Healing Doctor

Chapter 751 Who Dares to Touch My Son!

Chapter 751 Who Dares to Touch My Son!

"I'm going back right now! You must wait for me! You absolutely must!! No one is allowed to touch the child until I get back!!!"

As Zhao Zhe spoke, he stood up in a panic.

He spoke very loudly, completely different from the greasy, long-time attending physician that Ji Xiang knew.

Zhao Zhe didn't even notice the chair fall over; he turned and left without even saying goodbye.

Ji Xiang gave Director Bai and Director Liu a look, grabbed his coat, and followed behind Zhao Zhe.

"Brother Zhao, is there an emergency at home?" Ji Xiang asked as he walked.

"Uh..." Zhao Zhe was too anxious to speak.

Ji Xiang picked up his phone, made a call, explained the address, and patted Zhao Zhe on the shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll find a car to take us back."

Zhao Zhe did not express his gratitude; he was still extremely flustered and didn't know what to do with his hands and feet.

Ji Xiang took out a cigarette from his pocket and offered one to Zhao Zhe. He tried to light it three times, but Zhao Zhe couldn't get it to smoke.

"Brother Zhao, what's wrong?"

"My ex-wife... my ex-wife..." Zhao Zhe stammered, his condition was very poor, and he couldn't even speak a complete sentence.

Ji Xiang didn't urge him, but just patted Zhao Zhe's shoulder forcefully.

This action might seem a bit slick or vulgar, but Ji Xiang doesn't think so.

Zhao Zhe panicked like a child who had done something wrong.

Ji Xiang lit a cigarette and handed it to Zhao Zhe, letting him take a couple of puffs.

Zhao Zhe calmed down slightly. "My ex-wife's younger brother, who is also my ex-brother-in-law's child, has kidney failure and needs a transplant. My ex-wife took my son to get a tissue matching test this weekend while she was looking after her child!"

"..."

Ji Xiang was stunned.

How could there be such a melodramatic and outrageous thing!

"That's my son! Anyone who dares to touch him, I'll kill their whole family!" Zhao Zhe said hoarsely.

He didn't roar, he didn't feel grief or indignation, and his words were devoid of any emotion.

An honest man was pushed to the extreme, and he was almost turned to the dark side. Ji Xiang could even "see" that Zhao Zhe's face was covered with a black veil and his expression was somewhat ferocious.

Ji Xiang had never experienced anything like this before, so he didn't say much, just silently smoked with Zhao Zhe.

Soon, a car pulled up, the driver got out and opened the door, and Ji Xiang shoved Zhao Zhe into the car.

After settling into his seat in the back, Ji Xiang asked Zhao Zhe for the address, and the car headed straight for Yuanliao.

It was late at night, the roads were clear, and the car wasn't speeding. We arrived at Zhao Zhe's parents' house steadily, keeping within the speed limit.

Ji Xiang accompanied him upstairs, where several people were standing in a large group at the entrance.

An elderly man with gray hair blocked the door with his body.

"Zhao Zhe said he'll talk about it when he gets back. I've said it so many times, you guys go back first."

"Xiaomin is my son!" a woman shrieked.

"You're not my guardian. If you keep causing trouble, I'll call the police!" the old man insisted.

"In-law, even though our children are divorced, we're still relatives. Look at my family's situation, we're really in dire straits. Please help us just this once, just this once. You... you can't just stand by and watch us die, can you?" the old man pleaded.

Ji Xiang glanced at it and roughly understood what was happening.

With red eyes, Zhao Zhe strode inside, his frail body pushing aside anyone in his path.

At this point, Zhao Zhe was no longer the kind old ruler; he had revealed his claws and become a fierce monster protecting his own.

"Zhe, you're back." His mother-in-law smiled broadly, made way for Zhao Zhe, and followed behind him. "We've run into some trouble at home, so it's good that you're back. We can talk things over."

"Discuss? Discuss what? What's there to discuss?" Zhao Zhe looked coldly at his mother-in-law.

"The doctor said Xiao Kai eats too many snacks and drinks too much cola. He's diagnosed with diabetic nephropathy and would be best off getting a kidney transplant. Otherwise, his future life will be greatly affected." The mother-in-law, slightly bent over, followed Zhao Zhe into the house.

When Zhao Zhe entered the room and saw that the child was still there, he breathed a sigh of relief and grabbed the child to hug him.

"Don't be afraid, Dad's here."

The son, unaware of what had happened, stared blankly at Zhao Zhe and his mother.

"Don't say anything, just listen to me." After saying this to his son, Zhao Zhe sat down on the sofa with an air of authority and coldly glanced at his ex-wife's family.

Father-in-law, mother-in-law, ex-wife, and brother-in-law sat down.

"Zhao Zhe, the child is sick. As a doctor, you can't just stand by and watch him die," Zhao Zhe's ex-wife said.

"Stop watching him die? Don't try to morally blackmail him. Xiao Kai is sick, and the root cause of his illness is your spoiling him, isn't it? Ten years ago, I told you not to let kids eat junk food and drink cola at every meal, but what did you do?"

"What did you say back then? Can someone tell me?"

Zhao Zhe's former family members felt like strangers to him.

The timid man was gone. At this moment, Zhao Zhe sat on the sofa, like a sharpened knife, its cold light gleaming.

"Zhao Zhe, you can't say that. We're not doctors, and besides, a child's kidney failure isn't necessarily caused by what he eats or drinks. The key issue now is that if Xiao Kai wants to improve his quality of life, a kidney transplant would be the best option."

"He has no parents? I don't believe his parents are incompatible. If they really are incompatible, I still won't agree; it's just bad luck for the child," Zhao Zhe said coldly and firmly.

"You call yourself a doctor? All I ever hear you talk about is saving lives and treating patients, but now that it's your turn, you're chickening out?" the woman said sternly.

"That has nothing to do with it. I can tolerate your usual unreasonable behavior, but when it comes to the child, don't try to morally blackmail me. No way. I won't fall for that!" Zhao Zhe replied calmly.

"Brother-in-law, I've called you brother-in-law my whole life, even though now you and my sister..." The brother-in-law rubbed his hands together, saying with a fawning expression, "In my heart, you will always be my brother-in-law."

"In my heart, you're not my brother-in-law."

"!!!" The man paused for a moment, then smiled broadly again. "You're in the medical field. Doctors say losing one kidney doesn't affect daily life; that's common medical knowledge. My son's health..."

"Common sense? If it's common sense, why don't you use your kidneys?" Zhao Zhe sneered.

"My health isn't good. I was too reckless when I was younger, as you know, brother-in-law. My kidneys are no good now. If I were to give them to my child, he'd only be able to use them for another ten years or so. Just think about it, what about ten years from now?"

"It's alright, I'm a doctor. I can say with certainty that if you donate your kidney to your son, it will last for at least several decades," Zhao Zhe asked. "I can guarantee that."

As Zhao Zhe spoke, he patted his chest, making a loud thumping sound.

Ji Xiang watched as Zhao Zhe, who was usually timid and indifferent, stood up to reason with the child and refused to back down. A slight smile appeared on Ji Xiang's lips.

It seems that Zhao Zhe is just too lazy to argue normally, but when it comes to matters of principle, he can tell right from wrong.
