Marvel: I am Iron Man
Chapter 49 Stealth Raid
Ulysses Crow felt he had been incredibly unlucky these past two days.
Those persistent Wakandas have come back again, and this time it's different from before.
Klaue had encountered Wakandans before; after all, to do vibranium business, one had to get past these stubborn natives first. But in the past, Klaue had only dealt with low-ranking soldiers. This time, however, the person who approached him was a prince with super soldier enhancements and a vibranium suit, leading the royal family's strongest special guard, the "Dora Guard."
When this group stormed into the junkyard where he was hiding, Crow knew he was in deep trouble.
Prince Black Panther took the lead, charging forward from the front with the help of vibranium protection.
As the smugglers' firepower was drawn entirely to Black Panther, all the windows around the factory shattered simultaneously with a crash. Round, black spheres burst through the windows one after another.
It was a small sphere, roughly the size of a tennis ball, resembling some kind of drone. Its vibranium-coated, jet-black shell gleamed with a metallic sheen, clearly reflecting the images of the factory and the clashing gunfire.
The smugglers screamed and opened fire, but their ammunition was obviously useless against the vibranium drone.
Bullets occasionally exploded into sparks on the vibranium spheres, while the drones remained motionless, whistling as they fired beam weapons downwards from mid-air. Each beam sent a person flying.
Black Panther and Vibranium Ball led the charge, followed by Dora's Royal Guard breaking in from the flank.
One by one, bald black female warriors, wielding spears, charged into the fray with beast-like battle roars.
When they entered, everyone's attention had already been completely diverted, and no one noticed them at all. The vibranium spears easily tore through the flesh of the smugglers, and gunshots and screams echoed throughout the factory.
It was a complete one-sided rout. The vibranium dealers were utterly powerless against the elite Wakanda special forces led by Prince Black Panther himself; the outcome was never in doubt...
...That's how it should be.
If it weren't for a third party getting involved in tonight's mess.
Just as Crow's forces were completely overwhelmed and seemed powerless to resist, one of Dora's guards suddenly let out a scream. The black female warrior was sent flying, tumbling twice before crashing to the ground, unconscious.
Okoye was shocked. She was standing not far from her teammate but had no idea what hit her.
Her extensive combat experience and warrior's instincts immediately detected the danger, and she roared, "New enemy attack! Defensive formation!"
The well-trained Dora Guard immediately changed formation and began to try to close in.
But it doesn't seem to be very useful.
The energy beam tore through the air, a blinding flash passing through the dark factory. Another Dora warrior was caught off guard and struck, letting out a muffled groan as she was thrown into the air before crashing to the ground unconscious.
General Okoye's hair stood on end.
She had been keeping her eyes wide open and on high alert, so she clearly saw what was firing at them.
The instant the beam of light was unleashed, a faint ripple of energy seemed to appear in the darkness. A metallic phantom—very blurry and only fleeting, but she still saw it—flashed by, appearing to be some kind of black mechanical body, firing at them with some kind of weapon on the back of its hand.
The moment the beam of light was emitted, the thing quickly disappeared again behind the ripples, vanishing without a trace as if it had evaporated.
Some kind of stealth armor!
Okoye realized it immediately.
It was a suit of armor capable of complete stealth; only the energy fluctuations when the enemy fired their own weapon could reveal a blurry outline of it for a mere tenth of a second.
Okoye was shocked.
What happened to the idea that the world outside Wakanda was primitive? What happened to the idea that their technology was a hundred years behind ours?
Completely stealthy, full-coverage exoskeleton armor, and equipped with instantaneous energy weapons... Can this thing be called primitive?
The one who launched the attack from stealth was, of course, Tony, who was wearing the "Scapegoat Mark I" armor.
Tony arrived just in time to witness Black Panther fighting Klaue. His first thought was whether he could sneak in without lifting a finger, entering the factory, or firing a single shot, and quietly steal Klaue's hidden vibranium while the two sides were locked in combat.
Unfortunately, Jarvis rejected this idealistic idea.
Jarvis warned him, "If we go to retrieve vibranium, we'll definitely be discovered. The Wakanda are very good at tracking the radiation signature of vibranium. Armor can maintain cloaking, but vibranium can't."
Tony thought about it and agreed. There was no way he could take the vibranium out of the room unnoticed.
Klaue has a whole cabinet full of vibranium; if he wanted to take it all, it would be impossible for him to go unnoticed.
Jarvis further cautioned, "Also, if we let this opportunity slip by, and wait until the Wakanda recovers this vibranium, the difficulty of intercepting it from them will increase significantly..."
"Of course I know that," Tony interrupted Old Jia.
Therefore, it seems that defeating everyone present is the only way to achieve the goal of this trip.
Of course, when dealing with Black Panther and the Wakanda Royal Guard, Tony set the armor's output to "non-lethal power." This is a function Tony often uses in the original comics; the Iron Man armor is usually kept in this state when facing criminals who don't deserve to die.
Tony may have a more flexible moral compass compared to the original Iron Man. Sometimes, to achieve his goals, he doesn't mind breaking every law except murder (like the transvestite billionaire in Gotham next door), but that doesn't mean he would indiscriminately kill innocent people.
On the other hand, eliminating the Wakanda crown prince and his most elite special guards here would be far from a wise move.
It's one thing to steal a batch of vibranium from smugglers; Wakanda might be unhappy, but it's not enough to warrant a major conflict.
But if Black Panther, Okoye, and the others all perish here and none of them return, then it will be an irreconcilable conflict with Wakanda. It's entirely possible that the conflict could quickly escalate to a world war.
All Tony wanted was security. He wanted armor that would give him a sense of security, immense power, and a peaceful world where he could sleep soundly.
"Surrey, mark the enemy's location!" Black Panther shouted.
Shuri is his sister, the princess of Wakanda. Shuri is remotely controlling these vibranium spheres to provide fire support for Black Panther and his team.
At the same time, Shuri is also the most intelligent scientific genius in the entire country of Wakanda.
However, at this moment, even this genius princess was at a loss when faced with the current situation.
"I'm trying, bro!" Su Rui shouted into the communicator, "But this thing is like a ghost! Night vision, infrared imaging, energy signal positioning... I can't see anything about it!"
"Dude, didn't you tell me there's no such technology out there?!"
