Super God Academy: Kabuto

Chapter 60 Prelude to the Storm

Above the Great Gorge, accompanied by holy light and the echoing sound of wings, Angel Yan descended once more. She did not linger; her purpose was clear and unwavering—under the complex gazes of Dukao and Rose, she took away the still somewhat bewildered Ge Xiaolun, their destination a strange planet called Fraser.

The atmosphere was subtle aboard the interstellar spacecraft. Ge Xiaolun sat awkwardly in his seat, his gaze unfocused. It was because Angel Yan, sitting opposite him, was elegantly crossing her legs, her signature silver armor and miniskirt design revealing her long, shapely legs.

"Sister...sister..." Ge Xiaolun felt his cheeks burning. He stammered, trying to glance at the cabin wall beside him. "You...you're sitting like this...it's a bit...exposing."

Seeing his embarrassed expression, Yan's lips curled into a playful smile. Instead of adjusting her posture, she leaned forward slightly and asked with a hint of mockery, "Oh? Did I really expose myself, or are you... hiding something?"

"I...you angels..." Ge Xiaolun, his secret exposed, stammered, finally admitting in a self-deprecating manner, "Of course I have a guilty conscience! I'm a normal man!"

Yan let out a soft chuckle, a sound like a wind chime tinkling in a gentle breeze. She looked at the innocent Earth boy, her tone carrying a hint of instruction: "Kid, if you truly want to grow up, perhaps you must first learn... abstinence."

"Why?" Ge Xiaolun asked, puzzled.

"Otherwise, how could you possibly stand shoulder to shoulder with angels, or even... challenge us?" Yan's red eyes gleamed with a profound light. "Do you know? There is an underlying rule in civilized society: once women reach or even surpass men in physical fitness and behavioral abilities, society tends to revert to a matriarchal system."

Ge Xiaolun scratched his head blankly: "Uh...why?"

Looking at his dazed expression, Yan's teasing deepened. She parted her red lips and revealed the truth: "Because men are often more likely to fall at the feet of beautiful women." Before she finished speaking, she herself was amused and let out a clear, bell-like laugh that echoed in the cabin, making Ge Xiaolun blush even more.

After a long voyage, they finally arrived at Frieza. The planet appeared peaceful on the surface, yet an unsettling atmosphere permeated it. They met with the local tribal leader, who recounted in terror that a horrific ancient demon had suddenly descended and brutally slaughtered his kingdom.

However, after several days of vigilance and investigation, Ge Xiaolun and Yan found no trace of the legendary, ferocious ancient demon. They mostly encountered wandering, insignificant low-level demons. This calm before the storm only amplified the tense and eerie atmosphere.

As dusk fell on Earth, the afterglow of the setting sun painted the clouds a warm orange, yet it failed to illuminate the empty living room in Lin Yu's home. He stood alone by the window, his shadow stretched long, his gaze seemingly piercing through the glass, fixed on a distant and unknown place.

The Kabuto insect instrument rested quietly on his shoulder, like a silent guardian.

"I want to see 'them'," Lin Yu murmured to himself, his voice unusually clear in the quiet room, "but even if I go, I doubt 'he' will show up." His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, a deep confusion flashing in his eyes, "What... what happened in the future that led everything to this point?"

After a moment of silence, he turned his head to look at Kabuto on his shoulder: "Let's go see my sister."

The Kabuto insect maker flew up and down, as if nodding.

A shimmering aurora-like curtain unfolded before Lin Yu. He stepped inside, and his figure disappeared into the empty room.

A corner of the deck of the Juxia.

A curtain of aurora unfolded, and Lin Yu stepped inside. The next moment, he was already standing silently on the deck of the Juxia, like a ghost that did not exist in reality. He looked at his sister Qilin and her comrades in the distance. Liu Chuang, Zhao Xin and the others were laughing and playing during a training break, their young faces brimming with youthful vigor and smiles without a trace of gloom.

Lin Yu's figure, like a ghost blending into the night, stood quietly in a shadow untouched by light, gazing into the distance. His eyes were gentle, carrying a hint of barely perceptible doting. Yet, his senses spread out like invisible ripples, as if searching for something.

After a moment, he shook his head almost imperceptibly and muttered to himself, "They... should be nearby. But..." He did not choose to go forward to acknowledge her, but only took one last deep look at his sister's smiling face before turning around and silently disappearing back into the aurora curtain.

Over the next few days, Lin Yu seemed like a true passerby, a ghost of time. His footsteps traversed the aurora borealis, wandering through several cities where the smoke of war was just beginning to rise or where things were still calm. He remained a transparent observer, watching and feeling the fragile yet real vitality and daily life of this planet before the storm arrived. He did not intervene; he simply watched.

a few days later.

Lin Yu returned to his familiar home once again through the aurora curtain. Everything inside was the same, clean and tidy, but it felt particularly empty and quiet because the languid aura of a certain silver-haired figure and the scattered materials from a certain research project were missing.

He looked around, his gaze sweeping over the sofa where He Xi often sat, over the worktable where she used to tinker with the summoning device, and finally, he simply shook his head with a soft, almost inaudible sigh.

The Kabuto insect instrument flew in front of him, shimmering faintly, as if asking a question.

Lin Yu didn't answer. He simply walked to the window and gazed once more at the boundless night sky. This time, his eyes held not only searching and confusion, but also a settled resolve. Whatever the future held, whatever reason "he" refused to appear, some responsibilities, once taken on, some promises, once made, he would not relinquish. He was destined to enter this game.
