Cthulhu America, I can see the kill line.

Chapter 57, Xinxiang Battlefield

"Don't look at what you shouldn't see, Mr. Kong. There are many rules here."

Viper led the bewildered Kong Jiu, a hint of childlike embarrassment flashing across her face.

The "invisible water" that the master mentioned sounds like a clueless greenhorn.

The two walked through the narrow corridor one after the other and finally stopped in front of an elevator.

The elevator looks strange; the door isn't the usual sealed steel plate, but rather resembles the iron gate from the 1980s or 90s.

"Like a cage," Kong Jiu thought to himself.

"Good morning, Ms. Viper, you look radiant as always."

At the elevator entrance stood a young doorman wearing a stationmaster's hat and a dark brown uniform with gold trim. He bowed slightly and spoke respectfully.

Viper simply nodded indifferently, ignoring the greeting, and asked with a stiff face, "Can I bring one person along?"

The doorman bowed again and pressed the elevator button: "Purgatory welcomes all, you know that."

Hey~

The gate opened with a click, and warm yellow light shone down from the top of the elevator.

Viper walked straight in without saying a word, and Kong Jiu quickly followed.

He keenly noticed that there were no floor buttons in the elevator, and the sides were empty except for a keyhole.

At that moment, the doorman also came in.

"Where do you want to go? The Red Team's headquarters, or straight to the battlefield?"

The doorman took out a bunch of keys from his pocket, bent down and asked humbly.

"Headquarters." Viper remained expressionless, offering no response to the doorman's politeness.

The doorman didn't mind. He turned his finger on the keychain, picked out a red key, inserted it into the hole, and gently twisted it.

The elevator creaked and groaned as it slowly began to ascend.

In that instant, Kong Jiu suddenly felt a strange, familiar sense of unease.

He paused for three or four seconds before suddenly remembering.

This feeling is just like when I first walked through Li Yingying's antique shop and stepped into other dimensions!

Kong Jiu, who had been feeling listless due to the constant harassment from the emblem on his palm, suddenly shuddered.

Lixin Township is not an ordinary subspace node; it actually connects to other dimensions!

By the time he came to his senses, the elevator doors were already open.

The doorman gestured for Viper to step out.

Kong Jiu hurriedly followed.

After the two left, the doorman waved with a smile through the slowly closing iron bars.

"Janus, what are you doing? Letting in an otherworldly being with divine status?"

An incongruous voice echoed in the doorman's mind, causing his smile to twist slightly.

"Shut up, Sothos."

The doorman's polite smile suddenly turned sinister: "Aren't there enough otherworldly beings in this ceremony? It was agreed that I'd manage the door, and you'd manage the key. I have half the say in who gets in."

He raised his hand and waved, and the scene in the elevator suddenly froze.

Looking at Kong Jiu's departing figure from the gate, he murmured to himself:

"Have fun, and may the angels of death prevail."

As soon as he finished speaking, the scene in the elevator vanished as if melting away, and when it solidified again, he was already back in front of the door on the first floor.

……

"You seemed to really dislike that doorman just now?" Kong Jiu asked as they walked.

"My master warned me not to associate too much with that guy in the hat."

"What Master Liu said? Why... wait, what's that? A gargoyle? Wow..."

Just as he was following Viperi, pressing her to explain why she had been so cold earlier, they walked out of the long corridor and into a place that resembled a library lobby.

Outside the French windows, a lizard that looked like it had wings flew by, startling Kong Jiu so much that he stopped asking Viper a question.

Clearly, this place is no longer inside that building.

Because this floor-to-ceiling window in front of us reveals the chaotic outside world.

There were a few tables in the hall, with a few people sitting there, and... ghosts?

Semi-transparent spirits lingered in the lounge area, some reading books and newspapers, others simply sitting blankly, passing the time.

It seems this is the legendary Lixin Township, an alternate dimension bordering Purgatory.

"Mr. Kong, are you really completely ignorant of this place?"

Seeing Kong Jiu looking like a country bumpkin visiting the Grand View Garden, finding everything new and exciting, Viper couldn't help but speak up, her tone tinged with disdain.

Kong Jiu honestly shook his head.

"Then what are you doing here?" Viper frowned.

Kong Jiu raised his hand, revealing the emblem on his palm.

"I'm here to see Mina, just like I told Master Liu earlier."

Upon entering this area, the guiding force emanating from the emblem intensified, indicating that he had taken a few more steps closer to Mina.

Upon hearing the name "Mina," Viper frowned, just like her master.

She pointed to the top of the hall: there hung a crystal psionic screen, projecting rows of character information.

"Mina? As far as I know, there's only one person named Mina here."

A pale red female figure was projected onto the second screen from the left.

The woman, holding a black umbrella, was beautiful, with dark lipstick and eyeshadow. Her scarlet eyes and sharp fangs made her look both sweet and dangerous, like a gothic girl from Halloween.

A brief description is attached to the side:

[Mina Stewart, Race: Vampire, Class: Blood Mage, Exterminated 4312 souls, banished 231 allies, currently ranked 2nd in threat level.]

A striking blood-red bat symbol was displayed nearby, seemingly as a warning.

Mina Stewart?

Stuart... isn't that the surname of Eller from Red Rainforest?

Could it really be the Mina I'm looking for?

Kong Jiu had a bad feeling.

"What, Mr. Kong, isn't this mad bloodline the person you're looking for?"

Viper looked at him with a playful expression.

Kong Jiu scratched his chin, feeling somewhat caught in a dilemma.

Eller's kind old bloodline, his rebellious adopted daughter, after coming to the human world, not only accepted her bloodline adoptive father and inherited the Stewart surname, but also turned herself into a bloodline and made a public appearance?

is it possible?

Eller doesn't deny the rumors that bloodline beings hate sunlight and can enhance their psychic abilities by drinking blood, but he has seriously refuted the claim that "people who are bitten will become bloodline beings."

"Bite it and you'll live to be a hundred? Why do humans keep thinking about such absurd things?" Eller was very dissatisfied with the stereotypes about bloodlines.

So, how exactly did this girl transform from a human into a bloodline?

"Uh...it's hard to say." Kong Jiu looked at the beautiful woman with scarlet eyes in the projection and forced a smile.

"So what are you planning to do next?" Viper walked to the lounge area, took two cups of coffee, and handed one to Kong Jiu.

"If you really want to see Mina, you'll probably have to go to the battlefield; she's on the Blue Team."

Battlefield? Blue Team?

Kong Jiu took the paper cup, sat down, and gave her a questioning look, signaling her to continue.

Viper pointed crisply out the window: "See outside? From left to right, Lixin Township is divided into three urban areas: upper, middle, and lower."

She stamped her foot: "Right here is the Red Team's base. There's also a Blue Team base across the street. Maybe the Mina you're looking for is sitting there drinking coffee right now, just like us."

"No way! She doesn't have time to drink coffee!"

A red ghost at the next table suddenly yelled, "Mina's on a killing spree in the lower city right now! She just drained my blood, banished me, and I'm resurrecting!"

"Alright, old knight, didn't your chivalry teach you not to interrupt?" Viper turned and gave the ghost the middle finger.

She turned back and pointed at the red knight-shaped spirit: "Like this, if you are killed here, you won't really die. You'll just be banished back to the main camp to wait for resurrection."

"Our mission as the Red Team is to absorb the souls of the dead here. This will both prevent too many souls from ruining the rituals in Xinxiang and strengthen our own power."

"Of course, the Blue side is the same. So it's inevitable that both sides will fight each other for the soul. This rule is fairly fair. That old man Albus probably lost a lot of brain cells to come up with this 'ritual' that both the Red and Blue parties can accept..."

Viperi's words drifted off into a tangent. Just then, another red soul appeared in the hall with a "whoosh".

"Ouch! That really hurt! Damn it, is Mina's black umbrella some kind of high-level spiritual artifact? My skull was practically shaved off!"

The red soul seemed to have just "died," its form so pale it was almost transparent, and it sat down at the table, cursing.

"No one in the lower city can stop Mina; she's probably sucking souls dry. Someone, go stop her!"

Viper and Kong Jiu exchanged a glance.

"So, when you encounter the people on the other side, you either kill them or they kill you and send you back here. Understand, Mr. Kong?" Viper concluded.

Kong Jiu nodded and looked toward the small exit on the far right of the hall.

The gate is marked "Entrance to the Lower District".

The emblem on the palm points in that direction.

"Understood, then I'll head to the lower city." Kong Jiu stood up.

"Would you like me to come with you?" Viper asked.

Kong Jiu shook his head and walked straight toward the exit.
