Marvel: I am Iron Man

Chapter 19 is like a replay of yesterday.

Ivan Vanko sold his arc reactor blueprints.

Perhaps lacking confidence in taking revenge on Tony on his own, Ivan prepared a backup plan—a method that would allow him to continue to torment Tony even if he failed and died.

Furthermore, Tony thought that if he were to consider things from Ivan's perspective, he might have specifically chosen a hostile force that might have a grudge against Tony and would take action against him after obtaining the reactor. If that were the case, it would be even worse.

Tony immediately felt a sense of urgency again, as the forces he needed to deal with and the matters to be handled had increased even further.

We must find those guys who bought the design blueprints, erase their data, destroy their evidence, and cover our tracks... no, I mean, legally protect our intellectual property rights.

Even if it means digging three feet into the ground, we absolutely must find out the truth.

Tony made up his mind. Fortunately, as a world-class arms tycoon, Tony Stark was not just rich; the resources he could mobilize and the technological capabilities he possessed were unimaginable to ordinary people.

Through Ivan Vanko's transaction records, Tony quickly discovered that the buyer was a company called "Aolais Technology." However, as he continued to investigate the company, he soon found that it was just a shell company.

Of course, there's nothing surprising about it. It's an illegal transaction to begin with, and it's quite normal to use shell companies to conduct this kind of shady business.

Tony himself even has shell companies overseas to facilitate operations that he doesn't want to reveal his identity.

For an ordinary person, the trail might end here. But not for him; he's Tony Stark... even if not the original.

The investigation into Aolais Technology further revealed that this shell company had paid unusually high technical consulting fees to a laboratory called Cybernos.

Tony then seized upon the clues and continued investigating Cybernos Labs, discovering that its registered location was a virtual offshore location. However, Cybernos owned a cargo ship. Tony had Jarvis access the ship's sailing information and found that its route was unusually circuitous, circumventing international waters, and that it had repeatedly turned off its transponder.

After Jarvis drew up the route map, he quickly located a specific area in the Pacific Ocean.

Tony rubbed his hands together, feeling that he was very close to the truth. This process of unraveling the mystery and gradually closing in on his opponent filled him with a sense of anticipation.

"Jarvis, I remember we should have a satellite around there, right?" Tony said.

Jarvis said, "Yes, sir. Shall we call in a satellite?"

"Of course, why not?" Tony said casually. "After all, it's my satellite. Do I have to ask anyone for permission first?"

Another advantage of transmigrating into Stark's body is having your own private satellites... and more than one.

Jarvis: "Satellite images are being transmitted."

Soon, the satellite images were projected onto a 3D screen in Tony's lab.

"There is an island here."

Tony tapped the screen.

"Zoom in on the island."

Jarvis enlarged and restored the image, improving its clarity. From this restored image, Tony could clearly see that a base had been built on the island, a base that was clearly equipped with military weaponry.

In the center of the base, three letters were clearly written, like a business card.

AIM.

...

Steve Rogers had a dream.

In the dream, the war was not over.

Or perhaps it's more like what's happened so far has been a dream—he dreamt that he woke up to find the war over. People told him the war was won, he had been frozen in the glacier for decades, and now it was peacetime.

And then a one-eyed Black man jumped out and said, "I'm your superior..."

Sometimes he felt like this was all a dream, and when he woke up, he would still be in the trenches of World War II. Outside, the flames of war raged, gunfire echoed, and his comrades were waiting for Captain America to take up his shield, don his armor, and continue fighting the fascists.

Then he woke up again, realizing that waking up in the trench was actually a dream. He really had slept in the ice and ended up in the modern era, and a black man was indeed his new superior officer...

Here we go again, that one-eyed black guy has come with another mission.

However, this was actually his own request. After being dug out of the ice and resting for a while, he told Nick Fury that he wanted to help and wanted to go on a mission.

It's not that he's driven by patriotism and wants to contribute to world peace in the modern era; he's simply too busy to stay idle.

He is Captain America, a war hero documented in textbooks. But a so-called war hero is someone who serves the war effort.

Now that the war is over, he feels out of place in this peaceful world. If he doesn't find something to do, he even feels like he's lost himself.

That's why Nick Fury gave him this mission.

Not long after Steve got up, Nick Fury came to visit him in person.

"A terrorist organization?"

Steve ate his bread for breakfast while looking at the mission briefing Fury had brought.

Fury thoughtfully had a paper mission briefing prepared for him. Since cell phones probably didn't even exist in Captain America's time, the communication terminals commonly used by modern S.H.I.E.L.D. agents would likely be beyond the elderly man's grasp for the time being.

Fury said, "Yeah, a bunch of guys who call themselves 'AIM,' which stands for 'Advanced Idea Mechanics.'"

Steve took a sip of his cereal: "Sounds like a tech organization."

Fury said, "They certainly are."

Steve asked, "Then how is it related to terrorism?"

"Because they are dedicated to seeking profit and power through violence, and will stop at nothing to advance science," Fury said. "Chemical weapons, environmental destruction, human experimentation... not to mention the terrorism they have committed to obtain research resources and wealth."

"Got it, mad scientist. Looks like there's no shortage of these in any era," Steve said. "I thought you guys were telling me the world was at peace."

"There is peace, but it's relative," Fury said. "And maintaining this facade of peace will require effort..."

He paused, then emphasized his point.

"...a great deal of effort."

Steve remained silent, continuing to read the briefing, while asking, "So, the Pacific?"

"Yes, this is a precise address that S.H.I.E.L.D. has tracked down. It is located on an island in the Pacific Ocean and has now been confirmed as an AIM base."

Fury said.

"Although they are a research and development institution that prioritizes science, their combat personnel are also top-notch. Moreover, they are well-equipped with advanced weaponry and are extremely dangerous. That's why I want the most reliable captain in the world to lead them."

Fury looked up at Steve: "What do you say?"

Steve didn't say anything, but stood up, walked to the other end of the room, and gently lifted his shield.

"It feels like going back in time," he said softly.
