Chapter 223 First Encounter: Dual Lines Launched Simultaneously
In the void of the Divine River Ruins, the vanguard of the first wave of Void Zerg surged out of the cracks like a black tide. They had no formation, no tactics, only the most primal instinct to devour—billions of compound eyes simultaneously locked onto the silver-white fleet ahead, and billions of pairs of insect wings vibrated at the same time, emitting a piercing shriek.
That shriek wasn't a sound, but a shockwave on a spiritual level. It pierced through the void, through the ship's energy shield, through the mental defenses of the angel warriors, like an invisible blade, cutting a gash deep within the consciousness of each one. Dozens of low-ranking angel warriors simultaneously clutched their heads, their silver wings suddenly stiffening, their bodies losing balance in the void. But many more angels remained unmoved—their eyes burned with a silver-white light, the divine will personally blessed by Keisha, an iron will forged through tens of thousands of years of battle.
Keisha stood on the bridge of the Skyblade VII, her silver eyes calm as a mirror. She gave no orders, but simply slowly raised her right hand and pointed forward.
The angelic fleet opened fire simultaneously. Silvery-white holy flames erupted from the main cannons of the twelve Skyblade warships, weaving an impenetrable net of light in the void. Wherever the beams passed, the bodies of the Void Insectoids shrank, charred, and disintegrated like paper licked by the flames. But the black tide seemed endless; the first wave evaporated, the second filled the gaps, and the third surged wildly from the cracks.
Liang Bing sat cross-legged on the command platform of Demon One, her purple eyes fixed on the fluctuating data on the screen, a cryptic smile playing on her lips. "Almost done," she murmured, then spoke into the communicator, her voice languid yet undeniably authoritative, "Rose, it's our turn."
A dark purple light emanated from the ranks of the demon fleet—not from artillery fire, not from beams of light, but from the distortion of space itself. Rose stood at the bow of the Demon One, her arms outstretched, dark purple energy threads spreading from her fingertips like a spiderweb across the void. It was the ultimate application of the demonic genes—spatial manipulation. The Zerg's charge path was twisted, folded, and disrupted. Countless Zerg found themselves charging forward, yet inexplicably crashing into their comrades, or being teleported back to the starting point of their charge.
Chaos spread through the insect swarm. And just then, the Sunfire fleet opened fire. Golden starlight cannons roared from the main guns of the three Sunfires, their light more intense and ferocious than the holy flames of angels, as if the core of a star had been compressed into a beam of light and then slammed into the heart of the insect swarm. The explosions illuminated the entire void, and tens of thousands of insectoids were reduced to ashes in the golden flames.
Lena stood at the bow of the flagship, her golden-red battle robes fluttering in the energy storm. Her hands burned with stellar flames, each swing unleashing a golden blade of light that cleaved through the swarm of insects, slicing those attempting to flank her in two. Her breathing was steady, her gaze focused, but the fine beads of sweat on her forehead betrayed the strain she endured—manipulating stellar energy required a constant mental connection with the sun, and the void energy near the ruins of the Divine River was constantly disrupting this connection.
The Earth fleet did not participate in the first wave of attacks. Ge Xiaolun stood on the bridge of the Giant Gorge, his eyes fixed on the battlefield, his knuckles white as he gripped the Galactic Force in his hand. He wanted to rush forward, to engage the Zerg head-on, but he knew his place—the reserve. Before a breach appeared in the defenses, before ground troops needed support, before the final battle arrived, he had to wait. Liu Chuang stood beside him, the blade of the God-Slaying Axe glowing a dark red light, but he too remained still. He was simply waiting, waiting for his moment.
At the edge of the battlefield, a crimson light quietly appeared. Tsukasa Kadoya emerged from the aurora curtain, standing at the highest point of the battlefield, overlooking the meat grinder-like void below. He didn't transform; he simply wore his crimson suit, carrying a camera, like a passing tourist. But his eyes, those eyes that always carried a lazy and playful air, were now unusually sharp.
He's searching. Searching for that one target who's truly worth his time.
Deep within the rift, Kunxu hovered in the center of the Void Sea Clan's formation. Three pairs of azure, swirling eyes pierced through layers of space, watching the turbulent battlefield. Its body remained motionless, only its scales seemed to breathe slowly. With each breath, ripples of azure light spread outwards, as it used its spiritual field to cover the entire battlefield, sensing every subtle change.
Beside it stood Youluo, the alluring woman leaning against a wisp of void, her slender fingers toying with a strand of dark purple energy. Her eight limbs were slightly curled, the void toxins at their tips condensing into tiny droplets that gleamed dangerously in the darkness. Her gaze pierced through the crack, landing on the battlefield, on the silver-white fleet, on the dark purple figure manipulating space, and on the crimson light.
"It's almost over," Kunxu said, his voice deep and resonant, like an ancient echo from the deep sea. "The stability of the rift has reached a critical point."
A smile played on Youluo's lips, a smile devoid of warmth, only a cold anticipation. "Almost there, almost there," she repeated Kunxu's words, her voice sharp yet drawn-out, like the high-frequency vibration of insect wings. "Have the Hui side prepare. Activate both lines simultaneously, so they'll be caught off guard."
Kunxu didn't speak, only nodded slightly. Its consciousness traversed the endless void, establishing a connection with the serpent waiting at the edge of the Emerald Galaxy. The connection was weak, like a candle flickering in the wind, but enough to convey a simple message—prepare.
The Emerald Galaxy, hovering at the edge of the rift, its massive form resembled a continent floating in the void. Its single eye burned with an earthy-yellow flame, its gaze fixed on the unfamiliar star field opposite the rift. There, it sensed an aura—a peaceful, stable aura, yet like an iceberg, its surface calm, but beneath which lay a sharp edge capable of sinking a giant ship.
In the serpent's single eye, a flame flickered. It was waiting. Waiting for Kunxu's signal. Waiting for the moment of synchronized attack. Waiting to finally lead the Earth's royal family to set foot on the land of that new universe.
"It'll be soon," the serpent whispered, its voice booming through the void. The royal warriors behind it simultaneously raised their heads, their countless eyes burning with the same flame.
On the battlefield of the Divine River Ruins, Keisha's gaze pierced through the silvery-white holy flames, through the dark purple spatial distortions, and through the golden starlight, landing deep within the cracks. She could sense something gathering there—not the insectoid minions, not the sea race priests, but a real being, one that posed a real threat to her.
"Liang Bing," Keisha said, her voice transmitted to Demon One via the dark communication system.
"What?" Liang Bing's voice was as impatient as ever, but Keisha could hear the tension beneath that impatience.
"Their main force is coming," Keisha said, her tone as calm as still water. "Have Rose prepare the spatial anchor point. I need you to deploy a dark energy interference field around the rift."
"You're ordering me around?" Liang Bing's voice rose a few decibels.
"I'm begging you," Keisha said.
Silence... Then, Liang Bing's voice rang out again, with a hint of barely perceptible softness: "I understand."
Dark purple energy spread from the demon fleet, like a thin mist, slowly enveloping the rift. It was the ultimate application of demonic genes—a dark energy interference field. Within this field, the flow of void energy was disrupted, the expansion rate of the rift was slowed, and any void creatures attempting to emerge from the rift would be eroded and weakened by the dark energy the instant they passed through the field.
Deep within the rift, Kunxu slightly shifted its massive body. It sensed the dark energy interference field, the force attempting to slow the rift's expansion. But it remained calm, showing no reaction whatsoever. It knew that the interference field couldn't stop it. What could truly stop it was still far away, still waiting.
"Youluo," Kunxu said.
"Um."
"It's time to let them in."
Youluo smiled. In that smile, the cold killing intent belonging to a queen of a race was finally revealed. She raised her slender hand and waved it forward.
Deep within the rift, the main force of the Void Zerg moved simultaneously. These were beings incomparable to the previous minions—they were far larger, their carapaces thicker, and their compound eyes glowed with a dark purple light, the overflowing void energy surging within them. Their numbers were terrifying, like a black tsunami, surging wildly from the rift and instantly filling the entire void.
The allied lines trembled violently. The angels' holy flames began to falter, the demons' dark energy interference field began to crack, and the sun's stellar energy cannons began to overheat. The Earth fleet finally moved—Ge Xiaolun rushed out of the bridge, the power of the Milky Way transforming into a giant lightsaber in his hand. With a single strike, he cleaved the Zerg commander at the forefront in two. Liu Chuang followed closely behind, his God-Slaying Axe drawing a dark red arc in the air, the Zerg's carapace as fragile as paper wherever the blade passed.
But the swarms of insects continued to arrive. Endless, tireless, and fearless.
Tsukasa Kadoya remained motionless. He simply stood at the edge of the battlefield, gazing at the meat grinder-like void, his camera aimed deep within the crack, and pressed the shutter.
Click.
The image freezes. In that photograph, deep within the rift, two enormous figures are slowly moving. One is a deep blue, the other a dark purple. They are Kunxu and Youluo—the last two lines of defense among the three Void races, about to enter the fray in person.
Tsukasa Kadoya put down his camera, a slow smile playing on his lips. "Finally here," he murmured.
A magenta light shone on him.
