Chapter 1 Lukakul
Houston, Texas, USA.
In the afternoon, continuous gunfire filled a black suburban community.
This once ordinary residential area has now become a battlefield. Many of the original residents of this area, some of whom were well-informed, fled directly, while others who could not escape could only hide in their own basements.
The two sides involved in the firefight were the "Bloodfang Gang" and the "Fang Gang," both of which were split off from the "Fang Gang," a second-rate gang that had left a strong mark on Houston in the past.
Although the Dennis Gang was considered second-rate at the time, in Houston, even transnational criminal organizations had to give them some respect.
The two factions, already bitter enemies after the split, were now completely ignited today when the second-in-command of the Blood Fang Gang intercepted a large shipment from the Fang Gang and was killed on the spot.
Nearly a hundred gang members flooded into the community, using vehicles and houses as cover to launch a bloody brawl.
On the right side of the street, behind a pickup truck riddled with bullet holes.
"Fuck! What is Morris doing?"
Aiden Hawke jerked his head back, and several bullets grazed his scalp and hit the wall.
The gunfire erupting everywhere made his ears ring, but he ignored it and shouted to those around him:
"The right wing is about to be breached! Take men and go reinforce them! Now!"
After saying that, he leaned out again, and the gun went off. A gunman who had just peeked out fell to the ground.
"Understood!" The henchman next to him nodded, grabbed his submachine gun, called to a few men, and crouched down as he rushed into the alleyway on the right.
On the edge of the battlefield, a figure was scaling a wall and landing in the backyard of a house.
Rosen, wearing a graffiti mask, had no intention of joining the fight and went straight inside.
The living room is empty.
The bedroom is empty.
The kitchen is still empty.
Rosen frowned slightly. This was the third store he had visited, and he still hadn't found what he was looking for.
He pushed open the bathroom door, his gaze falling on a small white treasure chest lying quietly next to the toilet in the corner.
found it.
Rosen quickly stepped forward, squatted down, and placed his palm on the lid of the box.
A countdown timer popped up in my field of vision: 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...
pat.
The lid popped open, and a green light flashed out from the treasure chest.
[Item: Bloodfang Gang Pendant]
[Quality: Green]
[Capacity: 10]
[Value: 1 Kazakhstani kyats]
[Function: A simple identification marker; when worn, it allows one to disguise themselves as a member of the Bloodfang Gang.]
"Finally, I got a green item." Rosen's face showed a hint of joy. He then put the pendant into his system inventory and turned to leave.
Just as I grasped the doorknob, I suddenly heard hurried footsteps outside.
Rosen's eyes narrowed, and he quickly slipped behind the door.
Through the crack in the door, four burly men strode down the corridor. They were all black, with tattoos covering their arms, blood-red tooth pendants around their necks, and submachine guns in their hands, exuding a murderous aura.
They are the elite of the Bloodfang Gang, and they seem to be preparing to go to the right flank.
Rosen held his breath; he had no intention of getting involved in the fight between the two gangs. He was just a mouse who wanted to collect treasure chests.
Just as Rosen was about to wait for them to leave, his gaze was suddenly drawn to the burly man in the lead.
Because the other party was actually emitting a faint blue light, and a line of information appeared in front of him.
[Character: Lukaku]
[Identity: Third-in-command of the Bloodfang Gang]
[Level: Elite BOSS (First Kill Reward Target for New Players)]
[Note: New player rewards will always be purple or higher quality items.]
[Warning: Rewards will be removed if the kill is not achieved before the map ends.]
Seeing that the newbie rewards might contain orange or even red items, Rosen became restless. His expression was conflicted as he watched the four people walk through the corridor and run towards the front line of the firefight, eventually disappearing from sight.
Rosen leaned against the wall, gritted his teeth, and then a green light flashed in his hand, revealing a blood-red pendant.
Damn it, fortune favors the bold, I'll take the plunge!
This is the second map he's searched. He's opened more than a dozen treasure chests, but they're mostly filled with white and green items; he hasn't found a single blue one.
Now, a reward with a guaranteed purple rarity and a maximum of red rarity is placed in front of him. Even if there is only a 20% chance of success, let alone a slight risk, he would still take it!
He took off his graffiti mask, hung the Bloodfang Gang pendant around his neck, opened the door, and followed them.
Wandering through the narrow paths between the houses, following the direction of those people, he soon saw corpses lying everywhere—the main battlefield where the two gangs had merged.
Both sides relied on their defense zones and vehicles, occasionally peeking out and firing. This was a suburb, so even if many people died, it was relatively easy to control. When the police arrived, they would have time to destroy evidence, so they were really aiming to kill each other.
It would be much more inconvenient to catch a train in the city. Although the police in the United States tend to turn a blind eye to such things, if a major public security incident were to occur, they would be in serious trouble.
Lukakul and the others have joined the battle, and with the addition of these four, the Bloodfang Gang's firepower immediately suppressed the enemy.
Rosen walked past an abandoned car and then noticed that behind a broken wall, six Bloodfang gang members were firing under the cover of the wall.
Their location was quite close to Lukakul, and the gunfight there was extremely intense.
After thinking for a moment, Rosen made up his mind. As he ran, he pulled out a Glock 17 from his waist and fired three shots at the other side.
The sudden gunshot from behind didn't attract much attention in this battlefield filled with chocolates. Rosen then crouched down and ran to the far right of the broken wall.
Rosen's approach immediately caught the attention of a black man next to him. Before he could investigate further, gunshots rang out again from the opposite side.
"Fuck!"
He cursed under his breath, picked up his assault rifle, and began frantically pulling the trigger at the other side.
Suppressed by fire, the enemy was hesitant to show their faces, and Rosen seized the opportunity, poking his head out and firing a shot at one of the guys trying to ambush the burly black man.
"Bang!"
A scream came from the other side; someone was injured.
Rosen immediately ducked back, and almost simultaneously, a volley of bullets struck the spot where he had just peeked out, kicking up a cloud of dust.
He leaned against the wall, panting heavily, his heart pounding.
The burly black man had already pulled his head back. Just then, he saw the blood-red pendant around Rosen's neck, paused for a moment, then grinned and gave him a thumbs up:
"Hey bro, you're awesome! That was a perfect shot!"
Rosen wiped the dust off his face, spat on the ground, and grinned, revealing a set of white teeth.
"That's right! How could I be worthy of carrying guns alongside tough guys like you if I wasn't fierce? I saw you suppressing the enemy so much that they didn't even dare to show their heads, that's real skill!"
The burly Black man, Modo, beamed with delight and was about to pat Rosen on the shoulder to exchange names:
"Haha, my name is Mo Duo, and you..."
Before he could finish speaking, even more intense gunfire erupted from the end of the street.
Several stray bullets shattered the bricks above their heads, and the defensive line collapsed instantly. A Bloodfang gang member, his face covered in blood, charged from another defensive line, shouting hoarsely:
"Fuck! The Fang Gang's main force is here! Boss Lukakul has been shot! Retreat!!"

A hapless author's musings 1: In order to write a good gunfight story, I spent three days researching Glock 17 modification parts. If the police were to glance at my browsing history, they would definitely think I was an arms dealer lurking in the East Eighth District. In fact, I can't even afford a water gun.
