Chapter 38 Escape with the Wind: Freedom is the Direction
Knight Beni's eyes were bloodshot, and his right hand trembled uncontrollably.
The battle had broken his right arm, but he had put on a very good act and hadn't given himself away, which had intimidated the traitors.
However, the current situation is still very bad. Knight Beni knows his teammates' character very well. They would never give up an opportunity to become a hero, especially that guy Keman, who has been trying to cause trouble for him lately. He probably already has a grudge against him.
"Damn traitors! When I become a hero, I'll wipe them all out!"
"Your Highness Tina, the place where you put the scrolls should be right here, right?"
"Rest assured, once I become a hero, I will definitely help the Kingdom of Lars out of its predicament."
Tina was a little flustered. It was supposed to be a journey of nearly three days, but they were already almost there in just one day.
Damn it, this isn't what we agreed on. How am I supposed to make this up now?
"Yes, right here. I put it in a wooden house. That wooden house used to be inhabited by a forest witch. It's in a very secluded location that a normal person would never find."
"Really? You're so clever to know to place it in such a hidden spot. But why did you put the hero's legacy elsewhere?"
"The situation was urgent, you know, I was being chased, so I thought I couldn't put all my eggs in one basket, so I only put the scroll in and took the hero's legacy to another place."
Tina answered without batting an eye, but inside she couldn't help feeling a little panicked. Once they reached the witch's hut, her lie would be exposed, and no one knew what that girl would do to her then.
And so the group continued onward in the dark. As dawn approached, one of Knight Beni's men seemed to have sensed something and quickly leaned close to his ear to whisper something.
"Hmph, I knew it. Alright, let them follow. They wouldn't dare light torches; their journey yesterday must have been difficult. They'll be no match for us next. Just in case, take these."
Knight Beni took out a small box from his pouch, which contained some red pills. He and more than ten of his personal guards each took one, and then continued on their way.
Tina remained silent, pretending that she hadn't seen anything.
Noon arrived quickly, and the Forest Witch's hut was almost in sight. Despite Tina's reluctance, she still brought Knight Benedict here.
Now she can only hope that the guy who gave her the advice will keep his word and not abandon her.
"Where did you put the things?"
Upon seeing that Tina wasn't lying and that there was indeed a strange little house here, Knight Beni's breathing became somewhat rapid. He ordered his men to quickly search the house while continuing to question Tina about the exact location of the items.
Tina could only say that she couldn't quite remember, but she was definitely in this house.
Just then, the voices of his men suddenly came from inside the room.
"Lord Beni! We found two women and a man inside the house! They're attacking us!"
"What?! Damn it, you lied to me! There's an ambush here?!"
Beni immediately became alert, drew his longsword, and held it to Tina's neck. Without giving Tina a chance to argue, he delivered a knee strike to her abdomen, causing Tina to cough up bile.
The sounds of fighting immediately came from inside the house, and soon people escaped. Just as his personal guards had said, there were three people: one man and two women.
By this time, all of them were covered in wounds. Leaving aside the man, the two women were exceptionally beautiful. Although their eyes were fierce and filled with murderous intent, this only accentuated their delicate appearance.
"I originally intended to kill them all without mercy, but I didn't expect them to be all quite good-looking. If you're willing to kneel down and beg for mercy, I might let you live."
Beni sneered. His words sounded like he was trying to persuade him to surrender, but in reality, they were just insults.
It's not that Benny is particularly averse to women, but rather that he understands that any woman who appears in a place like this is unlikely to be anything simple.
However, upon hearing Benny's words, the two women did not get angry; instead, they smiled shyly.
"Okay, Master~"
What?
Before Benny could figure out what was going on, she suddenly felt a little dizzy.
What am I here for? Oh right, I'm here to become a hero, to inherit the hero's legacy.
Did you get the item? Of course I got it!
I have become a hero, I am invincible!
"Hahaha! I did it! I've received the hero's legacy!"
Beni burst into laughter, ignoring Tina, and started wildly swinging his sword around, jumping as he did so while making sounds like "whoosh" or "swish," like a silly village idiot playing with a tree branch.
Seeing Benny suddenly go crazy, Tina was initially bewildered, but then she realized that this seemed to be a good opportunity to escape.
Run! We have to run now!
There are only two ways to leave from here. One of them is blocked by those three strange guys of unknown origin and Benny, so Tina has no choice but to run back the way she came.
She had only run a short distance when she saw a large group of people rushing towards her.
Leading the pack was Knight Keman, who looked disheveled and exhausted. Clearly, he had suffered quite a bit while navigating the mountain path in the dark last night. However, he was in no mood to dwell on those things now. He simply kicked Tina impatiently, knocking her to the ground.
"Damn it! Where did Beni go? I just heard him say he got the inheritance!"
Tina was kicked so hard she couldn't straighten up and couldn't even stand up for a moment. Then, Knight Kerman grabbed her by the neck and forced her back to the hut.
At this moment, Knight Beni's men rushed out of the house. They were hacking at the male of the three strange men from before. As for the two women, their whereabouts were unknown. Now, they encountered Knight Keman, and the two groups bumped into each other head-on.
There was no need for further words; the two sides immediately began fighting.
"Quick! Take the potion Lord Beni gave us! It can temporarily restore our strength! Now is the time to fight with everything we have!"
"Quick! Take the potion Lord Kerman gave us! That stuff makes people go berserk so we can kill them!"
It has to be said that they are indeed former teammates; their drug-taking actions are exactly the same.
While his men were fighting with Benny's men, Knight Keman suddenly discovered a path. Then, as if he had made a connection to something, he directly asked Tina about it.
"Tell me! Did Benny run this way?"
"Oh? Yes!"
Upon receiving a positive answer, Knight Keman did not hesitate and immediately rushed towards the path with Tina.
He hadn't run far when he saw the hopping and skipping Knight Beni, and two strange women who had fled.
"What's going on?"
Knight Kerman was a little confused, then he saw two women giving him sweet smiles.
"Honey, are you here to see us?"
What?
Before Knight Kerman could figure out what was going on, he suddenly felt a little dizzy.
What am I here for? Oh right, I'm here to steal the Hero's legacy and, incidentally, take down Beni.
Did you get the item? Of course I got it!
Did I kill Bennie? Of course, I've killed him several times!
"Hahaha! I did it! I stole the Hero's Legacy! I killed that bastard Benedict!"
Knight Kerman also burst into laughter, and he began to swing his sword wildly around, jumping and making sounds with his mouth, occasionally uttering sounds like "whoosh" or "snap," like a silly village idiot playing with a twig at the village entrance.
Tina now realized that these two women were probably not real people; they were likely monsters with some kind of bewitching power, like the forest witch.
However, their abilities don't seem to be as strong as those of the forest witches, but they can still create illusions and immerse people in their own desires.
Tina felt lucky; now was her chance to escape. After thanking the two female monsters, she turned around and ran for her life again.
This time she was smarter; she knew not to walk, but to go straight into the woods.
However, the terrain here was a bit complicated, and after going around in circles a few times, Tina returned to the road once again.
Then she encountered the third group of people.
Seeing the sword being extended towards her, Tina decisively learned to answer first.
"Stop! I understand! Benny and Kerman are up ahead, you heard them yelling, right? Anyway, the stuff is in their hands, I'll take you to get it!"
The leading knight was clearly taken aback for a moment, but still agreed to let Tina lead the way. Soon they rushed to the hut. The two groups that had fought each other to the point of exhaustion saw the newly appeared soldiers and shouted "despicable!" before starting a three-way melee.
This third group had the advantage of timing, and the first two groups still had grudges against each other, so they should have been able to crush everyone present. However, the problem was that the last knight did not have the same kind of potion as the first two.
So the three sides fought a very even battle.
The leading knight understood that if this continued, it would be too late once Kerman fully became a hero. The best course of action now was to have his men hold off the others while he charged in and killed Kerman and Bennie.
Thinking this, he turned to look at Tina.
"I understand without you saying it. They're all heading down this road. I can take you there."
"Don't get any funny ideas."
"Don't worry, it's not my turn to do it."
"What?"
"It's nothing, it's nothing, just don't hurt me."
Soon, Tina and the Nameless Knight caught up with the people ahead. The Nameless Knight first looked at the crazy Benny, then at the crazy Kerman, and then looked at the two women in front of him with a wary expression, while placing his sword against Tina's neck.
Tina: "???"
"There's definitely something wrong. Tell me, what happened?"
"I don't know! No, you guys on the other side, why don't you continue? Why aren't you making a move this time?"
The two strange women also looked helpless. Their eyes seemed to be explaining that if they could release their charm infinitely, they wouldn't have needed to run away.
"Hmph! Your little tricks aren't working anymore."
The nameless knight punched Tina in the stomach, almost making her vomit blood.
"Looks like I'm the ultimate winner!"
"Not necessarily~"
"Who?"
"Thump!"
