Healing Doctor

Chapter 581 Turning a Blind Eye

Chapter 581 Turning a Blind Eye

Lu Gang's thinking is wildly imaginative, which Director Fan finds difficult to accept.

After a period of discussion, everyone's minds were blank. Since there was a ready-made plan, we could only tentatively decide to give it a try first.

Director Fan also knew that at this stage of the program, the other junior staff members dared not speak up, as no one could bear the consequences of their opinions causing a drop in ratings.

In other words, nobody wants to take the blame.

The following day, Director Fan met Lin Jiuze.

He was a typical young man, seemingly ordinary, without any arrogance, easy-going, and low-key, completely different from the high-achieving student at Massachusetts General Hospital that Director Fan had imagined.

After exchanging some pleasantries, Director Fan asked, "Dr. Lin, you work at Massachusetts General Hospital..."

Lin Jiu smiled slightly, "General practitioner, after I go back on my leave, I will lead a medical team myself."

Director Fan wasn't quite sure what Lin Jiu meant by leading a medical team, but Lu Gang frowned.

So young and already an expert at Massachusetts General Hospital?

Lin Jiu seemed more mature and professional than he appeared.

Is he bragging?

A thought popped into Lu Gang's mind.

However, Lu Gang quickly forgot about Lin Jiuze and began to think about Massachusetts General Hospital.

"You are an expert in the medical field, a promising young man with a bright future." Director Fan did not hold back his praise, especially after learning about Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital after the meeting.

Compared to other interns, Director Fan used the formal "you" (您) to address Lu Gang, which made Lu Gang extremely uncomfortable.

But this discomfort was only temporary; in the blink of an eye, Lu Gang forgot who Director Fan was talking to.

Director Fan also worked very hard; he had to stare at Lin Jiuze stiffly and forcefully to ensure he didn't act impolitely.

"You're too kind. I'm just an intern on the show," Lin Jiu said with a slight smile.

"We'll start by showing you a short story. First, you'll be seen in the emergency room. See..."

"Okay, I'll do whatever the production team says," Lin Jiu said casually.

"That's good, thank you for your hard work," Director Fan said politely.

The program was on a tight schedule, and a day had already passed. Director Fan didn't say anything more and led the crew and Lin Jiu to the emergency room.

Introducing new doctors is part of the review session, so Director Fan went straight to the point.

Upon arriving at the emergency department, Deputy Director Liang was responsible for receiving us.

As the show became increasingly popular, the First Affiliated Hospital's attitude towards the variety show underwent a subtle change.

Deputy Director Liang led Lin Jiu out of the emergency room and diverted several patients there. These patients were not in a critical condition and had been spoken to and were able to accept the program's filming.

Lin Jiuze has a strong learning ability and quickly became familiar with the computer system.

Gradually, Director Fan finally felt relieved.

Lin Jiu seems more reliable than expected. Even if he can't go head-to-head with Ji Xiang, the appearance of such a promising young man is of great benefit to the production of the show.

As Director Fan was pondering what to do tomorrow, a member of the film crew came up to him and whispered, "Director, it seems there's a problem."

"What's the problem?" Director Fan asked, puzzled.

He followed the whole process, and so far Director Fan hasn't seen any mistakes.

"I just watched the recorded program with Teacher Li, and for some reason, Dr. Lin had very few scenes."

"What?" Director Fan was taken aback.

There were very few shots of Lin Jiuze recorded?

I didn't hear wrong, did I?

The show focuses on the interns, so the camera will definitely give them screen time. While it may occasionally linger on the substitute teachers, it will always pay attention to the performances of the main characters.

Since the start of filming, there have been no mishaps; this is the simplest and most fundamental issue.

What the hell is going on!

Director Fan called the film crew over and briefly reviewed the footage.

Oh shit!

Sure enough, the strangest thing happened! The film crew made a huge mistake.

The camera was focused on Director Liang of the Emergency Department of the First Affiliated Hospital. Even when Lin Jiu appeared in the shot, it was only a fleeting glimpse, giving Director Fan the impression that the cameraman did it on purpose and that Lin Jiu was just an insignificant passerby.

"What are you doing!" Director Fan shouted angrily.

"Director, I...I..." The cameraman didn't know how to explain, so he stammered and couldn't get to the bottom of it.

"With such a tight schedule, and you being the only film crew here, how could you make such a big mistake!" Director Fan sternly stared at the cameraman and roared in a low voice.

"I don't know how it happened, I just forgot about Dr. Lin Jiuze while I was recording."

"Damn it!" Director Fan cursed.

He didn't reprimand the cameraman too much; what could he do now that the die was cast?

"Pay attention from here on out!" Director Fan said sternly.

"Yes, yes, Director, I must have been lacking rest lately, I'm a little out of it," the cameraman quickly said. "Don't worry, if there's another problem, just fire me."

"Director Liang, could you please take a look at this patient?" The nurse led a patient in.

Because of the need for patient triage, some patients chose to appear on the program to see if they could be featured, since their conditions weren't considered serious, and some were simply there to get some medication. However, others chose to come for treatment because of Director Liang's status; a director, after all, is believed to have a higher level of medical expertise than a mediocre doctor.

The patient was a middle-aged man in his forties who came to the emergency department by himself. He walked in with a slightly hunched back and clutching his stomach.

"Please sit down. Are you feeling unwell?" Director Liang asked.

Lin Jiu stood to the side and behind Director Liang, holding several sheets of A4 paper and a ballpoint pen, writing something on the A4 paper.

He was just like an intern, diligently recording everything related to clinical practice.

Lu Gang stood outside the door, his viewpoint allowing him to see Director Liang and Lin Jiuze, and also hear their conversation.

"Doctor, I've had pain around my navel for three days now." The patient handed the X-ray films to Director Liang. "These were done at the community hospital, and they said I have an intestinal obstruction."

The patient's breathing became slightly rapid and labored while speaking.

Lu Gang raised an eyebrow slightly, instinctively feeling that things weren't that simple.

An upright abdominal X-ray shows intestinal dilation with multiple air-fluid levels, a typical manifestation of intestinal obstruction.

"Have you ever had intestinal obstruction before?" Director Liang asked while looking at the scans.

"No, I'm usually very healthy. I've never had a stomachache except for diarrhea."

"Did you eat anything unusual before your stomachache started?"

"No, everything is normal."

Deputy Director Liang looked at the X-ray, and without asking Lin Jiuze beside him, turned around and wrote out a hospital admission notice to admit the patient to the gastrointestinal surgery department.

Director Fan was groaning in dismay.

Why is it that neither the cameraman nor Director Liang seems to see Lin Jiu?
