Marvel: I am Iron Man

Chapter 53 Mark 7

Tony flew back across the ocean carrying a huge cabinet of vibranium, but he didn't immediately take the contents home.

Although he had thoroughly scanned the cabinet with his armor and was certain there were no eavesdropping devices, tracking devices, or anything else that could be tracked, he still needed to be cautious.

In fact, he had already begun planning to build a more secluded base than the underground garage of his own mansion a long time ago. He would move some facilities and equipment to this new base and build a new laboratory, instead of staying under the mansion that bore his name.

The Backpot One armor he was wearing, along with the recently captured vibranium, were all placed in the new laboratory. The space here will be larger, and all facilities will be prioritized for armor and weapons development.

Tony chose the location in the mountains outside upstate New York.

The newly completed laboratory dome opened automatically, and the armored vehicles landed from the dome.

Tony placed the vibranium cabinet he had just brought back, walked onto the dismantling platform, and mechanical arms immediately extended from all sides, dismantling his armor plates and parts piece by piece and automatically storing them.

Currently, his armor still requires a dismantling platform for deployment and dismantling. However, if development proceeds smoothly, according to his vision, remote deployment and integrated suits will be possible starting with the Mark 7 armor.

The Mark 7 can transform into a flight capsule and be remotely and automatically donned onto the wearer, or it can open directly from the back like all the Iron Man armors in the later parts of the movie, allowing the wearer to enter from behind... That sounds a bit strange, but that's roughly the idea.

In that way, the time required to put on armor would be greatly reduced, there would be no need for an armor dismantling platform, and you wouldn't have to be at home to put it on, greatly improving portability and flexibility.

With the last piece of armor removed from his body, Tony stepped off the dismantling platform and eagerly examined the spoils he had just captured.

Upon opening the cabinet door, one could see tubes of icy blue liquid metal arranged from top to bottom, filling the entire cabinet to the brim.

He pulled out a small tube of vibranium, carefully held it up, and examined it under the light.

Tony remembered that in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ultron said that this tiny tube was worth billions of dollars.

Of course, this pricing is based on the lie that "vibranium no longer exists in the world," claiming that a single tube costs billions, but in reality, it has been a case of high price but no market for decades.

After all, scarcity drives up prices. If a large amount of vibranium were to flood the market, this inflated price would definitely collapse immediately.

"Alright, Lao Jia, we've finally gotten the ingredients."

Tony raised his hand and clapped twice, and all the lights in the lab turned on automatically.

"It's time to cook."

Jarvis thoughtfully played some background music in the lab. Tony took the vibranium tube to the workbench, humming a tune, and buried himself in his new research.

After spending only about a day studying it, Tony had to admit that, as a scientist, he was indeed attracted to this magical material called vibranium.

Just as a sculptor is drawn to uncut jade, vibranium is such a piece of jade in Tony's eyes at this moment.

Near-perfect natural hardness, energy absorption characteristics that protect the wearer... these are just the most basic things.

What's even more impressive is that vibranium seems to have excellent compatibility with any technology, as if this metal was born for technology.

The more Tony learned, the clearer it became that Wakanda could develop a world-leading technological system based solely on a single metal. It's no exaggeration to say that at least half of Wakanda's technological advancements are thanks to vibranium, while the other half belongs to the scientific pioneers throughout Wakanda's history.

It's no wonder that the Wakandas in the movie always have a sense of superiority when facing the outside world. Vibranium technology has clearly given them a very strong sense of national pride, a kind of pride in looking down on people from other countries as country bumpkins.

But the strangest thing is that, despite having such advanced technology, the Wakandas still have an almost obsessive fascination with the primitive fighting methods passed down from their ancestors—especially the spear.

The scenes from the movie "Black Panther" remain vivid in Tony's memory to this day.

In the movie, General Leo Koyer sits in his vibranium car, watching the bullets fired at him by smugglers across the street, and scoffs, "Using guns? How primitive."

Then she immediately leaned out of the car window and climbed out, braving the hail of bullets to reach the roof. She then used the most primitive method of throwing with her bare hands to hurl the vibranium spear like a harpoon, knocking over the car opposite her.

First, he said that other people's use of guns was primitive, and then he personally demonstrated how to throw a javelin with his bare hands... What kind of operation is this? Am I cursing myself?

Tony thought to himself that if they replaced the smugglers with Hawkeye, whose marksmanship was terrible and whose bodies were barely recognizable, they could probably fast-forward to General Okoye's funeral right away.

He even had a plan for what to inscribe on the general's tombstone: "Please do not stick your head out of the car window while driving, and do not climb onto the roof of the car."

Even the Wakanda government had to issue a statement to protect its reputation, claiming that the incident was purely accidental and that my country's vibranium individual protective technology is still hundreds of years ahead of the world... However, we still recommend that users abide by basic traffic regulations.

It's hilarious just thinking about it; it could probably make the list of the funniest ways to die in the MCU.

In just one day, Tony had finalized the main materials and proportions for the Mark 7 armor.

Tony fiddled with the floating 3D model of the armor: "Let's do one last check. Vibranium, titanium alloy, carbon fiber, fiberglass..."

Although he obtained enough vibranium to make the entire Mark 7 armor, from helmet to soles, entirely out of vibranium, Tony still didn't do it.

That design would certainly have maximized the Mark 7's defensive capabilities, but it would have also left the armor with a fatal flaw—sound waves.

Just as he used sound waves to destroy the Eye of Nile, others who know the weaknesses of vibranium can also use sound waves to deal with him.

Tony thinks this might be why, in the original movie, although Tony used vibranium when developing the Mark 45 armor, he still didn't choose to create a pure vibranium armor, but only used a lot of vibranium joints, vibranium components, and vibranium plating on the armor's outer shell.

Pure vibranium is powerful, but its weaknesses are too obvious. Rather than sacrificing a fatal flaw in pursuit of ultimate hardness, Tony would rather sacrifice some defensive capabilities for the stability of the armor.

So after studying and thinking it over, Tony felt that the design in the original movie was reasonable. He planned to follow the original approach, using some vibranium components and vibranium plating, but also retaining some of the original materials of the Iron Man armor.

This way, the armor can simultaneously possess the defensive capabilities and energy absorption properties of vibranium, and will not be countered by sonic weapons.

Of course, he now has a much larger supply of vibranium materials than Tony in the movies, so he can coat every suit of armor with vibranium and use a higher proportion of it than the original Mark 45.

"Okay, that's it." Tony finished the design. "Let's start assembling."

"Yes, sir."

Jarvis said.

"Mark 7 is expected to be completed within 24 hours."
