Super God Academy: Kabuto

Chapter 123 Little Chef He Xi

Just as the three were enjoying the peaceful chatter after surviving the ordeal, a familiar gray light screen suddenly unfolded in the courtyard, and Tsukasa Kadoya walked out with his hands in his trench coat pockets, his signature gait carrying a hint of inquiry on his face.

"Hey, you three, where did you go before?" He asked bluntly, his gaze lingering on Lin Yu for a few seconds longer. "The entire universe couldn't sense your presence; it was as if you had completely evaporated."

The three looked at him, and Lin Yu helplessly spread his hands: "We don't know exactly where that place was. We were just inexplicably taken away and then inexplicably sent back." He then changed the subject, with a hint of teasing, "By the way, weren't you supposed to be a 'devil instructor,' training those kids in the Super Soldier Company? How come you had time to come here?"

Tsukasa Kadoya smirked, his tone still the same: "Come check if you're dead. Since you're still alive and kicking, I'm relieved. I'm off." He came and went as he pleased, without any hesitation, turning around and stepping into the gray light curtain, disappearing without a trace, as swift and decisive as if he were just passing by to check.

He Xi gently tugged at Lin Yu's sleeve and whispered: You guys...

Lin Yu smiled and patted her hand, saying, "It's okay, that's just how he is, always quick to criticize." He glanced at the sky and asked, "What do you want to eat tonight? I'll cook."

Unexpectedly, He Xi volunteered, "You've been through so much today, take a break. Today... I'll cook for you." A hint of eagerness shone in her icy blue eyes.

Lin Yu was somewhat surprised, then smiled warmly, "Okay!" He looked at He Xi expectantly, "Then let me have a good taste of my wife's cooking!"

Lin Yu watched as He Xi walked briskly into the kitchen, a smile still on his face. Then, he noticed that Keisha was staring at him with an indescribable look, making him feel uneasy.

"What's wrong?" Lin Yu couldn't help but ask.

Keisha withdrew her gaze, reverting to her usual aloof demeanor, and stood up. "It's nothing. I have some things to take care of, so I'll be leaving now." Before she finished speaking, she decisively activated a micro-wormhole, and her figure instantly disappeared from the courtyard.

Lin Yu looked in the direction where Keisha disappeared, stroked his chin, and felt a little confused: "That's weird..." He shook his head, stopped thinking about it, found a comfortable recliner and curled up, "Let's find a place to lie down for a while and wait for dinner."

Not long after, He Xi came out carrying two dishes, her face showing a barely perceptible mix of anticipation and nervousness. They were sweet and sour pork ribs and braised pork belly. Judging from their glossy, reddish-brown color, they seemed…not bad?

"Honey, try it." He Xi sat down opposite Lin Yu, her hands folded on the table, her bright blue eyes gazing at him like a little girl waiting for praise.

"Okay." Lin Yu nodded with a smile, picked up his chopsticks, and first put a piece of sweet and sour pork rib into his mouth. The moment his teeth bit down, his chewing motion paused almost imperceptibly. This taste... the ratio of sweet and sour seemed a bit peculiar, with an indescribable... strangeness.

Unconvinced, he picked up another piece of braised pork. The meat was a good mix of lean and fat, and the texture was acceptable, but the rich, complex flavor—a blend of some unknown spice and a slightly burnt taste—almost made him lose control of his expression.

He Xi stared intently at his face. Seeing that he was only eating and not speaking, the light in her eyes dimmed slightly. She asked cautiously, "What's wrong? Is... the taste bad?"

Seeing the hint of disappointment and anticipation in He Xi's eyes, Lin Yu's heart softened instantly. He quickly composed himself, flashing a genuine and delighted smile, and nodded vigorously in affirmation:

"No! It's delicious! I really like it!" He said, picking up several more pieces and eating them heartily, demonstrating his "liking" with his actions.

Upon hearing this, He Xi's face instantly lit up with a bright smile, her eyes curving into beautiful crescent moons, all her nervousness vanishing: "Really? If it's delicious, eat more! The soup's ready too, I'll go get it right away!"

Watching her cheerful figure turn and run back to the kitchen, Lin Yu's smile froze slightly. He looked down at the two plates of dishes in front of him, their appearance and taste drastically mismatched, and then recalled Keisha's meaningful look and quick escape. A sudden clarity dawned on him, and he couldn't help but let out a helpless sigh:

"well……"

He finally understood why Keisha had run so fast. This wasn't just "something happened," it was clearly a premonition of a "disaster"!

"It seems... I'll have to find a way to avoid letting He Xi cook in the future." Lin Yu silently set an important criterion for his future quality of life.

But right now, seeing He Xi's happy expression, he could only grit his teeth and, upholding the belief that "if it's my wife who made it, I have to finish it even if I have tears in my eyes," he began to "happily" enjoy this dinner full of "love."

After barely finishing the meal, Lin Yu looked at He Xi, who was clearing away the dishes and was clearly in a very good mood, and said softly:

"Honey, I'm going out for a walk to digest my food."

He needed some time to soothe his battered taste buds and to think about how to elegantly resolve the future "diet" issue without discouraging He Xi.
