Healing Doctor

Chapter 305 The Useless Old Doctor

Chapter 305 The Useless Old Doctor (Bonus Chapter x4 by Alliance Leader Blowfly)

Zhao Zhexing rushed back to Yuanliao City.

"Old Zhao, why are you back? Didn't you go for further studies? Did they send you back because they didn't want you there?"

A young doctor saw Zhao Zhe return and asked him with a mix of surprise and amusement.

"Hey." Zhao Zhe stood up straighter than usual, but he didn't explain, he just chuckled.

Her messy hair was shining, making her look ten years younger.

"Huh?" The young doctor noticed something was different. He teased, "Going to the provincial capital for further training really makes a difference. Hey Lao Zhao, how old are you? Finding someone to marry is the most important thing."

"No rush, no rush," Zhao Zhe said. "Where's the director?"

"The office," the young doctor said jokingly. "Old Zhao, the head of the department is quite unhappy about your training, so don't go there and risk offending him. I told you I wouldn't let you leave. There are too few people in the department, and too few people to do the work. Just wait and see how much trouble the head of the department will give you when you come back."

"Busy, busy." Zhao Zhe bowed habitually, showing utmost respect even to a junior doctor, and turned to find the director.

"Something seems off about Old Zhao. Could it be that he's found a wife in the provincial capital?" the young doctor said to the person next to him.

"Ugh, he's the only one in the department who can keep causing trouble, always daydreaming." Another person said disdainfully, "He's always doing research and figuring out new techniques, he's even got three licenses. In the end, he'll definitely end up with nothing."

"We're just ordinary people. When we were kids, we thought we were the best and that we were going to do something amazing. But that was just a dream. I woke up in my twenties, but Lao Zhao is still dreaming in his forties. Tsk."

"Exactly, which girl in the provincial capital would be interested in him? The 'older men' people talk about are successful, mature, and stable. Look at Old Zhao, apart from his age, he doesn't match the description of an 'older man' at all."

Zhao Zhe stood at the door of the director's office, tidied his hair, and made himself look more presentable.

When good things happen, people are in high spirits. Zhao Zhe had long since stopped dreaming, but everyone needs to have something to look forward to, just like his more than ten years of tracking patients, all for the sake of that one thing.

Who would have thought that even salted fish could have a chance to turn the tables?

"Knock knock knock~"

"Enter."

Zhao Zhe pushed open the door and went in, his straight back bending over again.

"director."

"Oh? Zhao Zhe, why are you back? Weren't you supposed to be going to the Second Affiliated Hospital for further studies? Which director did you hook up with there? Director Liu, right?"

Zhao Zhe's director said with a disdainful look.

"Director, I'm back because..."

"You know how busy your family is. You're over forty, you should work hard for a few more years, earn some money so you can retire. Why do you have to make things so complicated, like pursuing further education? Do you even want to fly to the moon?"

Zhao Zhe's talkativeness wouldn't flare up in front of his superiors, because every time it did, it would be forcibly shut up.

He was holding an A4 sheet of paper and wanted to hand it over with both hands.

"What are you doing back this time? Who introduced you to someone again?" The director glanced at Zhao Zhe. "Zhao Zhe, I'm not trying to be mean, but we live in a small town, and houses aren't worth much. You've been unreliable all these years, always daydreaming. Enough already, you don't even know what you're made of."

"Director, Director, no."

"What do you mean, 'it's not your fault' or 'it's not mine'?" The director glanced at Zhao Zhe and asked with a sneer.

"It's my fault, it's my fault, it's my fault," Zhao Zhe said hastily.

"Tell me, why did you come back to see me?" the director asked.

"I request a transfer from the Central Hospital." Zhao Zhe bowed and handed the A4 paper to the director with both hands.

"What?!" The head of the urology department was taken aback. He looked at Zhao Zhe in surprise. "Transfer? Where are you going?"

"The Second Affiliated Hospital," Zhao Zhe said, suppressing his joy and lowering his head meekly.

If he were in his twenties, Zhao Zhe might have arrogantly told the director, "I'll be a doctor at a higher-level hospital someday, you know that!"

But Zhao Zhe was already forty, and he knew very well that it would be difficult to change jobs. Anyone who didn't like him could easily trip him up.

Thinking you can smoothly transfer jobs is wishful thinking. It's good if this takes six months to a year, or even longer if you never get out of this situation.

Seeing others doing well makes them feel bad, and no one is stingy enough to throw a stone at someone who's down.

Therefore, Zhao Zhe tried his best to keep a low profile.

"The Second Affiliated Hospital!" The head of the urology department's pupils constricted, and the light reflex disappeared for a few seconds.

Say it again.

"Director, I'd like to transfer to the Second Affiliated Hospital."

"Hahaha, are you crazy?" The head of the urology department laughed loudly. "Zhao Zhe, take a piss and look at yourself. Even the Second Affiliated Hospital can't keep its own PhDs, why would they need a junior doctor like you? You can't even get promoted in our hospital, let alone the Second Affiliated Hospital?"

"..." Zhao Zhe lowered his head, letting the head of the urology department humiliate him.

However, the head of the urology department only made a few sarcastic remarks, then stretched out two fingers and pinched the A4 paper between them.

He glanced at it and saw that it was clearly written above, with a row of places for signatures and stamps, and his name was first in line.

"Zhao Zhe, you're not kidding, are you?" The head of the urology department felt that things weren't as simple as he thought, and asked cautiously.

Zhao Zhe briefly recounted his experience at the Second Affiliated Hospital, being somewhat vague in some parts, only mentioning that they had taken a liking to his research and had agreed to accept him.

A surge of jealousy arose out of nowhere, and the head of the urology department's gaze grew increasingly cold.

Zhao Zhe!

Corey's most useless old attending physician.

A lifelong attending physician.

Although everyone acknowledges that he is quite skilled, he is just a spineless coward who can't get anything out of him.

A few years ago, Zhao Zhe was sent to the outpatient department because of his good surgical skills. The head of the urology department was prepared to keep him in the outpatient department for life.

But to everyone's surprise, this guy was doing incredibly well at the outpatient clinic, managing to increase the daily patient volume from around 30 to 120.

Patients from all over the city flocked to the central hospital to see Zhao Zhe as if they were possessed.

The head of urology had no choice but to transfer him back and keep an eye on him to prevent him from causing any trouble.

If you're not careful, damn it!

How did he manage to get me into this again!

The head of the urology department placed the papers on the table and said coldly, "Zhao Zhe, I cannot sign this."

"..." Zhao Zhe's heart sank; the worst-case scenario had still occurred.

He hunched over and said cautiously, "Director, I'm just a useless old doctor. Please just ignore me and let me go."

"Release him? Are you kidding me? I need a notification from HR before I can sign. And you know what? I'm the clinical director, which is basically a business-related position..."

The head of the urology department started passing the buck, skillfully shifting all responsibility to the personnel department of the administrative office.

Zhao Zhe bent over deeper and deeper, his brows furrowing more and more tightly.
