Chapter 34 The Evil Sea King Clan Enslaves Humanity
After completing the experiment, Lei Lin felt cheerful.
Based on his current strength, whether judged by anime or novel standards, he is definitely among the top level in this world.
Next, I estimate that we can finally loosen up a bit and do some things.
Lei Lin flew happily in the sky.
We passed a small island with lush green grass, very similar to the island we had tested before.
There seem to be creatures active on the island.
"I bet some demi-humans have taken over this island again. Let's just wipe them all out while we're at it."
Leylin was in a very good mood and planned to kill some subhumans to have some fun.
So he used his detection magic to scan the island again, intending to see what kind of strange demi-humans occupied it.
However, the feedback surprised him slightly—there were a large number of human life signs on the island.
Moreover, these humans seem to be in a very bad situation.
"They're actually... being enslaved." Leylin's gaze turned cold.
The enslaved humans are a peculiar sub-human race.
They have a body that resembles an upright starfish, with a tubular, retractable mouth extending from the front of their head, giving them a bizarre appearance.
This appearance reminded Leylin of a creature called a "geoduck".
"Hipporito aliens? No, they're not that powerful." Leylin felt that these things looked a bit like they came from the Ultraman set next door.
These "geoduck people" are few in number, only a few dozen, yet they control thousands of human slaves on the island.
In a clearing in the center of the island, human slaves, under the whips and shouts of the geoduck people, were laboriously moving and carving huge stones to build a tall temple with a rough style and obvious sacrificial features.
The disparity in strength is enormous: the geoduck people generally possess combat strength of level 10-20, with some leaders even reaching level 20 or higher.
The human slaves were generally below level 5, and they were all emaciated and covered in wounds, clearly having suffered cruel exploitation for a long time.
Leylin's face darkened.
During his journey, he had indeed witnessed the enslavement and even cannibalism of humans in many countries established by demi-humans or alien species on the mainland.
Out of fear of potentially powerful forces, state apparatus, or clandestine presence, he chose to remain patient and observe for the time being.
But this place is different. It's an isolated island far from the mainland, surrounded by a vast ocean. Taking action here would pose a much lower risk of exposure.
"Damn it, if I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have cared. But since I did see it, and they're still acting like this, then what was the point of my trip?" A long-dormant anger rose in his chest.
Those thoughts that had been temporarily suppressed due to caution found a breakthrough on this isolated overseas island.
However, he was not blinded by his anger. While it would be easy to violently eliminate the geoduck people, the temple under construction made him wary.
"A temple... implies sacrifice, and sacrifice must have an object."
Leylin knew very well that in this worldview, the "deities" being worshipped might actually exist and might be watching over their sacrificial sites in some way.
"We must first find out which 'god' they worship, otherwise it will be troublesome if we attract the true god when we take action."
He decided to change his plans and conduct reconnaissance first.
..............................
A moment later, behind a secluded rock far from the temple construction site.
A level 10 human boy slave laborer who was unconscious, and a level 20 geoduck leader who was knocked unconscious by him, were brought here by Leylin.
He first awakened the human boy.
"【Awaken】." A soft magical light swept across the boy's body.
The boy slowly opened his eyes, initially bewildered, then saw the hideous geoduck leader lying beside him, and trembled with fear.
When he looked up and saw Leylin standing in front of him, dressed smartly, with a ruddy complexion and strange rainbow eyes, he was stunned.
"You...you are? This 'Sea King'...you're the one who defeated him?"
Although the boy was weak, his mind was surprisingly clear. He used the name that those demi-humans used for themselves—[Sea King].
"You're from outside, aren't you?" The boy's face quickly showed anxiety. "Quick! Get off this island before the other Sea Kings find out! You can't fight so many of them by yourself!"
Lei Lin was somewhat surprised that this boy, who was barely able to protect himself, reacted by warning and urging the stranger to flee.
He didn't answer, but instead raised his hand and cast a spell: "Third-tier spell: [Healing from Severe Injuries]".
Warm life energy surged into the boy's body, and the whip marks on his back and arms healed and disappeared at a visible speed.
The weakness caused by long-term malnutrition has been relieved a lot, and some color has returned to my face.
"Magic! You really are a magician!" Billy exclaimed excitedly, but then became even more anxious.
"My lord, you should leave even faster since you possess magic! There are too many of them, and their priests use evil magic! You can't save us, so please leave! Later, if you can bring more people as powerful as you..."
"I overheard your companions saying that your name is Billy, isn't it?" Leylin interrupted him, staring at his prematurely weathered face.
"You see I have power, so why don't you ask me to save you and your companions?"
Billy paused for a moment, then shook his head bitterly: "Sir, I can see you're very powerful, but there are dozens of 'Sea Kings' like this on the island, and the priests leading them are even more terrifying!"
"You're all alone. I can't let you die here because of us. If you can escape, maybe...maybe there's still hope."
Leylin remained silent for a moment. This thin but resilient boy, even in despair, still maintained his kindness and consideration for others.
He knew that it would be difficult to convince Billy of his ability to resolve the crisis with words alone, so he turned to the unconscious geoduck chieftain.
"Fourth-tier magic: [Demi-human control]".
The magical light entered its body, and the geoduck-man leader trembled and opened its eyes.
Then, to Billy's astonishment, it stiffly rose to its feet, knelt reverently before Leylin, and uttered in a hoarse voice, "Master."
"You...you controlled it?!" Billy could hardly believe his eyes.
These brutal and tyrannical "sea kings," who regard humans as ants, would so obediently call humans their masters.
Leylin offered no explanation, directly questioning the controlled geoduck people: "What race are you? Where do you come from? What is the purpose of building this temple on this island?"
"Reporting back to the master," the geoduck man replied respectfully.
"We are noble warriors of the Sea King Clan, from the great Kingdom of the Sea King."
"By order of the High Priest, we will build a statue on this sacred island to worship the supreme Sea Dragon God in exchange for divine grace and protection."
The Sea Kings? The Kingdom of the Sea Kings? The Sea Dragon God? Leylin's eyes narrowed slightly; as expected, this involved the forces and objects of worship behind the scenes.
Just then, Billy suddenly spoke up, his voice trembling with suppressed emotion: "You captured us not just to make us work as slaves."
"Once the temple is built, will you kill us all and sacrifice us to your god?"
The geoduck man seemed not to hear Billy's words and showed no reaction.
"Answer his question," Leylin commanded.
The geoduck man then turned to Billy and mechanically replied, "Yes, lowly human slaves are worthless after the temple is completed."
"According to tradition, all slaves would be executed on the day the idol was unveiled."
"Their lives and souls will be offered as the most sincere sacrifice to the great sea dragon god, in order to pray for favorable weather and a prosperous nation."
"Just as I guessed."
Billy clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms, his eyes burning with anger and deep sorrow, but his voice remained unusually calm.
