Super God Academy: Kabuto

Chapter 194 Chase VS Lancang

At the edge of the known universe lies a forgotten star field. Here once nurtured several fledgling, primitive civilizations, witnessing the budding of life and primal yearning. Now, only broken nebulae and lifeless planets remain, forming a cruel picture of a cosmic graveyard.

The battlefield is located at the heart of this graveyard.

Several planets, once perhaps azure or verdant, are now completely enveloped by a sticky, writhing biofilm emitting a dark blue light. This film seems to possess an independent life, pulsating with an eerie rhythm, creating a terrifying harmony with the churning, howling oceans within the planets, constantly releasing low-frequency mental waves powerful enough to distort minds and erode willpower. This is the Triangulum's "nesting"—transforming suitable planets into their home grounds and arsenals.

Slowly patrolling among the nebulae are the fleets of triangular celestial bodies. They are not warships in any conventional sense, but rather grotesque sculpted creatures, forcibly enlarged and salvaged directly from a deep-sea nightmare. Their hulls are pieced together from hardened biomass, translucent energy crystals, and a ghastly white, skeletal structure. Their surfaces are covered with flowing, fluorescent veins and constantly opening and closing holes, sometimes erupting high-frequency shockwaves that disintegrate matter, and sometimes releasing chilling, soul-freezing whispers. They are living weapons, moving domains.

Leading this bizarre legion is an anomaly among anomalies. Known as "Lan Cang," its form far surpasses that of ordinary triangular soldiers. Nearly four meters tall, its entire body is covered in dense, dark blue-black scales resembling deep-sea iron. Its streamlined torso possesses explosive power and eerie flexibility. Its head is a fusion of a legendary dragon's head and that of a deep-sea predator, a fish—majestic and ruthless. Three pairs of compound eyes, arranged in a fan shape, gleam with a calculating light—a light far beyond that of a wild beast, a blend of high rationality and cruelty. The Void Sea Clan blood flowing within it grants it power far exceeding that of its kind and an affinity for void energy.

Its opponent is the angel who ventured into this place alone.

The silver armor reflected a solitary and sharp light under the dim starlight and the eerie, cold glow of the triangular creature. Her golden hair flew wildly in the chaotic energy currents, like burning flames. Her face was taut, her eyes sharp as a hawk piercing the darkness. The flaming sword in her hand was an extension of her conviction and power; each swing and thrust carried a sacred flame that purified all evil, severing and vaporizing the attacking bio-tentacles, high-frequency shockwaves, and even materialized mental spikes.

She moved with incredible speed, leaving golden afterimages in the air, attempting to break through the almost solidified, constantly flowing, azure water shield surrounding Lan Cang, relying on the angel's exceptional mobility and combat skills. That shield not only possessed astonishing physical defense but also constantly emanated a power that eroded the spirit, causing those who approached to become agitated and experience a decline in their computational abilities.

"Evil forms will eventually be consumed by the flames of justice!" Zhui shouted, seizing a gap in Lancang's attack. The light of the Blazing Sword surged to its limit, and man and sword became one, transforming into a blazing golden stream of light, piercing straight for the most concentrated compound eyes on Lancang's left side—the weakness of any biological structure!

Lancang reacted with astonishing speed. The water wave shield flowing in front of it instantly collapsed, rotated, and solidified, forming a giant diamond-shaped ice crystal shield with sharp edges and crystal clear appearance at the critical moment, with strange dark blue runes flowing on the surface of the shield.

"clang--!!!"

A deafening crash was accompanied by a burst of dazzling energy sparks! The tip of the flaming sword pierced deep into the ice shield, the holy flames and the extreme cold energy fiercely clashing, and spiderweb-like cracks instantly spread across the surface of the ice shield, scattering ice crystal fragments, but it did not shatter completely in the end.

In the instant the sword and shield were locked in a stalemate, Lan Cang's right arm, covered in bone armor and shaped like a giant fin, swung silently. Without light or shadow, without the sound of air being torn apart, an invisible and intangible mental spike, yet causing subtle ripples in the surrounding space, like the most insidious hidden arrow, ignored all physical defenses and struck straight into the depths of Angel Chase's mind!

"Ugh!" Zhui groaned, feeling as if a cold awl had pierced the core of her consciousness. The calculations in her divine domain instantly became sluggish and disordered, and she even saw strange illusions—the roar of the deep sea and countless distorted whispers. Her movements inevitably froze.

Lancang had been waiting for this moment! The biomass platform suspended beneath her, connected to her spirit, suddenly trembled violently. Several dark blue tentacles, as thick as buckets and covered with ferocious suckers and barbs, shot out from extremely tricky angles (even from below her blind spot), weaving into a net of death, chasing and strangling her!

Despite the throbbing pain and dizziness in her head, Zhui forcefully flapped her wings, drawing a blazing defensive ring with her flaming sword. The holy flames incinerated the tips of the first few tentacles that attacked, turning them into charred ashes. However, there were too many tentacles, and their attack trajectories were too unpredictable. Two of the thickest and most cunning tentacles managed to evade the sword's edge. One coiled tightly around her ankle, while the other, like a venomous snake, wrapped around her left wing!

A cold, slippery sensation instantly washed over her as the suction cups firmly adhered, exerting a tremendous binding force. Even more terrifying, a chilling feeling, as if it could drain life and energy, spread along the point of contact! The flames around her instinctively surged, attempting to incinerate these blasphemous creatures, but the viscous, pungent, and foul-smelling blue mucus secreted from the surface of the tentacles somehow managed to counteract the purifying effect of the sacred flames. The tough biomass sizzled under the burning flames but did not immediately break.

The battle descended into a suffocating stalemate. Angel Chase's individual combat strength was undoubtedly superior; each effective attack left scorch marks on Lancang's scales or forced it to expend energy to repair them. However, Lancang's power system was bizarre and comprehensive. Its home-field advantage (the modified star field was like its deep-sea divine kingdom) allowed it to thrive, while the pervasive mental interference, exquisite water/ice manipulation, and the environmental suppression formed by the entire Triangular Legion's coordinated efforts made Chase feel as if she were trapped in an invisible yet relentlessly pressing quicksand swamp. She remained incomparably brave, her sword light sharp, but it was clear to everyone that her energy expenditure far exceeded that of her opponent. Her golden figure, amidst the dark blue waves, was being gradually compressed in her movement space, and her radiance seemed to dim slightly.

On the edge of the battlefield, on the far side of a forgotten, crater-strewn asteroid.

Beneath the distorted optical camouflage, a small warship with a rugged and menacing style, painted with ancient and rebellious symbols, was hidden. Hua Ye, without any regard for appearances, sat sprawled in the best spot by the viewing window, legs crossed, swirling a glass of scarlet liquor plundered from some unfortunate civilization, and watching with great interest the "drama" of light and shadow intertwined and energy surging in the distance.

"Tsk tsk tsk," Hua Ye clicked his tongue, took a sip of wine, and his gaze lingered on Angel Chase's figure, which was accentuated by the intense battle and made her look even more dashing in her silver armor. "The way Angel Chase is fighting under Keisha's little skirt is getting more and more impressive. Look at that waist, those legs... It's a pity that she's as stubborn and inflexible as Keisha."

He swirled his wine glass, commenting on the battle: "That big seafood guy on the other side... Lancang? The name sounds intimidating. He's got some skill with his mental attacks, even managing to mess with the brains of high-ranking angels. And that water manipulation to turn into ice, that domain into a cage... tsk tsk, it's kind of like what we did back in the day, but even more... sinister."

Ruoning stood behind him, arms crossed, expressionless, like the most detached observer: "Lancang's tactics are very effective. It doesn't rely on brute force, but rather uses its racial talents and the modified environment to drag the battle into its most effective rhythm—wear and tear, disruption, and suppression. Angel Chase's personal strength advantage is being offset by the environment. Based on the current rate of energy decay and the cumulative effect of mental interference, without external intervention, she can only maintain high-intensity combat for a maximum of twenty-five to thirty minutes. After that, she will either lose mobility due to energy depletion, or her mental defenses will develop a vulnerability that can be exploited."

Upon hearing this, Hua Ye grinned, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of greed and calculation, much like a hunter eyeing his prized prey fall into a trap: "Defeat? Get killed by these stinking seafood, or turned into an idiot? That would be such a waste." He put down his wine glass, his fingers unconsciously tapping the armrest of his chair. "Wait a little longer, let them wear each other down a bit more... until that little skirt is really about to give out, then we'll make our 'timely' appearance. Hero saves the damsel in distress, it's a cliché, but sometimes it works especially well on these little brats whose heads are filled with 'justice' and 'honor.' Then, since we're the ones who saved her, shouldn't she show some appreciation? And shouldn't Keisha feel indebted too?"

Ruoning glanced at him, a barely perceptible hint of cold sarcasm flashing in her eyes, but her tone remained calm: "According to the partial information shared by Death God Karl, the shadow of the Void does indeed exist behind the Triangular Civilization. Contact with them carries an extremely high risk. Their thought process is completely different from ours and the angels'."

"High risk, high reward, right, my Ruoning?" Hua Ye waved his hand dismissively, picking up his glass again. "Besides, we've come all this way to this godforsaken corner of the universe, isn't it all for fun, and maybe to see if we can snag a little something? Even when watching a show, you have to enter at the most exciting moment, don't you think?"
