Wasteland Lord: Starting from Thirty Days to Live
Chapter 41 Cleaning up Shiken Village
This greatsword was made from the largest bone spur taken from the back of the bone bear. Due to its exaggerated size, it looks like a door panel and is a veritable giant weapon!
The bone sword was made without much embellishment. Apart from sharpening the blade and shaping the handle, it completely retained the original form of the bone spike, including the serrated edges and the black patterns on the bone, making it look extremely wild.
The simulated Edmund held the greatsword without the slightest discomfort; on the contrary, it seemed to be very comfortable in his hand.
The story of how Edmund acquired this sword is rather amusing.
Ethan told Vittorio a few days ago that the weapon was finished, but one of the bones was so hard that it could not be cut and was too big, so it had to be made into a giant sword.
However, this greatsword is too big, and it's unclear who could wield it.
Upon hearing this news, Edmund went to find Ethan to ask for the greatsword back, but Ethan glared at Edmund with disgust as soon as he saw him.
It was only through Vittorio's mediation that Ethan agreed to give him the sword.
"Do you and Ethan have a grudge?" Vittorio asked curiously afterward.
A look of melancholy crossed Edmund's face, but it was quickly masked.
"It's not that we have any grudges, just some misunderstandings."
"But even so, can you wield such a large sword?"
Edmund smiled.
"Watch."
He spoke as if he were lifting a wooden sword, but instead lifted a massive sword as if it were a door panel. So he swung the sword around and swung it at an oak tree beside him.
As easily as a sickle slicing through leeks, he used his greatsword to cut the oak tree in half with a single strike.
Vittorio stared in disbelief, realizing that this was Edmund in his complete form.
He recalled that on the wooden bridge, Isolde had said that Edmund hadn't struck with his last sword, probably because the weapon wasn't right for him.
So that's what it means to be unsuitable.
If you get used to such a massive weapon, using ordinary weapons will indeed feel like fighting with a toy sword.
If he had used such a greatsword during his battle with Isolde on the wooden bridge, Isolde would have had no chance.
"If you fight Isolde with this sword, she won't have a chance at all, right?"
Edmund did not answer, but simply smiled, using his smile as a substitute for a reply.
It seems that the reason he didn't deliver the fatal blow when fighting Isolde on the bridge was because his weapon wasn't quite right for him.
However, things are different now. With this greatsword, Edmund is even more powerful.
Apart from Edmund, the others also upgraded their weapons, wielding long bone spears.
The bone spear was also made by Ethan based on the blueprints. He selected the smaller, sharper part of the exoskeleton of the alien beast, polished it into a rhombus shape, and added blood grooves on both sides. This spearhead was easier to pierce into the muscle than the original and could also be pulled out more smoothly.
It can be said that this elite team of more than 30 men armed with spears was practically a walking weapon of mass destruction.
"Stop spacing out, we're going in."
The person next to Vittorio tugged at him, and Vittorio realized that he was still a soldier in the simulation and couldn't act too outrageously. So he followed the main group and began to enter Stone Pit Village to complete the exploration and sweeping mission.
After entering the village, they first searched house to house. If they were to transport the stones, they had to clear the surrounding area, meaning they had to leave no monsters behind. So every house had to be searched.
Vittorio was assigned to a single-story stone house.
He kicked open the dilapidated door of the stone house, which collapsed with a thud, kicking up a thick layer of dust. Vittorio quickly used his hand to block the dust from entering.
Once inside, it's a very ordinary residential house, with some abandoned wooden frames, wooden tables, and wooden beds.
In addition, there were some scattered food sacks on the ground.
Opening the sack revealed that it once contained food, but now it had turned into ashes.
However, the burlap sacks themselves are quite valuable; even burlap sacks are in short supply in places like River Bend Fort.
But Vittorio did not take the sack away.
Their purpose on this trip was to eliminate the monsters, not to loot.
After all the monsters are killed, others will come to loot the area.
After searching around a bit, there was basically nothing else of note in the room.
Vittorio was about to leave when he suddenly heard a faint thumping sound.
He turned around and went back to investigate the sound.
He discovered that the sound was coming from the back door.
It's like someone keeps banging their head against a door.
Vittorio walked over cautiously and suddenly opened the back door.
The moment he opened the door, a humanoid figure lunged at him from behind it.
Vittorio stepped back and thrust the tip of his spear fiercely at the thing.
The humanoid monster that pounced on them was like meat skewered on a skewer, unable to move forward.
Vittorio was also able to see what the thing looked like.
This is a "person" with a face full of black aura, whose flesh is constantly falling off and even exposing the skeleton in some places. This "person" also has many protruding bone spurs or feathers, as if it has mutated.
This "person" has no awareness of being a "person".
He kept letting out low growls, his eyes fixed fiercely on Vittorio, like a maddened beast.
The lost soul.
Vittorio recognized its name the instant he saw it.
These things are what humans become after being infected by the Black Barrier and not receiving treatment. Vittorio would have become like this if the infection had not been contained.
The soulless beings like the one before us are roughly equivalent to level one magical beasts in terms of threat level, and are not particularly frightening.
Vittorio yanked his spear out, and taking advantage of the creature's lunge, thrust the spear forward, plunging it into its head.
The thing stopped moving quickly, and Vittorio swung his spear, sending it crashing heavily to the ground.
There are different levels of soul losers. It is said that if a person was a master in life, they will become a high-level soul loser after death.
But those who are clearly ordinary people turned soulless are not that powerful.
After dealing with the lost soul, Vittorio left the room and rejoined the main force.
Others also killed similar monsters to varying degrees.
It can be said that the main monsters in Stone Pit Town are the Lost Souls, because this place used to be a human settlement, so most of them are monsters that were transformed from humans after being infected.
They cleaned each room one by one, and after about several hours, they finally arrived at the middle section of Shikeng Village.
The small stone square in the center of the village.
Vittorio swept through the area and discovered that the square had once been a bustling place with many shops before its fall.
But now all that remains are empty ruins and overgrown weeds.
As Vittorio was observing, eerie wailing sounds came from the abandoned shop next door, and then more than twenty Level 1 Soul Losers emerged from it.
The group did not panic. Instead, at Edmund's command to "Form ranks!", they stood back to back in a circle and formed a spear formation.
Just as they finished lining up, the lost souls roared and charged forward.
