Healing Doctor

Chapter 308 Simple Task

Chapter 308 Simple Task

"Shut up!" Dean Zou heard the head of the urology department talking more and more outrageously, and before he could explain, he slapped him across the face.

Director Xu was stunned. He covered his face and looked at the dean with utter astonishment.

"Xiao Zhao is a talented person, someone our hospital has nurtured, someone who will go on to achieve even greater things. How dare you speak like that?" Dean Zou reprimanded sternly.

When did Zhao Zhe become associated with the word "talent"?

Director Xu was a little stunned, not only because he was slapped, but mainly because the word "talent" had hit him hard on the head.

Zhao Zhe was also confused about what was happening before his eyes. He stared blankly until he heard Ji Xiang's voice.

"Brother Zhao, the application form." Ji Xiang reached out his hand.

Zhao Zhe quickly handed the deeply creased application form to Ji Xiang.

"Director Xu, thank you for your hard work." Ji Xiang walked over, looked down at Director Xu with a smile, and handed him the A4 paper with both hands.

He was very polite and courteous, but Director Xu sensed a faint indifference in Ji Xiang.

Perhaps this young man is quite well-mannered, but that's not directed at him personally; he might be just as polite to a chicken or a dog.

Director Xu took a deep breath and instantly saw the truth—this young man was Zhao Zhe's backer, or rather, one of his backers.

"Sign!" Dean Zou wanted nothing more than to skin Director Xu alive, but he couldn't do anything about it for the time being, so he could only grit his teeth and whisper a reminder.

Director Xu dared not utter another word. He was suspicious, but he quickly picked up a pen and signed his name in the first column.

"Xiao Zhao, come on, I'll take you to sign some other documents." Dean Zou was unusually gentle, which left Director Xu stunned.

"Remember to come home often in the future. The Central Hospital is your home, so don't forget."

"I'll come to the provincial capital to see you when I have the chance, and we'll have a couple of drinks. You know, it's been so many years, and we haven't had the time or opportunity to get closer."

After watching the three leave, Director Xu stared at the corner of the corridor for a long time, unable to recover from his shock.

For no reason at all, Director Xu was slapped by the most incompetent senior attending physician in the clinic. He felt no resentment, only unease.

In addition, what Dean Zou said made Director Xu think even more deeply.

He had no interest in doing anything else. After considering it for a while, he quietly ran to the office building and waited at the door of Dean Zou's office.

Dean Zou hadn't returned, so Director Xu stood obediently at the door waiting, not daring to move.

It took almost an hour for Dean Zou to return.

"Dean," Director Xu said softly.

"Hmph!" Dean Zou glared at Director Xu, annoyed that he was in the way, and nudged Director Xu with his shoulder to unlock the fingerprint lock.

Director Xu was baffled. He couldn't understand why Zhao Zhe, who was usually honest and unassuming and never said a word, could be called a talent by Dean Zou.

She slunk into Dean Zou's office, Director Xu obediently placed her hands on her outside legs, stood in perfect posture, and bowed her head slightly, posing as if she was about to be scolded.

Dean Zou did not reprimand Director Xu, but instead leaned back in his chair with his eyes closed, seemingly lost in thought.

After a long while, Dean Zou said softly, "The formalities are all completed."

"Dean, Dr. Zhao, he..."

"It was a call from the city government. They said very simply that it wouldn't be finished today... Sigh."

Director Xu was taken aback.

"You're utterly useless and more of a hindrance than a help!" Dean Zou finally cursed. Upon hearing the curse, Director Xu calmed down.

"Dean, you're right." Director Xu bowed, his face full of ingratiating smiles. "Whose connections did Zhao Zhe have? I've been keeping an eye on him for so many years. He has some mental issues, so there shouldn't be anyone speaking up for him."

"You're the one with a problem." Dean Zou looked at Director Xu as if he were an idiot. "I'm asking you, can you even get into the Second Affiliated Hospital?"

"The provincial capital is too difficult to get to. In all these years, only one neurosurgeon from Yuanliao Hospital, Director Wang, has gone to the provincial capital, and that was the Fourth Affiliated Hospital."

"You actually know how hard it is to get into the Second Affiliated Hospital?!"

Director Xu was speechless.

"They've already completed the paperwork on the other side; all they need to do is sign something and go through the motions. And you're blocking them from the very beginning? Do you really think you're some kind of high-powered sewer cleaner?"

"..."

"You're just a local grassroots doctor. Who knows what important person they met in the provincial capital. Let me tell you, some people are not to be trifled with. Don't be so blind," Dean Zou said. "You dug a hole and got yourself a provincial-level famous doctor, and you really think you're a well-known figure in the province? Nonsense."

"Yes, yes, yes."

"I really don't know what to say to you." Dean Zou opened his eyes and glared at Director Xu. "Go ask Dr. Zhao if there's anything else he can help with. If he's not satisfied and makes me uncomfortable, I'll make sure you die before me."

Director Xu was covered in a cold sweat.

He knew his old boss too well; he spoke frankly and without reservation to his own people, so when his boss started swearing, he knew it was nothing serious.

Although he had doubts, he couldn't ask any more questions. Director Xu patted his chest and promised that he would do everything he could, even if it meant kowtowing, to ensure Zhao Zhe left comfortably.

Leaving the dean's office, Director Xu felt helpless, thinking, "If only I had known this would happen."

……

……

"Xiao Ji, what's going on?" Zhao Zhe asked Ji Xiang, holding the paperwork and files.

"It's very simple, we're just going through the normal transfer procedures."

Ji Xiang's matter-of-fact answer left Zhao Zhe speechless.

Having given up all hope, Xiao Ji unexpectedly brought the dean directly over. Dean Zou was usually very arrogant, but in front of Xiao Ji, he became harmless and helped me complete the procedures with a beaming smile.

If there are no problems, Zhao Zhe will eat his own head.

"Xiao Ji, you really... really... have worked so hard." Zhao Zhe didn't know how to thank Ji Xiang, and finally said the three words "you've worked so hard" in a dry voice.

As soon as he said it, Zhao Zhe regretted it. Only superiors and subordinates would say "it's hard work" to each other.

If Xiao Ji misunderstands, it will be all over. Zhao Zhe quickly smiled apologetically and tried to explain.

But today's sudden turn of events caused Zhao Zhe's brain to malfunction, and he hasn't recovered yet. His mind is blank, and the usually talkative man has become taciturn today.

"It's nothing, I just made a call on the spur of the moment," Ji Xiang said with a smile. "Brother Zhao, if there are any problems with the house or anything, just let me know in advance. I'll be rotating between orthopedics departments these few days, so I might be a bit busy."

Zhao Zhe simply shut his mouth and remained silent.

Judging from Dr. Xiao Ji's tone, if I were to make a request, I could get a house in the provincial capital.

No, absolutely not! That's incredibly disrespectful!

"If there's nothing else, I'll head back." Ji Xiang said with a smile, seemingly unconcerned. "Brother Zhao, you'd better hurry up; you have surgery in three days."

"Okay, don't worry, I'll definitely be there in 3 days."
