The Necromancer's Church Management Manual
Chapter 13 Illumination
As he spoke, Gar grabbed his staff and strode steadily out of the church, walking to the small house behind it.
After confirming that he would not be discovered by the refugees in the church and hut, he placed his fingertips against his chest, feeling the warm touch of the church manual, and took it out.
Turning to the title page, several lines of pale gold characters seemed to come alive, quickly rearranging themselves to form new sentences:
You have successfully gained your first believer, and the blessing of faith has unlocked a new ability.
[Church name: Bright Church]
[Faith Level: Lv0]
Church Reputation: 2 (Unknown)
Total number of believers: 1
[Blessed by Faith:]
【1. Illumination Lv1】
【2. Light Healing Technique Lv1】
Gar was pleasantly surprised to see the total number of believers change from 0 to 1. He hadn't expected that just by promising the girl the status of a follower, she would develop faith in the Church of Light so quickly.
Moreover, the gifts of faith go far beyond this, Garr thought, looking at the two skills.
Light therapy, light healing.
Two memories flooded into Garl's mind. Garl closed his eyes and immersed himself in the experience, immediately understanding the effects of light therapy and light healing.
He tried to activate the Light Illumination spell, and a pale white light condensed from his palm, gradually transforming into a round ball of light. It emitted a soft halo, not dazzling, but enveloping Gar in light.
Unfortunately, it has no offensive capabilities, and so far it cannot be thrown.
However, this consumes very little magic power and does not hinder its many uses. Relying on the staff's precise control over magic power, Gar made some attempts: for example, he dispersed the light spell, and soon the light sphere became a circular halo; another example was extending it forward to form a slender pillar of light.
The other healing spell can treat wounds, but due to its low level, even with the staff's enhancement, Garr can probably only heal minor cuts and lacerations. However, it's still extremely useful, since Garr is playing the role of a priest in front of Selena. With this healing spell, at least he won't be exposed. Moreover, as the church grows stronger, his healing spell will undoubtedly become even more powerful; perhaps even limb regeneration won't be a problem?
After acquiring the Light Healing Technique, Garr had an idea: perhaps he could continue to disguise himself as a priest, ostensibly using Light Healing Technique to treat the wounded, while secretly using Necromancer's Spell. If Selena discovered this, he could fabricate a story that he was using an alchemical artifact inscribed with a Necromancer's Spell.
Just like the one-time teleportation compass before, Necromancer Summoning is merely an alchemical artifact.
This way, he wouldn't have to worry about Selena developing a grudge because of his concealment of his necromancer identity, and it would save him a lot of unnecessary trouble.
After making minor adjustments to the follow-up plans, Gar nodded, walked to the cabin, and gently knocked on the door.
The door was quickly opened, and the people who came out were no different from the vagrants in the church. They were also dressed in thin clothes and had messy hair. However, their physiques were not as thin as the other vagrants. Their thin clothes even made their figures look somewhat strong.
The biting cold wind hit the refugee as soon as the door opened, making him shiver. He was already somewhat resentful at being woken up, and now he was even more annoyed.
He quickly sized up Gar, and his anger vanished instantly. The newcomer was dressed in neat monk's robes, handsome, and exuded an air of elegance. Especially striking was the staff he carried, inlaid with large, exquisite crystals, which made it clear to Gar that this man was no ordinary person. He suddenly became cautious and apprehensive.
"Sir, what can I do for you?"
Seeing that he was still somewhat respectful, Gar took out the parchment describing the land deed's identity, flicked it downwards, and opened it:
"I have purchased the ownership of this land. Now, please leave this land."
The refugee looked at the land deed in Garr's hand. Although he couldn't understand the writing, he knew that if it was indeed a land deed, he would no longer be able to live in the hut that was still somewhat intact and had a broken bed. Thinking that he was homeless again, and that there was snow and ice outside, he felt resentful and immediately knelt on the ground, crying out:
"Sir, look at this snowy weather. If you kick me out, where am I supposed to live?
He tried to gain a shred of sympathy from Degar, after all, in his mind, anyone willing to spend money to buy such a church must be a priest who wanted to build a church and spread the doctrine, and the degarman's clothing further convinced him of this guess. And what such priests possessed most was compassion.
He used pleading to gain the priest's sympathy, which was a bit of a clever trick.
But Garr wasn't buying it at all.
Garr was no benevolent man; he himself was nearing death, so why would he care about the life of a vagrant who had taken over his house?
Gar had just considered whether it was necessary to subdue the refugees in the room as well, but he quickly dismissed the idea. After all, the people in the room had a conflict with the women, children, and cripples in the church, and if they later became believers in the God of Light and received his protection, there was a possibility of them retaliating against each other. For Gar at present, this conflict was something he didn't want to see.
Therefore, Garr knew very well that he could only subdue one side. Women, children, and the disabled were all vulnerable groups, and for Garr, they were definitely easier to control.
Thinking of this, Garr felt there was no need to waste words with these refugees, so he immediately frowned and put away the land deed.
Instantly, a lightsaber appeared in his hand. The sword looked extremely intimidating, appearing exceptionally bright and sharp in the dim world, but it was actually composed of light magic and had no lethality whatsoever.
He raised his sword and swung it at the refugee's neck with lightning speed.
The refugee almost felt a sharp edge coming from beside his neck, and immediately trembled all over, his eyes wide open, but he dared not move his head an inch.
"M-Master, please...please don't kill me! I'll leave right now, I'll leave right now!" He stammered for a moment, and only when the lightsaber against his neck was slightly moved away did he tremblingly pat his sleeping companion behind him, and then without hesitation, he scrambled and ran away into the snow.
Gar ignored them and looked at the vagrants who had just woken up and were still groggy.
......
Soon, the few vagrants who had occupied the hut were scared away by his method. He put away his lightsaber, very satisfied with the effect of the light spell, which was more than enough to scare a few thugs.
Of course, the uses of illumination go far beyond this.
He dusted off non-existent dust, circled back to the front of the church, and his expression softened from its previous coldness.
