Marvel: I am Iron Man

Chapter 33 Gamma Ascension!

If Tony were to rate all the comic book characters adapted into the MCU, Hulk would definitely be near the top of the list of those "miserably adapted from comic books".

Hulk's career in the MCU has been rather frustrating. He made a stunning appearance in Avengers 1, fighting his way through the Chitauri army as if it were nothing, and even knocking down an alien aircraft carrier with a single punch.

Back then, everyone thought that for the next ten years, Hulk should be a top-tier damage dealer. Who knew that what you thought was just the beginning was actually his peak? From then on, Hulk was repeatedly ganked by various directors and kicked from the MVP position to the kitchen, becoming a mere brute for eating.

The dark history of Avengers: Infinity War goes without saying. Thanos's army was pressing in, and the whole world was at war with Hulk. However, this guy, who should have been both the main tank and the main damage dealer, didn't even get a chance to appear and was directly banned by the director, and the reason given was that he was throwing a tantrum.

Regardless, in the early stages of the MCU, Hulk was undoubtedly the Avengers' primary damage dealer. Gamma rays also proved to be a technology with enormous potential.

This is also a treasure that Tony cannot ignore.

Gamma-ray related technologies can not only be applied to Iron Man, making his armor faster and more powerful, but in-depth research and understanding of this technology will also enable him to deal with various gamma-related crises more effectively in the future.

On Marvel Earth, there are quite a few dangers related to gamma, and there are indeed many gamma-mutated monsters like the Hulk.

Collecting gamma research data and deepening our understanding of this technology will also allow Tony to better build a relevant database and prepare corresponding countermeasures.

Otherwise, it will be too late to start thinking of solutions when an invincible gamma monster, impervious to bullets and blades, or a gamma crisis like today engulfs the world.

Rather than waiting until the ship leaks before patching the hole or the building catches fire before putting it out, Tony prefers to prevent the ship from leaking or the building from catching fire from the very beginning.

In the Marvel Universe, achieving this means he needs knowledge. Knowledge in any field, covering any potential threat; a vast amount of knowledge and a mature defense system would allow him to anticipate and address any threat.

He is also one of the very few people on Earth who have the resources and conditions to do this.

Because now, he is Tony Stark, he is Iron Man. He possesses the world's greatest wealth, the most cutting-edge technology, and the most outstanding intelligence.

The Mark VI armored vehicle was flying three thousand meters above the ground. Tony was wearing the armor, and in front of him, the HUD displayed a small map, similar to a game, showing the flight path and distance to the destination in real time.

"Armored radiation protection system is ready. We will penetrate the gamma shield in ten seconds," Jarvis said. "Countdown, ten...nine...eight..."

"...Three...two...one."

The moment Jarvis counted to "one," Iron Man's Mark VI armor plummeted into the slowly expanding green light shield like a shooting star.

Almost simultaneously, the speed brakes on Iron Man's shoulders and the spoilers on his back deployed. The thrusters on his hands and feet also pushed forward simultaneously, canceling out all the flight inertia in a very short moment.

The Iron Man armor slowed down instantly, then propelled itself through the flames, hovering high above the buildings below.

The AIM base at the center of the gamma radiation has been completely engulfed by the green light.

On the HUD screen in front of Tony, beams of light slowly swept across the entire base. Soon, blurry red dots appeared one after another on the base.

Jarvis said, "Strong vital signs were detected, and the heat source has been located."

Tony knew that the moving heat sources on the screen were probably the AIM warriors who had mutated under gamma radiation—they should all have turned into various gamma monsters by now.

Tony asked, "Is our gamma recoil countermeasure ready?"

"Of course, sir."

As Jarvis spoke, a complete perspective view of the Mark 6 was projected onto the HUD in front of Tony. The 3D image showed green energy being channeled from the reactor in his chest into the arc pulse cannons in his hands.

The Mark VI armor's eyes, which had originally shone with a pale white light, switched to a green glow.

"Very good." Tony took a deep breath. "Then let's go in."

...

...

Hank Grant was a proud AIM soldier... once was.

A few days ago, a gamma reactor at his AIM base went out of control.

As the green light enveloped him and his comrades, he watched as his fellow soldiers screamed in agony under the radiation, writhing on the ground, their fingers digging bloody trails into the earth, before dying in excruciating pain.

For a moment, Hank thought that would be his fate too; he genuinely believed it. But to his utter surprise, he was luckier than most of his colleagues.

He survived.

He had grown to nearly twice his original height, and his skin had turned a rock-like brown. His fingernails had transformed into sharp claws, and his teeth were as sharp as steel.

He turned into something like the Hulk.

Hank was unaware that the gamma radiation had not only altered his physique and muscles, but had also robbed him of his sanity as a human being.

That's why he felt an unprecedented sense of arrogance, believing himself to be the chosen one. That's why so many of his comrades died, while he survived and evolved into this stronger, more perfect form.

He evolved and became a being beyond humankind!

Of course, he wasn't the only one. Although most of the soldiers in the base died the moment they were exposed to radiation, a few survived and, like Hank, transformed into gamma monsters.

At first, Hank thought the reactor malfunction was an accident, but now he thinks it was a blessing from God.

God uses this method to select the superior humans who can receive the blessing of evolution, while eliminating those who are useless. Next, this blessing will spread throughout the Earth through the gamma reactor, eliminating the vast majority of the useless ones and leaving only the chosen ones like them to evolve.

Humanity will become a more perfect species; this is humanity's future, this is gamma ascension!

Hank excitedly admired his new body.

Look at those explosive muscles, the seemingly limitless power contained within that perfect physique.

He felt invincible!

boom--

Less than ten meters in front of Hank, the outer wall of the base was blown open.

A metallic figure, stepping on flames, slowly flew in through the smoke-filled gap.

"Um?"

Hank frowned as he looked at the gap, wondering which arrogant fool dared to trespass into their gamma domain.

There's more than just Hank as a monster here.

The moment the explosion occurred, the attention of the other gamma-mutated monsters nearby was also drawn to it.

They were all as strong as Hank, and they all shared the same ideas.

Then they saw it: a red and gold exterior, a steel body exuding modern industrial aesthetics.

What is this?

Was it a device sent by the organization to handle the reactor accident? Or a robot from S.H.I.E.L.D.?

It doesn't matter anymore.

Excitement surged up his spine again, and his blood rushed to Hank's head.

It was a destructive impulse, an impulse to unleash and flaunt his now limitless power.

Regardless of who is behind this machine, he wants to smash this steel creation to pieces to prove that their mutation is the direction of human evolution, and to prove how weak the so-called power of technology is in the face of them today.

Then Hank roared defiantly, baring his claws and fangs, and pounced like a hungry tiger.

The armored figure opposite him simply raised one arm with unhurried, almost casual movements.

The armor's five fingers were spread open, and the metal palm gleamed with a cold, suffocating white light.

In that split second of seeing the light in the other person's palm, Hank suddenly felt for no reason that rushing forward might be a foolish move.

His absolute confidence in his mutated power, and his ambition to rule the world as the chosen one, suddenly calmed down in the face of that cold, sharp white light.

It was as if some kind of instinct deep inside had sensed the threat of death.

call out.

The white light from the arc pulse cannon blasted out.

Hank's sprint came to an abrupt halt.

He froze on the spot, and all the other gamma monsters behind him also froze on the spot.

Hank slowly lowered his head and looked at his chest.

Then he saw his own heart brimming with the same elation as Kennedy's.

A transparent hole, running from the front of the chest to the back, with charred edges and hissing white smoke rising from it.
