A Blood-Moving Realm has arrived in the world of The Return of the Condor Heroes.
Chapter 5: Suffering!
So the two continued walking deeper into the area, spilling the wine from the jar as they went.
The aroma of the wine quickly filled the entire forest, and Zhang Huai and his companion both had rosy complexions.
Finally, the two found an open area, and Yang Guo took out a small bowl from his pack and filled the small broken bowl with the large wine jar.
The two hid behind a large rock and waited quietly for the wine snake to arrive.
I don't know how long I waited, but I felt that the sun had already begun to set in the west.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the woods and bushes. Unlike the chaotic rustling of leaves in the wind, this sound clearly had a regular rhythm.
"Brother Yang, listen!" Zhang Huai nudged Yang Guo, who was dozing off, with his elbow.
Upon being called by Zhang Huai, Yang Guo immediately sat up and listened intently, holding his breath.
As the rustling sound grew clearer, it became clear that the thing was approaching the two of them.
The two looked at each other and smiled, then said in unison:
"They're here!"
A large black and white snake slithered out, its scales adorned with golden patterns that gleamed with a cold, eerie light. Its tongue flickered in and out of its mouth, carrying a damp, fishy odor.
Its vertical pupils were fixed on the direction of the small bowl, and its snake body twisted from side to side as it slowly crawled toward the wine.
The large snake stopped at the edge of the bowl, first raising half of its body to warily look around. After confirming there was no danger, it lowered its fist-sized head slightly.
The forked tongue rapidly spits out and swallows, its eyes narrowed as it greedily inhales the rich aroma of the wine.
Suddenly, it shrank its neck and slowly opened its mouth. The mouth opened so wide that it swallowed the entire bowl and wine in one gulp.
It tilted its head back, as if to let the wine slide down its esophagus, and only after about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn did it reluctantly spit out the empty bowl.
Finally, it raised its head again and looked around, its tail swishing slightly on the ground, as if it still wanted more.
Its gaze finally landed in the direction where Zhang Huai and his companion were hiding. Zhang Huai could actually see a hint of suspicion in the snake's expression, probably because the aroma of the wine in the jar had lured it away.
But in the end, its cold, vertical pupils shifted away, and it turned and slowly walked away in the direction it had come from.
Yang Guo and Zhang Huai exchanged a glance: "Let's go!"
The two held their breath, barely daring to breathe loudly, and tiptoed behind the wine snake.
Soon they arrived at a secluded place, where the wine snake crawled back to its lair and curled up into a ball, no longer moving.
Knowing that Yin Di Shen was nearby, Zhang Huai and the two immediately decided to split up and search for it.
During the wait, Zhang Huai had already memorized the appearance of the Yindi ginseng. He sharply scanned every inch of land, searching for plants that matched the shape in his memory.
Zhang Huai discovered several suspected medicinal herbs, but each time he approached them for examination, the results were unsatisfactory. Yang Guo was in the same situation.
After searching for a long time without any results, Zhang Huai stood there, looking around with a slightly irritated mood.
Suddenly he caught sight of a herb that looked remarkably like the ginseng root.
Zhang Huai stepped forward, expecting to be disappointed as before, but when he pulled out the herb, he saw that its stem was short and straight, grayish-brown, with several fleshy roots growing in clusters at the bottom.
Zhang Huai compared it carefully again, and it was exactly the same as the appearance in his memory!
"Brother Yang! Come quickly and take a look, is this it?"
Zhang Huai shouted loudly into the distance.
Upon hearing the shouts, Yang Guo immediately used his skillful lightness skill to fly over and land steadily beside Zhang Huai.
"Oh my god, you scared me! How did you get here so fast?" Zhang Huai blurted out.
"Relying on lightness skill, Brother Zhang, don't you know how?" Yang Guo asked, somewhat surprised.
Zhang Huai scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly.
"It's okay, I'll teach you when I have the chance."
Yang Guo patted him on the shoulder, then took out a yellowed old book from his bag, which recorded the appearance and effects of various herbs.
The book was turned to the page about the ginseng, and Yang Guo carefully compared the shape described in the book with the herb in Zhang Huai's hand.
"This is it!" Yang Guo exclaimed excitedly. "That's fantastic, Brother Zhang! I thought it would take two or three days to find it, but now Auntie can have the medicine by tomorrow morning!"
"I didn't expect it to go so smoothly."
Zhang Huai was secretly rejoicing at this moment, feeling that his luck was just too good.
Yang Guo carefully put away the precious Yin Earth Ginseng. Just as the two were about to leave, a venomous laugh suddenly came from all directions.
"Hahahahaha—"
"Who's there?! Stop playing tricks and show yourself!"
The two immediately stood back to back, scanning their surroundings warily, trying to find the source of the laughter.
In a daze, Zhang Huai seemed to catch a glimpse of an apricot-yellow figure flitting about in the dense forest, but his eyes couldn't keep up with the speed of the figure's movement.
Suddenly, a gentle voice came from above: "What is love in this world...?"
Zhang and Huai quickly looked up and saw a Taoist nun with a whisk in her hand and her hair tied in a topknot, standing on one leg on a slender tree branch.
This Taoist nun was stunningly beautiful, second only to Little Dragon Girl. Her lips curled into a half-smile, like a rose with thorns, making people afraid to approach her.
The Taoist nun slowly spoke:
"Yang Guo, I've searched so hard for you! Where is my dear junior sister? Weren't you two always inseparable?"
Zhang Huai turned to look at Yang Guo beside him, only to see that Yang Guo's brows were initially furrowed, but then relaxed in an instant, and he said with a grin:
"Who do we have here? It's none other than my beautiful and kind-hearted Senior Sister Li! How have you been? Have you eaten yet?"
Have you eaten? Oh dear, I haven't eaten yet! Uncle-Master, I'll go ahead first; Aunt is still waiting for me to come back for dinner!
Yang Guo muttered to himself, then turned to make a hasty retreat.
Unexpectedly, three silver needles suddenly shot out from the nun's sleeve and "plop plop plop" pierced into the old locust tree in front of Yang Guo.
In just a short while, the old tree withered and died, showing no signs of life.
Seeing this, and combining it with the conversation between the nun and Yang Guo, Zhang Huai had already guessed the identity of the newcomer.
The number one female demon in The Return of the Condor Heroes—Li Mochou, the Red Serpent Fairy!
Zhang Huai's heart skipped a beat. He secretly weighed his options, wondering if he could defeat her with his own strength.
Although Zhang Huai was somewhat confident that he could defeat her once he got close, the problem was that Li Mochou wouldn't let him get close so easily.
She's not some third-rate character like Zhen Zhibing who would be foolish enough to go head-to-head with Zhang Huai.
In Zhang Huai's judgment, this female demon's strength was already close to the level of the Five Greats. Whether it was martial arts moves or combat experience, she was far superior to Zhen Zhibing.
Although Zhang Huai's physical body was strong, Li Mochou's Ice Soul Silver Needles were no joke; even a slight touch would result in death or serious injury.
Zhang Huai was not entirely confident that he could dodge this vicious hidden weapon unscathed.
Seeing that escape was hopeless, Yang Guo stopped pretending. He put his hands on his hips and shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Hey, beautiful lady! You've come all this way to my door, are you missing your Grandpa Yang? What a pity, what a pity, my aunt and I have already secretly pledged our lives to each other, you've come too late!"
Zhang Huai mentally cursed: My dear Brother Yang, you're only barely at the first-rate level. Don't provoke her at a time like this!
As expected, when Li Mochou heard the words "privately pledged her life to someone," it was as if her sore spot had been touched, and her face suddenly turned ashen.
"You're courting death!" she roared, her whisk lashing out like thousands of white snakes, sweeping fiercely towards Yang Guo. "Since you and my junior sister are so deeply in love, she probably wouldn't mind exchanging the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra for a broken arm and leg like you!"
Yang Guo hurriedly dodged to the side, drawing his sword at the same time to desperately block the overwhelming swirling silk ribbons.
"I'm so sorry, Brother Zhang, I've dragged you into this!"
