Healing Doctor

Chapter 428 Taking Advantage of Someone's Kindness

Chapter 428 Taking Advantage of Someone's Kindness (Bonus Chapter x2 for Alliance Leader Foucs)

"It's probably a stomach spasm," Zhai Yuhan said softly.

"Let me see?" Ji Xiang insisted.

The two whispered to each other, while the patient and his family looked at the camera behind them, somewhat bewildered, wondering why there was such a strange thing as a camera behind the doctor in this ward.

"Since you insist, then take a look, and then send the patient back to the emergency department for a 654-2 injection," Zhai Yuhan said to Ji Xiang, slightly impatiently but still patiently.

She still gave Ji Xiang some face, not because of the presence of the film crew, but because Ji Xiang helped solve a long-standing problem for a patient.

Or perhaps it was the nonsensical remarks made by Director Zheng of the MRI lab that had a certain impact on Zhai Yuhan.

Zhai Yuhan couldn't quite understand Ji Xiang. Perhaps this young man wanted to "show off" in front of the film crew.

"Forget it, I won't argue with him," Zhai Yuhan thought magnanimously.

"Let's go to the pharmacy. Dr. Ji Xiang will give you a checkup," Zhai Yuhan said. "It hurt a moment ago, does it not hurt anymore?"

"Yes," the patient replied somewhat embarrassedly.

"Let's take a look."

Upon arriving at the dressing room, Ji Xiang led the patient inside. Zhai Yuhan, feeling uneasy, followed them into the dressing room and blocked the film crew from entering.

When it comes to physical examinations, even just examining the abdomen, the film crew cannot be allowed inside.

This was a matter of principle, and Zhai Yuhan was unyielding. Fortunately, the film crew was aware of this and had no intention of following her in to film. Seeing her blocking the doorway, they simply stood outside and waited.

After closing the door, Zhai Yuhan quietly watched Ji Xiang communicate with the patient and conduct a physical examination.

The patient reported pain in the stomach area about an hour ago, but could not provide specific details. However, the pain has subsided. Physical examination revealed no tenderness, rebound tenderness, muscle guarding, or other positive signs.

"Besides the pain, are there any other sensations?" Ji Xiang asked while washing his hands after the examination.

"I vomited once," the patient replied. "I felt much better afterward. I was a little scared because of the vomiting, so I came to you on my own. Doctor, I'm sorry to have troubled you."

The patient is not feeling unwell now. She believes that she was just moving around a bit too fast, which caused her stomach upset. She feels better after vomiting.

So the patient kept apologizing, as if he had done something wrong.

"What did you vomit? I didn't hear you say anything earlier," Ji Xiang pressed.

"My stomach is upset. I haven't eaten yet," the patient said. "I had a date tonight, and after get off work, I realized I was running late, so I ran a bit. I think I ran too fast, which is why my stomach is a little upset."

"Go to the emergency room for observation." Seeing that Ji Xiang still wanted to ask questions, Zhai Yuhan interrupted him directly. "If it still hurts, the doctor in the emergency room will treat you. If it doesn't hurt anymore, it's best to observe for 2-3 hours."

"Okay, okay." The patient nodded repeatedly.

"Should we get an ultrasound or a CT scan?" Ji Xiang turned to look at Zhai Yuhan and asked tentatively.

"I don't need it," Zhai Yuhan said decisively.

She felt that Ji Xiang was really good at taking advantage of others' connections, and he was completely at ease, already treating her as a fellow doctor from the First Affiliated Hospital.

Moreover, he was a hospital director of the same rank as himself.

Zhai Yuhan had exhausted all her patience and firmly rejected Ji Xiang's suggestion.

The main reason is that the patient no longer feels uncomfortable and the physical examination shows negative signs. Why waste time on such patients?

If a patient spends money and undergoes tests but doesn't receive a diagnosis, there's always a possibility of something wrong. The most crucial point is—the patient should go to the gastroenterology department, not the hepatobiliary surgery department. Don't meddle if they're not your patient.

Ji Xiang smiled and didn't insist. "Then you two should listen to Teacher Zhai and go to the emergency room for observation. Be careful, observe for at least 3-6 hours before making a decision."

"Thank you, thank you," the patient said politely before leaving.

"Dr. Ji Xiang, if we make patients with similar negative physical examinations do more tests, it will cause dissatisfaction among the patients and their families, and may even lead to complaints." Zhai Yuhan reasoned with Ji Xiang after the patients left.

"Teacher Zhai, I always feel there's something wrong with the patient." Ji Xiang scratched his head and talked to Zhai Yuhan.

"What's the problem?" Zhai Yuhan asked dismissively.

"I can't explain it. I heard the patient call for the doctor, so I went out and saw her bent over. But the moment she saw me, she seemed to be fine. She straightened up and stood up. The patient didn't understand what happened either."

Zhai Yuhan almost burst out laughing in anger.

"Dr. Ji Xiang, you don't actually think that patients will get better after seeing you, do you?" Zhai Yuhan asked.

"It must have been a coincidence, but the patient suddenly stopped feeling pain..."

"Even in cases of acute appendicitis with sudden perforation, the patient may feel less pain, but during a physical examination, there will still be tenderness, rebound tenderness, and even muscle tension," Zhai Yuhan said.

"Yes, that's what I was thinking too." Ji Xiang frowned, deep in thought.

Zhai Yuhan had no idea what Ji Xiang was thinking.

The patient has no problems and the medical history is very simple. After brisk walking, the patient may experience nausea and abdominal pain due to vagus nerve reflex. The symptoms disappeared after vomiting.

In Zhai Yuhan's opinion, the patient could simply go home, drink some hot water, get some sleep, and be fine by tomorrow morning.

Ji Xiang is a troublemaker.

If it weren't for the cameras and film crew, Zhai Yuhan would have given this young doctor a good lesson.

But under the camera's lens, Zhai Yuhan remained patient. She didn't want to waste any more words with Ji Xiang and turned to eat.

The film crew had hoped to capture some emergency rescue footage after spotting an emergency room. Unfortunately, everything turned out to be disappointing.

Director Fan sighed. This scene would definitely be cut. If only there could be an emergency room scene, they could record Dr. Zhai Yuhan and the interns' rescue efforts. Ideally, Dr. Zhai Yuhan would have a fiery temper and yell at the interns during the rescue. That would have been wonderful.

The highlight of the show was right there, but unfortunately we didn't get to experience it.

Back in the doctor's office, Zhai Yuhan continued eating. She managed to swallow a few mouthfuls of undercooked rice, then saw Ji Xiang take out his phone. "Teacher Zhai, I'm going to make a call."

"Call your family? You can make the call right here," Zhai Yuhan said.

"Uh..." Ji Xiang hesitated for a moment. He didn't make a call or go out. Instead, he put his phone away.

"After you finish eating, continue to familiarize yourselves with the medical records. Take a look at all the patients in our group. The boss will ask a lot of questions during rounds tomorrow morning. If you can't answer them, the boss won't make a scene in front of the patients, but you'll definitely get scolded when you get back."

"Can he even swear?" Zhao Mengmeng asked timidly.

She had little presence, as if she were lost in thought.

"Of course, if you don't know anything about your patients, do you think your superiors will be angry? You tell me." Zhai Yuhan's attitude was starting to become somewhat aggressive.
