Frilian: The Adventure of the Hero

Chapter 54 [The Magic of Recalling Images]

Deep in the forest, in a thicket of bushes.

Philen held two tree branches in front of her, staring intently into the distance, barely daring to breathe.

"Magic control is the foundation of all practical magic," Frilian said in a low voice.

"【Bird-Catching Magic】seems simple, but it tests the caster's control over timing and speed the most. To succeed, you cannot use excess magic power, you cannot let the birds sense the danger, and you must activate it within fifty centimeters to ensure that the target is bound 100%."

Philon nodded.

His eyes were fixed on the sparrows pecking at the ground not far away.

Those little creatures are exceptionally agile; they will flutter away at the slightest rustling of wind. For a novice, getting within fifty centimeters of them silently is a huge challenge.

She held her breath, holding the branch in her hand, and moved forward step by step.

Just then, a series of light footsteps approached from afar.

Xia En's voice followed.

"My two mages, it's time to go home and cook for your children."

Thud thud —

All the birds were startled by the sound and scattered in an instant.

Philon stared blankly at the ground in front of him, somewhat at a loss.

Shane immediately realized that he had ruined Frillie's lesson.

Once you realize they're practicing bird-catching magic, quickly apologize!

"But what kind of [Bird-Catching Magic] is this? Its effective range is only fifty centimeters. Is it really for catching birds? Birds are so alert. By the time you get close enough to fifty centimeters, they've already flown away without a trace. Doesn't it seem pretty useless for catching birds? In my opinion, it's more like a tool for catching chickens."

As soon as Xia En finished speaking...

It was quiet all around.

Frillie and Philon exchanged a glance and surprisingly found the theory to be quite reasonable.

"Your point is valid. This magic was likely originally conceived to be used for catching poultry, after all, it's folk magic, so the logic makes sense. But why is it called 'bird catching' instead of 'chicken catching'? That's strange."

A moment later, based on Shane's words, Frillie modified her previous teaching methods.

"Philan, in order to learn this magic as soon as possible, don't think about catching birds first, think about catching chickens first."

"Want to catch chickens?"

Little Philon was thinking seriously.

Xia En was somewhat speechless.

My two sirs, I was just venting...

on the way back.

Frilian and Philon were still discussing the key points of using bird-catching magic, while Shane followed behind, bored.

Suddenly, he felt his feet sink into the ground.

not good!

He didn't have time to cry for help before he plummeted to the ground.

Ahead, Frilian and Philon were completely unaware.

When Frilian turned around to ask Shane what he thought, she found that Shane was gone.

Philon looked back and said, "It seems like it's been a long time since we've heard Mr. Shane's voice."

Reluctantly, the two walked back along the road.

Before long, Philon found a hole in the ground. The hole was small and dark, and it was impossible to see how deep it was inside.

"Will Mr. Shane fall?"

"Impossible." Frillie glanced down at it, her tone calm. "A normal person could easily avoid a pit of this size."

The voice just fell.

From the bottom of the pit came Xia En's weak and helpless voice: "Sorry... I didn't dodge."

Frillie: "..."

Philon: "..."

Frilian and Philon landed in the small hole.

The pit wasn't very deep, and the light was dim.

Xia En sat on the ground with his right leg slightly bent. His trouser leg was torn and a little blood seeped out. He looked a bit disheveled.

"You actually managed to step in." Frilian stood in front of him, her tone neither sarcastic nor surprised.

"Ms. Frillian, Mr. Shane, there is a stone tablet here."

At the front of the tunnel, Philon discovered an ancient marble stele. It was inscribed with ancient Elvish script, but she could only barely decipher half of it.

Frillie immediately became interested; stone tablets like these usually indicate ancient ruins.

Xia En stood up and slowly walked over, touching the cave wall.

"The inscription on the stone tablet seems to say: 'Here lies a mage named Daenerys, and the most precious thing.'"

Magician!

Frillie quickly grasped the key point.

He immediately abandoned Xia En and began searching for the entrance to the ruins.

Xia En: "..."

Fortunately, Philon was sensible and found a branch nearby for Shane to use as a temporary walking stick. The little girl supported Shane and carefully followed behind Frilian.

Xia En couldn't help but sigh deeply: This is the difference between an old man and a cute little thing!

The three of them walked deeper into the tunnel and saw many murals.

These murals are very rough, like children's scribbles. From the murals, one can barely make out that they tell a poignant love story.

A princess from a fallen kingdom wanders the grasslands of a foreign land. Starving and freezing, she is sold by her own heartless brother for nothing more than a false sense of respect and a loaf of bread to fill her stomach.

The princess wanted to escape, but was powerless to do so. Unexpectedly, the person who bought her turned out to be a peerless hero.

Despite his rough appearance and lack of education, he was surprisingly a gentle person.

He would provide the princess with delicious food to her liking and severely punish any servants who bullied her. He even promised her that he would conquer the world for her and build her a throne forged from stars and the moon.

In the end, the princess fell in love with him.

The story ends abruptly here.

Like all the prince and princess stories in the world, it ended with the most beautiful ending.

The tunnel had come to an end.

Philon was deeply moved, and the little girl's eyes even welled up with tears.

Xia En pursed his lips. The little girl was indeed at an age where she loved listening to fairy tales.

Frillie looked on with curiosity. Why were all the descriptions irrelevant? What was the most precious thing? Was it a magic book or a magic tool?

Xia En was speechless.

You two are really something...

Just then, at the end of the tunnel in front of them, the previously unremarkable stone wall suddenly lit up with light.

Videos emerged from the stone wall, playing before their eyes as if they were actually happening; it was a true replay of the murals they had just seen.

"It's the [Image Retention Magic]."

Frillie gave her judgment.

The mage named Daenerys transformed the entire wall into a magical artifact.

She is the princess in the mural.

Philon was seeing such a stunning magical effect for the first time, and his eyes were filled with stars.

Frillie was somewhat disappointed; such a large magical artifact was very rare. But it was a wall, and couldn't be moved at all.

Ignoring Frillie's dejection, Shane, standing beside her, could barely suppress a smile.

A line of clear text appeared before his eyes:
