Super God Academy: Kabuto
Chapter 156 Erosion
Deep in space, on the outskirts of a mottled blue galaxy, two figures suddenly appeared in the tranquil starry sky: Lin Yu and Tsukasa Kadoya. They gazed at the planet ahead, its surface shimmering a unique aquamarine blue under the starlight—one of the important strongholds of the Triangular Civilization.
Tsukasa Kadoya crossed his arms and glanced at Lin Yu, who stood beside him with a serious expression. "What's up? Planning to go down for a 'friendly visit'? Or... are you going to directly cause trouble for these seafood bastards?"
Lin Yu's gaze seemed to pierce through the planet's atmosphere, landing on the unfathomable depths of its ocean: "I suspect that some of the unusual movements of the Triangular Civilization, and even their potential 'evolution,' are related to infiltration or influence from the void. Their perception of void threats is too 'timely' and 'specific,' which is illogical. It's necessary to get closer and investigate."
Just as the two were weighing whether to dive in directly, a mottled blue scene unfolded in the deep-sea royal court, the chieftain's bedroom.
This is not a palace or pavilion, but a dark realm that is constantly changing shape and constructed from pure spiritual energy fields and bioluminescence. The enormous black shadow—the patriarch Lan Xing—suspends in the center, and on the surface of its pitch-black body, there is a faint, eerie black aura that is incongruous with the surrounding deep-sea environment.
A slightly smaller, triangular figure silently slid into the outer perimeter of the palace, conveying a wave of respect as if requesting an audience.
"Come in." Lan Xing's mental command resounded directly, cold and authoritative.
The triangular entity entered the core of the domain and reported to Lanxing: "Clan leader, we have established a stable one-way connection with 'the other side' through the altar. 'The other side' has promised that as long as we can successfully create enough chaos in this universe to distract the attention of the major god-level civilizations and prevent them from paying attention to other things, especially to strengthening or focusing on certain 'sealed nodes', they will allow our branch to return to our clan after our descent and grant us royal status and fiefdoms."
The black aura on Lanxing's body seemed to stir slightly. It remained silent for a moment, its thoughts carrying a mixture of longing and ruthlessness: "Alright. How's the 'transformation' progressing on Lan and Lancang's side?"
"Chief Hui, the 'seed' has been subtly implanted through deep infection within the spiritual network. It is expected that soon, the will of their core decision-making body will be subtly rewritten by the imprint of the 'Great Void,' and they will eventually embrace evolution like us, becoming the glorious Void Sea Clan. At that time, the mainstream will of the entire Triangular Civilization will completely turn to us."
"Well done." Lan Xing's thoughts revealed a hint of satisfaction. "Closely monitor the altar, ensuring the communication channel with 'the other side' remains secret and stable. Await further instructions. The moment to 'open the door' is drawing ever closer."
As this secret conversation, which would determine the fate of civilization, took place inside the palace, Lin Yu, far beyond the planet's orbit, suddenly frowned. An extremely faint, yet malevolent and ominous mental scan, like the tentacles of the deep sea, stealthily swept over the area where he was located.
"We've been discovered," Lin Yu whispered to Kadoya Tsukasa, his tone certain. "Something's 'watching' us down there. It's not a regular detection; it's a lock-on with a strong will... Let's retreat."
Without hesitation, he waved his hand and drew out a colorful curtain of light beside him.
"Huh? Leaving already?" Tsukasa Kadoya was somewhat surprised, but reacted quickly, stepping into the light barrier. "Not even saying goodbye?"
"Make a move that alerts the enemy." Lin Yu followed closely behind, and the light screen instantly closed. The two figures vanished from their spot as if erased by an eraser. "Our goal is not to start a war now. Making too much noise might alert Karl, who has been watching the void, or even alert the 'thing' lurking in advance, causing them to change their plans."
Almost the next second after they disappeared, the mottled blue planet returned to its original position in orbit.
A spatial ripple appeared, and dozens of powerful high-level triangular beings, led by Clan Chief Lan Xing, materialized out of thin air! Their powerful bio-fields merged into one, sealing off the surrounding space. Their azure mental scans swept back and forth like searchlights, but found nothing.
Lan Xing's enormous body, shrouded in black mist, hovered silently in the vacuum, its single eye gazing in the direction where Lin Yu and the other had disappeared. A chilling mental fluctuation reverberated within the high-level network of the triangular entity.
"The super-lifeform of the Divine River Entity... its reaction is very sharp. Was it just passing by by chance, or... did it sense something?" A murderous glint flashed in its mind. "In any case, the plan must be accelerated. Delay will only lead to complications. Notify all infiltrating units to speed up the 'seeding' and 'catalysis' processes. There can be no more accidents before we are ready for the 'welcome ceremony'."
A desolate asteroid belt far from the mottled blue galaxy.
The space rippled once more, and Lin Yu and Tsukasa Kadoya stepped out from a gray light curtain and landed on a giant rock.
"Hey, why didn't we just go down and fight them?" Tsukasa Kadoya cracked his knuckles in dissatisfaction. "With our strength, even if that's their lair, we could easily turn it upside down and leave, right? I doubt those seafood could stop us."
"It's not that I'm afraid they can stop us." Lin Yu shook his head, his gaze fixed on the direction of the mottled blue, his eyes deep. "It's that I don't want to 'alert the enemy.' The spying intent we just sensed was very unusual, filled with... a sense of 'contamination.' If I'm not mistaken, some of the higher-ups of the Triangle may have already been eroded by void energy, or have reached some kind of symbiotic or subservient relationship."
He turned to Tsukasa Kadoya: "Starting a war now would certainly cause destruction, but it would also immediately expose our focus and strength, potentially forcing the Void forces behind them to adjust their strategies, or even prompting Karl to act prematurely. More importantly, Karl..."
"Karl? That Grim Reaper?" Tsukasa Kadoya raised an eyebrow. "Are you afraid he'll cause trouble?"
"It's not entirely out of fear." Lin Yu paused, as if remembering something, his tone somewhat complicated. "It was 'him' who told me—Karl, he can't die now. At least, before the Void truly descends and certain things are clarified, he must live to continue his 'opening the door' plan."
Tsukasa Kadoya paused for a moment, clearly understanding who "he" referred to. Information from the "future" or another timeline often contains paradoxes and profound meanings. He nodded, no longer dwelling on the battle: "Alright, so where to next? We have to do something, we can't just stand by and watch them cause trouble."
Lin Yu pondered for a moment, his gaze drifting towards a desolate direction deep within the starry sky: "I want to... go and see the ruins of the Divine River civilization. According to the historical records of the Super God Academy, the annihilation of the Divine River is intricately linked to the void. Principal Kiran held out 'there' for so long; perhaps besides the seal, he left behind some other... clues, or warnings."
"The Shenhe Ruins? I think I've been there before." Tsukasa Kadoya became interested and snapped his fingers. "Let's go then. I've been wanting to see what traces that 'thing' that could completely wipe out a glorious civilization left behind."
A curtain of aurora, its edges shimmering with gray and colorful light, unfolded before him, more stable than usual, seemingly designed specifically for this long-distance, purposeful crossing.
Without further hesitation, Lin Yu stood shoulder to shoulder with Tsukasa Kadoya and stepped into the strange curtain.
The curtain falls, and the asteroid belt falls silent once more. Their journey will take them to one of the most mysterious and dangerous ruins in the known universe, where the key to all answers may lie, or perhaps to a deeper, more profound despair.
