Super God Academy: Kabuto

Chapter 4: I'm not being a thug, I'm just showing my feelings!

My name is Ge Xiaolun. That night, the moon was dark and the wind was strong. I swear, I really wanted to do something chivalrous.

But when I rushed forward and yelled "Let go of that girl!" at the three thugs surrounding the girl, and saw their grim faces turn around in unison, my mind went blank—

Oh no, I've become the one who gets killed.

The thought had barely crossed my mind when a brick whistled through the air and landed squarely on my forehead.

My vision went black, and my last thought was: This is how my life ends, so pathetic.

Just as everything was about to sink into darkness, a cold, mechanical voice suddenly exploded in my mind:

Welcome to the Shenhe Gene System.

The sun's rays have descended upon Earth, their radiation activating your body's invincible defenses and initiating emergency protection.

"Emergency protection?" I was stunned. "Didn't I just get my head cracked open?"

"You have just suffered a fatal blow." The system's voice was completely flat.

I stood up unsteadily and touched my forehead—it was smooth, without a single bump.

I was completely dumbfounded: "Have I... become one of the Calabash Brothers?"

My sudden movement startled Liu Chuang, the burly, tattooed man leading the group opposite me.

"Oh my god!" He jumped back half a step, cursing in shock, "You're not dead? Damn it... kid, what did we do to you? You come here looking for trouble, and then you pretend to be dead?"

"Scumbag!" I spat, unable to suppress the anger rising in my chest.

Liu Chuang turned his head, glaring at me fiercely, his spittle almost spraying onto my face: "You little brat, do you know who your grandpa is? 'Headed Dog' Liu Chuang! You dare mess with me?"

"I don't care who you are!" The nameless anger burned even brighter. "You're acting like a thug, bullying people, and you still have the nerve to say that?"

"Oh ho?" Liu Chuang laughed in exasperation, shaking his head with a roguish air. "Playing the hero, huh? We're not being thuggish, we're playing the hero!"

"Screw your sentimentality!"

Enraged, I didn't even think before my body moved—I kicked out with all my might!

"Bang!"

With a muffled thud, Liu Chuang's burly body, weighing at least 170 or 180 pounds, was sent flying five or six meters backward as if hit by a truck, crashing heavily to the ground and remaining motionless.

My hot-blooded mind suddenly cooled down.

"Dead...dead?" I looked around frantically, cold sweat instantly soaking my back. "It's over...it's over...there are security cameras here, right? Officers, you have to investigate! I was just trying to be a hero, he started it all..."

"Pah! Stop talking nonsense about the Glory of the God of War!" A roar interrupted me.

Liu Chuang, surprisingly, shook his head and got up again, spitting out the blood and foam from his mouth. His eyes were bloodshot, and he grabbed a half-broken empty wine bottle next to him: "I just want to get revenge now!"

Before he finished speaking, he swung the bottle and charged at me. I, too, was blinded by rage, and without dodging or avoiding, I charged head-on!

What happened next was completely beyond our comprehension.

We wrestled like two mad beasts, each punch landing with a dull thud. My punch missed, landing on the concrete wall next to me with a thud, leaving a shallow dent; he kicked the metal trash can next to us with a loud crash, leaving a large dent.

The fight completely spiraled out of control. It spread from the street to the shop front, leaving a scene of utter chaos. Several spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the concrete ground, and an air conditioner unit hanging outside the wall was ripped off, crashing to the ground with a thud, its parts scattering everywhere.

The piercing sirens tore through the night when a police car screeched to a halt beside them. A stern-faced male police officer got out and shouted sharply, "Stop! Everyone, get down!"

Liu Chuang and I were separated and put into police cars. Inside, a pretty policewoman was taking notes. She looked at the street outside, which resembled a demolition site, then looked at me with disbelief in her eyes: "You pulled down that air conditioner unit on the roadside? And those potholes in the ground... you stepped on them too?"

I opened my mouth, but my throat was dry, and I couldn't utter a single word.

I remained silent the whole way. I just wanted to be alone.

The images from just now kept replaying in my mind: being hit on the head with a brick and escaping unscathed, kicking someone flying, the air conditioner being casually ripped off, the footprints on the cement floor...

From childhood to adulthood, that subtle sense of "difference" has never been so clear or so overwhelming as it is now.

Superpowers...

I really have superpowers!

An indescribable ecstasy mixed with chaos surged to the top of his head. After the initial panic subsided, a long-suppressed thought sprouted wildly like weeds—

With these skills, wouldn't I be able to chase after ten school beauties when I go back?
