Evil Red Dragon

Chapter 57 Loss and Gain

Seven days later, Alekto finally returned to Chifeng Territory.

As he felt the Dragon Domain envelop his body once again, he couldn't help but sigh.

If Dragon Domain had been present in Graystone Town, I wouldn't have lost so badly. At least I could have given Helena a 30/70 chance.

When the familiar red dot appeared in the sky, the entire camp erupted in cheers.

Oliveira flew all the way from the camp to greet Alecto.

She was terrified.

For seven days, she called upon Alecto through the contract, but received no response.

Although the contractual connection was still there, it was as still as a stagnant pool, and no matter how she tried to convey her thoughts, there was no reaction on the other side.

Each time her calls went unanswered, her heart sank a little deeper.

She had already begun to think in despair.

Is Alecto going to die out there? Will he never come back?

If that's the case, what will become of her, who has been branded as a slave?

Upon seeing Alecto return, Oliveira almost burst into tears.

She rushed forward with all her might, flying so fast that she nearly collided with Alecto. She managed to stop abruptly, then choked out:

"Brother! You're finally back! I thought you..."

Alecto glanced at Oliveira, feeling somewhat speechless.

This idiot is constantly yelling in his head, it's so annoying, but he's busy dealing with Helena and has no time to respond to Oliveira.

As a result, the idiot shouted even more frequently, causing a headache, so I had to mute her.

Alector offered a perfunctory consolation:

"I'm fine, go back."

But that was enough for Oliveira.

She's still alive, and Alecto is alive too—that's all that matters.

She quickly followed behind Alecto, and as they flew, she couldn't help but scrutinize him closely.

Some of Alecto's scales were cracked, and its wings were slightly dull, clearly indicating that it had been through a fierce battle.

But the steady flight posture and the majestic dragon aura made her feel a little more at ease.

It should really be fine.

The camp below was in an uproar.

Gru rushed out of the stone house, looked up at the sky, and behind him, dragonborn warriors, ordinary trolls, and orc warriors surged onto the open ground, looking up at the returning Alektor.

Alecto had only been gone for seven days, but for his family who had entrusted their lives to him, every moment was agony.

With him gone, the territory has lost its strongest pillar.

Although Oliveira is still there, she is no longer Alector.

For seven days, the camp appeared to be operating normally, but as time went by, unease quietly spread in the shadows.

The patrolling soldiers became more vigilant, and the watch time of the lookout posts was extended. Gru and Goron met several times a day to repeatedly check the movements in all directions.

They were not afraid of monster attacks or small groups of enemies harassing them; their only fear was that their master would never return.

And now, he's back.

Gru knelt on one knee and slammed his right fist into his chest, making a dull thud.

Behind him, all the trolls and orcs knelt down in unison, their movements perfectly synchronized, like undulating waves of wheat.

This is both a sign of reverence for the strong and a relief at the return of the core leadership.

Alecto lowered his altitude, passing overhead, the hot wind brushing against the heads of each of his entourage:

"Each should perform their duties and strengthen vigilance."

"Yes, Master!"

Gru was the first to respond, his voice booming like a bell.

All the relatives responded in unison, their voices shaking the grass.

Alector didn't linger and flew straight to his nest on Red Peak, with Oliveira quickly following.

He folded his wings and landed, his dragon claws making a crisp sound on the rock.

Deep inside the lair, it remains exactly as it was when we left.

Everything was exactly the same as it had been seven days ago, yet it gave him a long-lost sense of relaxation.

He opened his dragon mouth and spat Odette out onto the ground.

Even while unconscious, the half-elf's brows were slightly furrowed, as if he were bearing unspeakable pain.

The temperature inside the nest was very high, and Odette became drenched in sweat in an instant.

Alecto frowned. This wouldn't do. He turned to the anxious little female dragon behind him.

"Olivera".

"Yes, brother!"

Oliveira jumped and quickly stepped forward.

Alecto pointed at Odette:

"Take her out, take good care of her, and don't let her die. If she wakes up, bring her to see me immediately."

"good!"

Oliveira nodded quickly, but hesitated again when she looked at the unconscious half-elf:

"Brother, who is she?"

Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask.

Alecto interrupted her:

"Just do as I say."

Oliveira immediately shut up and obediently walked to Odette's side, trying to straighten her up with her paws.

The half-elf was limp and unresponsive, so she had to wrap her tail around Odette's waist, trying to drag her away.

"Wait, this is for you."

Alector was still a little worried, so he took out a healing scroll from his spatial bag and threw it to Oliveira.

"I used this treatment scroll on her."

Oliveira caught it carefully, her eyes immediately shining, and she murmured to herself:

"What is this? Level 5 Life Breath! A treasure worth tens of thousands of gold coins!"

Then she turned to Alecto and said pitifully:

"Brother, are you really going to give this woman this?"

Alecto suddenly became alert.

What's this idiot up to now? Trying to hide it from me?

He immediately warned Oliveira:

"What do you think you're doing, Oliveira! I'm warning you, if she dies, you die too! You're nothing but a hindrance, how's your alchemy coming along?!"

Oliveira's eyes immediately turned into beady pupils, and she said guiltily:

"I understand, brother. Alchemy... I'm learning it, I'm learning it. It hasn't been long, brother, you have to give me some time..."

With that, she turned and ran without looking back.

Poor Odette, she was tossed and turned by Oliveira's tail.

After Oliveira left, Alecto bent down and placed the spatial bag in front of him.

It's time to carefully take stock of what we've gained this time.

His senses sank into the space bag.

Of the original gold coins and gems, only two-thirds remain.

Even so, the remaining treasure was still an astonishing fortune.

A rough estimate suggests there are nearly 200 million gold coins alone, along with three large leather bags filled with various gemstones, including egg-sized rubies, deep blue sapphires, and vibrant green jade...

These treasures, illuminated by the red glow of the lava pools, emitted a mesmerizing light.

Alecto stroked the gleaming gold coins, and his frustration eased slightly.

These are all truly adorable little creatures; just looking at them makes the dragon happy.

Tsk, he wants to steal Cinsera again. The risk is high, but the reward is really high.

How about we wait until we're healed and then go all out?

no no no...

Alecto shook his head and calmed down.

Helena must have set a trap for me, maybe even called in reinforcements. I need to hide first, or I'll be finished if they come after me.

Alecto took out all the treasure and piled it up beneath him.

He took out the stardust again, checked it carefully, and after confirming that it was intact, carefully put it away.

Once he recovers, we can begin treating Kula.

Then came fifty high-level magic crystals of various attributes. Alecto carefully counted them, assessing their value and intended use for each one he confirmed.

Next are magical items and equipment.

A level 5 ice-attribute longsword, a level 5 lightning-attribute staff, a level 6 amulet, a level 6 life bracers, a level 6 fire source stone...

There are also some monster fragments: the heart of the Skyhawk King, the eye of the Ice Dragon, the claw of the Fire Demon...

Alecto casually stuffed the heart of the Skyhawk King into his mouth and began to chew it.

If he doesn't have something, he might as well eat it.

He then picked out the Eye of the Ice Dragon and examined it closely.

The Ice Dragon is a subspecies of the White Dragon in this world, and its strength is slightly inferior to that of the White Dragon.

The White Dragon was already useless, and the Ice Dragon was even worse.

A fully grown white dragon is equivalent to a mid-level level six warrior, while a fully grown ice dragon can't even defeat a mid-level level five warrior.

They shouldn't be called dragons at all. Those damned humans called them ice dragons just to disgust the dragon race.

I have to say, it's really disgusting.

Alecto sighed.

This is the eye of an old ice dragon, a level 6 magical beast material, but it's useless to him. He doesn't even want to eat it, so I'll just leave it.

It's a pity about that Lava Claw. It was a perfect fit for him in every way, but the sky-high price of 500,000 gold coins and Helena's interference made him miss out on it. Otherwise, his strength could have increased by 20% or 30%.

"However, there may be other ways."

A thoughtful look flashed in Alecto's eyes.

Now that he has obtained materials like the Claw of the Fire Demon, if he can find a highly skilled alchemist, he might be able to try to forge a staff suitable for him.

Of course, this requires time, resources, and the right opportunity.

He suppressed the thought for the time being and put the inventory bag back in its place.

The harvest has been determined, but the losses are a foregone conclusion.

The most important thing now is to digest these gains and transform them into real strength, while also dealing with any potential follow-up threats from Helena.

The people of Greystone Town won't let this go easily, especially Helena.

A level seven mental mage's methods are unpredictable and unpredictable; no one can guarantee that the opponent doesn't have other tricks up their sleeve.

Although the location of Chifeng Territory has not been exposed, it is not absolutely safe, and defense and vigilance must be further strengthened.

As Alector planned for the future, hundreds of miles away in the Graystone Town mine, the light of a teleportation array was gradually illuminating.

Helena stood in the center of the magic circle, her purple robes fluttering slightly under the surge of magic.

Beside her was Cinsera, who had recovered but looked listless.

Cinsera looked at Helena with displeasure in her eyes.

"My treasure... so much of it is missing..."

She muttered to herself, her tail listlessly sweeping the ground.

Helena glanced at her but didn't reply.

She was in a bad mood and didn't have time to comfort the little female dragon whose mind was only filled with gold coins.

Isa stood outside the magic circle, her silver armor gleaming, her expression solemn.

She will travel to Twinmoon City with Helena and Cinsera, while Graystone Town will be temporarily managed by her lieutenant.

"Teleportation ready, Lady Helena."

The mage responsible for maintaining the magic array respectfully reported.

Helena nodded, taking one last look at the land where she had spent two years.

"Let's go."

She said softly, then closed her eyes.

The light from the magic circle suddenly surged, engulfing everyone's figures.

The next moment, the light faded, and the spot was empty.

The people in Greystone Town were still whispering about yesterday's loud noise.

Rumors about the red dragon attack, the mysterious mage, and the Silver Knights began to circulate in the streets and alleys of Graystone Town.

All of this was irrelevant to Helena, who had left.

Her thoughts drifted to the distant Twin Moon City, to the Witch's Guild's impending operation, and to the red dragon that had given her a taste of defeat.

"Alecto..."

She silently recited in her heart:

"Our story has only just begun."

Twin Moon City, one of the most prosperous commercial cities in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Carando, is named after the two magical towers that stand facing each other in the center of the city.

This place is a hub for merchants and a complex web of power dynamics; it is both a paradise of wealth and a breeding ground for intrigue.

Elena had been waiting for a long time when the light of the teleportation array lit up in the basement of a grand nobleman's mansion in the city.
