Chapter 46: Death row inmates generally deserve to die.

In the dark and damp prison corridor, the air was filled with the smell of mildew and despair.

Leylin walked slowly past the cells, his gaze calmly sweeping over the emaciated, numb, or ferocious prisoners inside.

The warden who followed him was extremely respectful, not daring to even breathe loudly.

"Warden," Leylin stopped and asked, "what crimes have the death row inmates here committed?"

"Reporting to Your Highness," the warden bowed quickly, his voice low.

"Those who can enter this death row are all heinous criminals: ruthless bandits who have murdered, robbed, and slaughtered civilians; traitors who colluded with foreign enemies and sold military intelligence; and others..."

He paused, a hint of disgust flashing across his face: "...and there are also beasts that eat people."

Leylin nodded and took a thick stack of prisoner rosters and files from the warden.

He flipped through the pages quickly, his gaze sweeping over the heinous crimes recorded in those cold words.

After reading only a few documents, his brows furrowed tightly, and an uncontrollable anger surged within him.

"Damn it! He deserves to die!" He muttered under his breath, a rare occurrence for him, and closed the file.

These brief records alone were enough to make him lose any extra sympathy for these prisoners.

The warden kept his eyes down, pretending not to hear anything, but he deeply felt the same way.

Leylin reopened the register, pointing to three names: "This person, this one, and this one. Give me their detailed files, and I want to take them away too."

The three prisoners he selected were not chosen solely based on the "seriousness" of their crimes.

Rather, his criminal motives and behavioral patterns were exceptionally "distorted" and "bizarre," to the point that even the well-informed Leylin found them incomprehensible and intolerable.

"Why keep these people alive? They're just polluting the air." Leylin said coldly, having already decided to use these three as the first batch of test subjects.

"Yes, Your Highness!" The warden dared not delay and immediately led his men to fetch the person.

Before long, three death row inmates wearing heavy shackles and tattered prison clothes were brought over and stood in front of Leylin.

The first was a middle-aged man, tall and robust, with an upright posture and a lingering air of authority in his eyes. If he weren't imprisoned, he would look more like a seasoned general.

The second was a young man, thin and pale, with a shifty gaze mixed with inferiority, yet he tried his best to hold his head high, adopting a strange and arrogant posture.

The third was a boy who looked the most ordinary. At first glance, his eyes even seemed a little blank, but upon closer inspection, one could discover that deep within that blankness lay a complete disregard for life, a cold-blooded savagery almost like that of a wild beast.

The warden stepped forward and whispered in Leylin's ear, his tone full of warning: "Your Highness, please be very careful. These three people... something is not right here."

He pointed to his temple.

"They're spouting nonsense, full of twisted logic and fallacies. Don't be fooled by them."

"Understood," Lei Lin replied indifferently, then said no more.

He raised his hand and waved it, and magic surged forth.

The light of the teleportation instantly enveloped him and the three prisoners.

The next second, the four men vanished without a trace from the dark prison corridor.

The warden stared at the empty space, clicked his tongue, and muttered under his breath, "Sigh, I really wanted to see how His Highness would deal with these beasts... Too bad, I won't be able to see it now."

..............................

As the light faded, Leylin and the three of them appeared in a secluded mountain cave.

This is the place where he last captured goblins for potion testing; with a little tidying up, it can be used again.

Without hesitation, he used his magic to firmly bind the three prisoners to the stone pillars inside the cave that were originally used to hold the monsters.

"How dare you! Who are you? How dare you kidnap me! Do you know this is a capital offense?!" The middle-aged prisoner roared first, trying to intimidate him with his past power.

"You lowly human! I am a servant of the noble orc prince! If you dare to touch me, the prince will slaughter your entire family, leaving no one alive!" the young prisoner shrieked, his tone carrying an absurd yet proud threat.

"You... what are you?" The young prisoner stared intently at Leylin, his eyes revealing obvious confusion and a hint of fear for the first time. "Why... why can't I see your [level]? This is impossible..."

Leylin ignored the three men's shouts and questions. Trying to reason with a mentally ill person was a waste of time.

He raised his hand, magic gathering at his fingertips, and chanted in a deep voice:

"Sixth-tier magic—[Deep Mental Domination]!"

A radiance far more powerful than ordinary control magic descended, instantly invading the mental world of the three prisoners, forcibly suppressing their self-awareness, and making their gazes dull and submissive.

"To prevent any accidental wrongful killings, now, state your crimes and your true thoughts in detail," Leylin commanded.

Although he trusted the warden and the files, he was meticulous in his actions, and this was the final confirmation procedure.

Next, under the influence of magic, the three began to tell their stories in fits and starts, as if in a dream.

As he listened, Leylin's expression grew colder and colder, finally culminating in a mocking and angry sneer:

"Ha! Damn it! I heard that idiot say it again, I feel like throwing up!"

As expected, he deserves to die!

Middle-aged "General":

He was once a garrison commander at the Garnet Fortress on the kingdom's border.

He was captured by the orcs after a failed attack.

To humiliate and break his will, the orcs forced him to eat what they called a "delicacy for honored guests"—a fully formed, six-month-old fetus that had been live-cut from a human pregnant woman.

Extreme fear, breakdown, and a kind of twisted adaptation led him to become obsessed with that taste.

After being rescued and returned to China, he outwardly returned to normal, but secretly began searching for pregnant women and committed a series of heinous crimes.

When he was discovered by the army, countless pregnant women, along with their unborn children, had already died at his hands.

When his secret cellar was opened, the sight before him made even the toughest soldiers vomit.

Young "traitor":

He was enslaved in the orc kingdom from a young age, serving an orc prince. Due to long-term abuse, he developed a distorted Stockholm syndrome and a worship mentality.

After being rescued by the kingdom's army and sent back to the human world, he was not grateful at all. Instead, he missed his "former master" and "his past life" terribly.

He managed to infiltrate the army and become a garrison soldier at the border fortress.

Finally, one night, he secretly opened the city gates, letting the wolves in, which led to many of his comrades being slaughtered by orcs in their sleep.

He tried to escape back to the orcs to claim credit amidst the chaos, but was intercepted by the garrison who reacted quickly and was eventually captured.

Young "Hunter":

This is a talented individual.

This is no joke; he is indeed a talent, a person with powerful innate abilities.

This is a true "gifted individual".

He possesses an extremely rare innate ability, which he himself calls "Level Vision".

His innate ability is to see the strength level of people and to increase his own strength by killing them.

Although it looks like a game, it actually has many limitations.

Firstly, he can only see the strength level of humans, not the strength level of other creatures.

Secondly, he can only improve his strength by killing people, not by killing other creatures.

Moreover, Leylin now judges that the level and strength he can improve with his innate supernatural abilities should have an upper limit, probably not exceeding the human limit, which is the level of a mortal.

The boy under Leylin's control was unable to discern Leylin's level and strength, as this exceeded the limits of his abilities.

However, this is still outstanding, a top-tier innate ability, and a talent with enormous potential.

If you were to become an executioner or join the army, it wouldn't be difficult to improve your skills.

As a result, this guy started by killing his entire family! Including his father, mother, and even his own younger brother!

Good heavens! This is even more ruthless than Itachi Uchiha!

This guy later turned the whole world into a game, treating everyone as monsters to be killed, and many innocent people were brutally murdered by him.

The kingdom's initial pursuit teams suffered repeated losses due to underestimating its capabilities.

Ultimately, they had to mobilize their elite troops and pay a considerable price to capture him alive.

Due to the extreme rarity of his innate abilities, the kingdom's high command ordered a postponement of his execution and instead imprisoned him for research.

"Very good," Leylin walked up to the three of them, his gaze as cold and focused as if he were examining a specimen on a lab table.

"The three of you are all very valuable. As precious experimental subjects, I will make the most of you and not let you die too easily or cheaply."
