Billy with a gloomy expression.

"Mr. Castro, I didn't see Adams Byrne go in, I only saw him come out."

Billy was very careful with his words, and Frank nodded in agreement.

"I understand. You and Mike can go back now."

As Billy left the study, he happened to exchange a glance with Eva, who was wearing a see-through white nightgown in the living room. While Mike wasn't looking, Eva made a phone call gesture.

This made Billy's expression turn somewhat unpleasant, but he still nodded.

After Billy and Mike left the villa, Frank also took out his phone and dialed a number.

The early bird catches the worm.

"The late-rising fish get caught. Castro, what's the matter?"

"Courtney, I just want you to help me find a place."

"Castro, what are you up to now?"

"Don't get excited, Courtney! I asked you to check a legitimate place! Do you know a nursing home called Walter White?"

"
