The escape continues.

The sound of rocks crashing echoed back and forth in the narrow passageway.

Large chunks of basalt, mixed with soil and volcanic ash, instantly sealed off the passage behind them completely.

Claire gripped Isabella's wrist tightly, using the shockwave from the collapsing earth and rocks to retreat rapidly into the depths of the tunnel.

Isabella's eyes remained fixed on the area buried by the falling rocks.

"Go! Don't let Barton die in vain!" Claire growled, forcefully pulling her forward.

Isabella turned her head stiffly and glanced at Claire.

She shook off Claire's grasp, tightened her grip on the ice crystal wand, and sped forward alone.

"This way!" Simon followed. "I sensed the rock structure over there; we should be able to find the exit if we go up."

The four of them ran wildly up the steep fork in the road.

Waves of heat surged from the ground, accompanied by roars from the orc warriors.

Duke Tarot's rage had clearly ignited the guards of the entire sacred mountain; thunderous footsteps pierced the rock walls, enveloping the area from all sides.

"They know where we are!" Simon's face turned grim. "At this speed, they'll catch up in ten minutes at most."

"Looks like it won't take ten minutes." Claire stopped in her tracks.

Suddenly, a corner of the passageway ahead collapsed, and dozens of orcs with dark gold skin jumped down one after another.

The leading orc centurion spotted the four men at a glance.

"Intruders! Here!" The centurion raised his blood-stained battle axe, the blade glowing with crimson battle aura.

"Kill them all!" the orcs roared as they charged forward.

The narrow passageway prevented them from deploying in formation, but if the four were held back even for a short while, they risked being surrounded by pursuers from behind.

"A swift and decisive victory!"

Claire stepped forward, and dozens of blue seeds shot out from his sleeve, landing on the ground and transforming into thick, dark black vines.

The steel-like vines lashed fiercely at the charging orcs, their barbs easily tearing through their hides and embedding themselves in their flesh.

"Get out of my way!" the orc centurion roared, swinging his battle axe to sever the two vines and using his fighting spirit to shake off the vines that were wrapping around him.

It leaped forward, its battle axe hurtling towards Claire's head with the force of splitting a mountain.

Claire remained unfazed and was about to unleash [Withering Poison] when a chilling gust of air suddenly swept past him from behind.

The temperature inside the scorching volcanic tunnel plummeted, and even the collapsed rocks and ash instantly froze into ice crystals.

clack clack...

A crisp, freezing sound rang out.

Before the orc centurion, leaping into the air, could even utter a cry of alarm, the extreme cold seeped into his body, freezing his blood, internal organs, and even his soul.

The ice sculpture, still radiating a blood-red aura of battle, crashed to the ground, shattering into a pile of steaming ice shards.

The remaining orc warriors seemed oblivious to their commander's tragic fate, and continued to charge forward, brandishing their weapons.

Immediately afterwards, they suddenly felt a mountain pressing down on them, their knees made a series of popping sounds, and their huge bodies fell forward uncontrollably, crashing onto the hard ice.

Rhodes also conjured a few fireballs and threw them at the orc kneeling on the ground.

Although he was still a mid-level apprentice, with the pure magic power brought by the affinity of amethyst elements, he could still easily blow up the orcs who had already been subdued.

The battle was resolved exceptionally quickly.

This was the first time the four of them had worked together, yet they displayed remarkable teamwork.

They exchanged a glance, then without pausing, continued their ascent through the shattered ice and bloody flesh.

Unexpectedly, she hadn't run far when Isabella stumbled and nearly fell.

In the previous battle, she unleashed her remaining magic power as if to vent her frustration. Her already depleted spiritual energy was now overwhelmed, and she quickly retreated.

Claire grabbed her arm and hoisted the girl onto her shoulder without a word.

"Don't stop, keep running!"

He took the remaining two doses of supplementary medicine and was no longer worried about exhaustion.

If we delay any longer, the side effects of the medication will gradually become apparent.

Fortunately, the orcs they encountered next were not very strong, and they were easily outmaneuvered.

"A rift valley... there should be a rift valley ahead!" Simon's voice was filled with ecstasy.

They arrived there quickly.

The faint light shone down from the crack hundreds of meters high, appearing incredibly sacred in the pitch-black underground world.

"Climb up!"

Dozens of vines broke through the soil, climbed up the rock wall, intertwined, and formed a huge vine network that stretched all the way to the crack at the top.

Rod used both his hands and feet to climb the vine net first.

Claire sent Isabella first, followed by Simon, while she stayed behind to cover the rear.

They hadn't climbed far when a chilling wolf howl suddenly echoed from the darkness beneath their feet.

Immediately afterwards, the torchlight illuminated the bottom of the rift, and a large number of Golden Beastmen pursuers arrived.

The leading orc centurion spotted the vines that were contracting upwards at a glance.

"They're climbing up! Fire arrows, shoot them all down!" it roared.

Whoosh whoosh!

Dozens of arrows, enveloped in crimson battle aura, shot down from below with a sharp whooshing sound.

However, they were blocked by a gray-green poisonous fog as soon as they took off.

The aura radiance on the arrow's surface quickly dimmed, and then the arrow body was corroded by spores, and the powerless debris fell to the ground.

The defeated orcs tried to climb the rock wall, but a strange, poisonous fog loomed overhead, obscuring their vision.

Meanwhile, the four of them had already climbed to the crevice.

Claire was the last to emerge from the crack, and the vines followed him, snuggling affectionately against his ankle before disappearing into the ground.

The poisonous fog below had begun to dissipate, but the furious roars of the orcs could still be faintly heard.

It's a success.

This is a barren volcanic hill.

Dark red lava flowed slowly through a nearby fissure. The sky was overcast, and grayish-white volcanic ash fell like snowflakes.

Simon lay on the ground, looking at the gray sky, when he suddenly covered his face and his shoulders began to tremble violently.

He didn't make a sound, but tears streamed down his face, leaving two clear streaks on his dusty skin.

Isabella silently walked to the side. She stared blankly at her empty hands, her eyes filled with confusion and pain.

Patton is dead, forever lost in the darkness of the underground. They couldn't even salvage a single trace of his remains or belongings.

There was silence for quite a while.

"It's not safe here yet. The orc army could catch up from the other exits at any time," Claire said. "The starship is to the northeast. We must get back as soon as possible and report the situation here."

Isabella gazed into the distance and slowly nodded. Simon had somehow appeared behind her as well.

The four of them, supporting each other, struggled through the swirling volcanic ash as they made their way towards the starship base.

Behind them, the volcano known as "Rage" was still spewing black smoke.
