Chapter 186 Hong Kong People
Liang Tiejun was the first to come to his senses and stepped outside, saying, "Let's go out and take a look."
Zhao Shanhe didn't say anything, but followed him out. Zhang Dafa paused for a moment, then followed with a sullen face.
As the group of people approached the warehouse entrance, they spotted a gleaming black sedan parked in the distance, its paint reflecting a blinding light in the snow.
A large crowd had already gathered at the factory gate; the gatekeepers and porters were all craning their necks to look in that direction.
As soon as the car door opened, a young man in a woolen overcoat got out, carrying a briefcase. His hair was slicked back, and he glanced around, his face showing an undisguised look of disdain.
He jogged to the back of the car, bent down, and carefully opened the back door.
Immediately afterwards, a man slowly got out of the back seat.
He was in his early forties, wearing a dark gray woolen overcoat, a light-colored scarf, and his leather shoes were polished to a shine, making him stand out conspicuously against the black snow and mud.
After getting off the bus, he didn't rush forward. Instead, he stood there, looked up, and swept over the gate of the Red Star Factory, the dilapidated courtyard wall, the chimney emitting black smoke, and the layer of mud mixed with coal ash on the ground.
He frowned slightly: "This is the famous Red Star Machinery Factory? It's even more dilapidated than I expected."
The young man next to him immediately chimed in, "Mr. Liang, this county town can't compare to Hong Kong, let alone France, where you studied. After all, you're a top student from the Sorbonne; you've seen the world."
Upon hearing this, Liang Jiajun's lips curled up slightly, revealing a reserved smile.
When he saw Liang Tiejun leading his men jogging closer, he immediately suppressed his smile, put on a stern face, and stood still, waiting for Liang Tiejun to come over.
Liang Tiejun came running over, panting, with a polite smile on his face: "Are you Mr. Liang? Hello, hello, welcome to Hongxing Machinery Factory. I am Liang Tiejun from Hongxing Factory."
He stepped aside and introduced the two people behind him: "This is Director Zhao, and this is Deputy Director Zhang."
Zhang Dafa had specially changed into a brand-new black overcoat that he had kept hidden away. He greeted them with a beaming smile, extending both hands warmly: "Welcome, Mr. Liang!"
Liang Jiajun glanced down at the calloused hand, took a small step back, and waved his hand, saying, "Excuse me, I'm not used to shaking hands with others."
The young man next to him immediately added with a smile, "I'm sorry, Mr. Liang is a bit of a germaphobe. It's not directed at anyone in particular, he's just like that."
Zhang Dafa's hand froze in mid-air, his fingertips trembled awkwardly twice, and the smile on his face also stopped.
His old face flushed red and then turned pale. In the end, he could only awkwardly withdraw his hand, rub it vigorously under the hem of the new coat, and chuckled dryly, "Sorry, I was presumptuous."
Liang Tiejun watched from the side, his face quickly creased with even deeper wrinkles, took half a step forward, and subtly turned to the side, blocking Zhang Dafa's embarrassed expression from behind.
He chuckled twice: "Mr. Liang comes from a big city, he's particular about science and hygiene. Our old factory is used to handling grease and grime, Old Zhang was just too excited to see the expert and forgot about that."
Liang Tiejun raised his hand in a gesture of invitation, his tone extremely gentle: "Mr. Liang has come from afar, enduring wind and rain and sleeping outdoors all the way. Let's go in and rest for a while. The stove in the reception room has already been lit, and hot tea and food have been prepared. Let's eat and talk, and welcome you back."
Liang Jiajun didn't move, but looked into the depths of the factory, his gaze landing directly on the warehouse: "Don't rush to rest or eat, let me check the machines first."
Liang Tiejun was taken aback for a moment, then quickly advised, "The machine is in the warehouse, not far away. Mr. Liang, please have a seat and a cup of hot water; it's too cold today."
Liang Jiajun turned his head and glanced at him.
"Director Liang, I have a habit when doing things. I have to take a look at the environment, equipment, and processes first, so that I have a clear understanding of them."
Liang Jiajun pulled his scarf up higher: "If the facilities don't meet my standards, I will refuse the job."
The assistant next to him chimed in, "Mr. Leung has always had high standards, so please don't take offense, Director Zhang. In Hong Kong, the work comes first, then the meal; the rules are completely different from yours."
Liang Tiejun's smile froze for a moment, but he forced it on: "That's fine then, let's look at the machine first."
Liang Tiejun, watching from the side, could only continue, "The warehouse is already open. Mr. Liang, this way please."
Liang Jiajun nodded slightly, still maintaining his unhurried demeanor, one hand in the pocket of his wool coat, and shuffled forward in his expensive leather shoes.
Zhao Shanhe followed behind them, taking long and fast strides.
Seeing Liang Jiajun still moving forward at a leisurely pace, Zhao Shanhe seemed to lose his footing and bumped straight into him with his shoulder.
A muffled thud.
Liang Jiajun lunged forward suddenly, his body went awry, and he instinctively tried to grab something, but he couldn't stand firmly on his feet. He stumbled a couple of steps before falling headfirst out.
With a "thud," he fell solidly into the mud.
The dark gray wool coat was instantly covered in black mud, and even half of the sleeve was smudged and messy.
"Mr. Liang!"
The assistant cried out in surprise and rushed over to help the person up.
Liang Jiajun was completely disoriented from the fall. He struggled to his feet, his hair disheveled, and his face turned a pale, bluish-white color.
He turned his head sharply, his eyes blazing with fury, staring intently at Zhao Shanhe.
"What are you doing?!"
"There's a huge person standing right in front of you, can't you see him?!"
The assistant rushed over to help him up, frantically brushing the mud off him while repeatedly calling out, "Mr. Liang! Mr. Liang, are you alright?"
Zhao Shanhe seemed to only then come to his senses, and quickly took two steps forward, his face showing a genuine sense of surprise.
"Oh, Mr. Liang, are you alright?"
"Did you get hurt?"
"It's my fault, it's my fault. I usually walk too fast in the factory and I didn't stop just now. I really didn't expect you to be standing so close."
Liang Jiajun was so angry that his lips trembled and his chest heaved violently. He stared at Zhao Shanhe for a long time before finally managing to squeeze out a sentence:
"Director Zhao, is this how your Red Star Factory treats its guests?!"
Upon hearing this, Zhao Shanhe paused for a moment, as if he genuinely felt a little guilty. He glanced at the filth on Zhao Shanhe's body and his tone was surprisingly sincere.
"These clothes are really dirty."
"Why don't you go back and change into something else?"
"Don't you like to be clean? It's freezing cold, and you're covered in mud. It's not comfortable to wear these clothes."
Upon hearing these words, Zhang Dafa, who was standing next to him, almost burst out laughing. He quickly turned his head away and coughed twice to suppress the expression on his face.
Liang Tiejun's face stiffened at this, he wanted to laugh but dared not, wanted to persuade but could not, and could only stand there and keep a straight face.
Liang Jiajun glanced down at his wool coat, which was covered in black mud. His face turned pale and then red with anger.
"I don't need it!"
He practically forced those four words out through gritted teeth.
Zhao Shanhe nodded, still maintaining his unhurried demeanor.
"OK."
"Then let's continue looking at the machine."
After saying that, he looked up and shouted towards the warehouse, "Old Xu! Zhu Zi! Open all the doors! Mr. Liang from Hong Kong has arrived, so be on your guard!"
The shout was so loud and forceful that it made the snow on the eaves of the warehouse fall down in a flurry.
Liang Jiajun stood in the mud and took a deep breath.
He clenched his fists tightly, staring at Zhao Shanhe's tall and straight back. In the end, he could only grit his teeth and limp along in the mud to follow him.
Liang Tiejun, who was watching from behind, was stunned. He quietly tugged at Zhao Shanhe's sleeve and whispered, "Shanhe, don't be impulsive."
Zhao Shanhe turned around, nodded to Liang Tiejun, and said without a trace of anger, "Factory Director, I know what I'm doing."
