Chapter 131 The Irish Gang 4K

Chapter 131 The Irish Gang 4K

Rosen dozed off on the sofa until eight o'clock in the morning before finally getting up.

Blake and Daisy had left the apartment early because they had to go to work at 8 a.m.

Before leaving, Blake left a note for Rosen, reminding him not to forget the surprise tonight.

After grabbing a quick breakfast near his apartment, Rosen drove to the FBI building.

In the three months that followed, there weren't many changes at the FBI building, except perhaps for Neil's promotion.

Neil was officially promoted from Senior Special Agent to Supervisory Special Agent.

This position can be considered a low-level cadre, and can only be held by senior agents or formal agents.

Theoretically, even a high-ranking agent like Sean Arthur should be under Neil's command, which made Neil quite proud.

"Oh, Rosen! You're back from training? I heard you did quite well."

Compared to Neil, he's definitely much better. Rosen had even asked Peggy about the performance records of several FBI agents he knew.

According to Peggy's investigation, Sean Arthur's grade was an A (excellent), Jane Banner's was a B (good), and Nathan Neal's was a C (pass), which was said to be just a little bit away from a D (fail).

However, Sean and Neil were about the same age and joined the FBI around the same time, but the more capable Sean was overshadowed by Neil.

It can only be said that work ability does not necessarily mean the speed of promotion; choices are often more important.

Neil was in a great mood because he had just been promoted, and he chatted with Rosen for a few minutes before getting down to business.

"Rosen, have you decided which department you want to join?"

"I want to continue being an undercover agent."

This surprised Neil slightly.

"Very few undercover agents want to continue being undercover after they've gone ashore."

"Then maybe they didn't find the fun in being undercover."

Neil stared blankly at Rosen, not understanding what fun there was in being an undercover agent.

Most undercover agents live in constant fear, without a moment of peace, so how could they possibly find enjoyment?

"Alright, since you're determined to continue being an undercover agent, I have a few infiltration directions I'd like to take a look at."

Neil took out several files and handed them to Rosen. These were cases that the FBI was currently investigating, mainly gang-related cases.

These include Mexican gangs, Russian gangs, and Irish gangs.

These three gangs are the three fastest-growing gangs in Los Angeles since the downfall of the Bonanno family, and they have basically divided up the Bonanno family's former territory.

"The defining characteristic of these three gangs is their xenophobia; I think it might take you some time to infiltrate them."

Mexicans and Russians are marginalized in American society, so they are extremely xenophobic and generally do not recruit members of other ethnic groups.

The Irish are slightly better off, but they are more organized and many have political asylum.

At the end of the 19th century, due to famine, a large number of Irish people immigrated to America.

Because these people don't differ much from the traditional Onsa in terms of language, they adapt very quickly.

Many of them went into political activity and became internal staff of the federal government.

The most typical example is John Kennedy, who was of Irish descent.

Therefore, Irish people in the federal government also contributed to Ireland's independence.

After looking around, Rosen felt that the Irish mafia had a better chance.

Since Brian is already infiltrating the Irish mafia, Rosen might be able to use Brian to quickly gain access to Irish circles.

"Then let's go with the Irish. I had dealings with them before when I was with the Bonanno family."

"Are you sure?"

"It's confirmed."

Neil collected the files from the other gangs, keeping only the files from the Irish gang.

"You can take these materials back and look at them at your leisure, but don't lose them, as you'll need to return them later."

Looking at the thick stack of documents on the table, Rosen was speechless. How long would it take to finish reading this?

"There's one more thing. I'll be going to Quantico for training in a few days, so someone else will be in charge of your upline during that time."

"Who is it?"

"I'm not sure about that. Usually, these kinds of things are assigned by the head of the intelligence agency. You can go home and review the case files while waiting for news from the bureau. Once all the formalities are completed, your superior will contact you, and then you can begin your official work."

"Alright, I'll go first."

"Good luck, Rosen."

"I wish you a successful training, Neil."

This time, Rosen and Neil parted ways amicably.

This guy did indeed deceive Rosen and embezzled Rosen's informant fees, but Rosen also cheated him quite a bit.

However, Neil still helped Rosen obtain the very important American citizenship and FBI trainee agent status.

Of course, Rosen also helped Neil get promoted, so the two of them could be said to have gotten what they needed from each other.

After leaving Neil's office, Rosen still had a series of procedures to go through.

When Director Gordon Cole put Rosen's file into the FBI's archives, he was actually simplifying many procedures.

Now all these procedures need to be repeated, but because Rosen is going undercover, these procedures will only be carried out in secret.

He essentially got a Glock 17 for free, which will become Rosen's sidearm.

After finishing all this, just as he was about to leave the FBI building, Rosen unexpectedly bumped into Jane and Sean.

"Rosen, are you leaving?"

"Yes, I just finished taking care of it."

Jane glanced at the pile of documents Rosen was carrying.

"Do you need my help?"

"No need, I can handle it myself."

But Sean took the initiative to come over and help Rosen with the file.

"Rosen, you don't need to be so polite. After all, we'll be colleagues soon."

Rosen raised an eyebrow, assuming that Jane had revealed his secret to Sean.

However, Jane quickly gave Rosen a look, indicating that she hadn't said anything.

This puzzled Rosen.

Fortunately, Sean quickly provided an answer.

"I'm currently handling the Irishman's case. Would you be interested in discussing it with me?"

It seems Sean has received some inside information.

Since that was the case, Rosen did not refuse.

"Come on, let's go to my office. These files aren't really that useful. Neil, you're an idiot for trying to fool you with this stuff!"

While leading the way, Sean didn't forget about Black Neil; their friendship is still as strong as ever.

Upon arriving at Sean's office, the guy immediately tossed aside the files he had just brought in.

"Rosen, I know everything about the Irish. You can ask me directly; that will save you a lot of time."

That's a good thing. Rosen was also a little overwhelmed by the sheer volume of files.

"I want to know about the structure and factions of the Irish mafia."

"A smart question: Americano or black tea?"

"Black tea will do."

"Why do you like the taste of the English? Jane, make me a cup of Americano, and then make Mr. Rosen a cup of black tea."

Rosen is certainly not to the liking of the Japanese, but America probably doesn't have green tea here.

Lawson prefers black tea to the unpleasant taste of Americano.

Jane quickly returned to the office with Americano and black tea, and stood quietly to the side listening to Sean and Rosen discuss the Irish mafia.

"The Irish gangs are different from the Bonanno family I worked with before. They are actually composed of four gangs: the New Irish, the Sharks, the Byrne Gang, and the Castro Gang. These four gangs originated in Long Beach and were formed by early Irish immigrants who settled in Los Angeles."

"They haven't formed a unified gang?"

Sean took a sip of his Americano, his face scrunched up, but his spirits lifted considerably.

Europeans often refer to Americano as "dishwashing water" because it is made by mixing espresso with hot water in a certain ratio.

While increasing the concentration, it also resulted in the loss of coffee's aroma and flavor.

To traditional Europeans, this was the wrong way.

But for working-class people like Sean and fitness enthusiasts, Americano is a life-saving elixir.

"Phew! No, the Irish gangs in Los Angeles have been in chaos for a long time because the Los Angeles underworld is more complex, with all kinds of races, and it's not as simple as the East Coast."

The East Coast, America's original territory, was predominantly inhabited by white people, including Onsa, Irish, Scottish, and a small number of Germans, who all looked quite similar.

But things are much more complicated in Los Angeles.

Mexicans, Blacks, Slavs, Italians —

You can find almost every ethnic group in the world in Los Angeles, so the underworld here is naturally even more chaotic.

"Sean, could you explain in more detail?"

"It's actually quite simple! After a period of infighting among the Irish, only these four gangs remained. The leaders of the four gangs realized that continuing to fight among themselves would only benefit the surrounding black gangs, so they reached an agreement to unite against external threats. As of now, Long Beach is basically controlled by these four Irish gangs."

Sean briefly explained the situation of the Irish mafia, then took out four photos.

The first photo shows a chubby, kind-looking old white man.

"Patrick Greggash, he's the leader of the New Irishmen. Don't let his kind face fool you, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing. His territory is mainly in western Long Beach. He's not very ambitious and is a relatively peaceful guy, but don't underestimate him, he's extremely cunning."

The second photo shows a middle-aged man with a fierce-looking face and a long scar on his face.

"Oscar Kyle, the second-generation leader of the Shark Gang. This guy killed the previous Shark Gang leader last year and became the boss. His territory is mainly in the southern port of Long Beach. He mainly does smuggling business and has a lot of dockworkers under his control."

The third photo shows an older man wearing glasses who looks quite sophisticated.

"Sean, is this guy also a gang leader?"

"Yes! Adams Byrne, don't let his college professor appearance fool you, he's a seasoned drug dealer. He used to be a chemistry teacher, but somehow he ended up manufacturing and selling drugs. Half of the chemicals in Los Angeles come from his hands, making him a prime target for the DEA and FBI!"

DEA stands for America's Drug Enforcement Agency, which is responsible for investigating drug cases.

This department actually overlaps with the FBI in some of its functions, so the two departments often have friction during the investigation process.

Rosen looked at the fourth photo, which showed a gloomy face that looked like it might suddenly bite someone at any moment.

Rosen had seen this face in a photograph before, at Swifar's.

"The most dangerous one is Frank Castro. That guy is insidious, cunning, and ruthless. He's the most notorious of the four Irish gangsters. Arms smuggling, drug trafficking, murdering police officers—there's nothing he wouldn't do!"

Rosen raised an eyebrow. He already knew about Frank's style from Swifa, but he was still somewhat curious.

"Sean, if this guy is so arrogant, how come he's still around?"

Sean sighed.

"Because there's no evidence! This guy is incredibly cunning. Although everyone in Los Angeles knows he's a criminal, no one can find any trace of him. He's very lucky; he always manages to find a way to escape at crucial moments, leaving law enforcement empty-handed."

This is a bit outrageous. It can be explained by being lucky once or twice, but it's problematic if you're always lucky.

Unless Lady Luck is Frank's biological mother.

Rosen instantly thought of a name he was almost forgetting: Vincent Murphy.

This guy was sending undercover agents into the Mafia while simultaneously leaking information to them, leading to the deaths of many undercover police officers.

"Sean, is it possible that a corrupt cop is passing messages to this guy?"

Sean nodded.

"We've considered this issue; the LAPD, FBI, and DEA have all conducted internal investigations, but without any results."

Rosen looked thoughtful.

"Sean, who do you think I should go to?"

"In my opinion, Patrick Grigory is old and he's basically harmless now. He's been behaving himself lately, so there's no need to cause him any trouble."

Sean drew an X on the picture of the fat old man.

"Although Oscar Kyle is ruthless, his territory is actually blocked by three other people, so he is not a threat."

Sean continued to cross out the photos of the scarred middle-aged man.

The rest are quite obvious: Adams Byrne and Frank Castro.

"These two, one a seasoned drug dealer and the other lawless, are the biggest threat to Los Angeles. You can pick either one."

Rosen stroked his chin. Logically speaking, Frank Castro would be the most suitable choice, since Rosen had information on Frank. However, he was a little worried that the other party would recognize him.

Frank had worked with Antonio before, and his men had even invaded Bonanno Manor; it's hard to say he wouldn't remember him.

However, to determine which one to investigate, we'll need to see how Brian is doing now.

"I need to think about it."

"Of course, there's still some time before you officially start working, so you have plenty of time to consider it."

"Sean, could you tell me more about these two people?"

"That's quite a lot! Jane, another Americano, please!"
