Faerun: The arcane mage is still too imprisoned.
Chapter 18 Copying Scrolls
Lance returned to the villa late at night.
Sissa sat on the sofa in the living room, holding a book of poems she had bought at the market, but her gaze kept drifting toward the door.
Seeing Lance push the door open and enter, she immediately put down her book and stood up, her worry instantly turning into relief.
She stepped forward, her gaze habitually sweeping over Lance—his dark gray robe remained impeccable and undamaged.
Her long, silvery-white hair was neatly tied back, and she carried a faint scent of blood.
But deep within those sky-blue eyes, a lingering resentment remained, and her expression was cold, subtly revealing a bewitching beauty.
"Lord Lance..." Looking at Lance like this, Cielsa couldn't help but swallow, her heart skipped a beat for some reason, and she couldn't help but move closer.
"You...you smell so good..."
Lance raised an eyebrow and reached out to ruffle her hair. "What nonsense are you talking about? Go to sleep."
"You should get some rest too," Cielsa said softly, then followed Lance upstairs to the second floor.
The bedroom door closed gently behind me.
Without any lights on, moonlight streamed in through the window, spreading a silvery-white frosty carpet across the floor.
[Divine Guidance Technique!]
The moonlight shimmered on the two of them.
……
As dawn broke, Lance opened his eyes.
Cielsa was still fast asleep beside me, her long silver-gray hair spread out on the pillow, her breathing even.
Lance gently removed her arm from his waist and sat up, leaning against the headboard.
He closed his eyes, his consciousness sinking into the system panel in his mind.
The experience value column clearly displays: 1160/2000.
"Learn spells first." Lance thought to himself and opened the spell learning interface.
[Consuming 30 experience points, you have learned the level 0 spell – Dance of Light!]
[Consuming 30 experience points, you have learned the level 0 spell—Telecommunications!]
[Consuming 100 experience points, you have learned a first-level spell – Shield!]
The experience points column is fluctuating: 1000/2000.
"Now it's okay." Lance took a deep breath.
[Used 1000 experience points to level up to level 2!]
Lance could clearly feel that his body had become stronger, his five senses more acute, and his mind more focused.
A pale blue panel unfolded before my eyes, and line after line of gold text appeared:
Congratulations on reaching Level 2 Arcane Mage!
[Your attributes +1!]
You have acquired a new class feat: Arcane Echoes!
Your panel has been updated!
Lance immediately checked the detailed data:

"Intelligence 19, Adjustment Value 4 points, Recovers 4 Arcs per hour..." Lance calculated in his mind, "Adding the daily full recovery, if I were to fight warriors in the arena... I should be more than capable of taking on level seven or eight opponents."
"Not bad." He nodded in satisfaction. "Next, I should hurry up and grind experience to reach level 3 and get the second-tier spells. The gap between second-tier and first-tier spells is still too big."
"Lord Lance..."
A lazy voice came from beside me.
Cielsa had woken up at some point and was looking at him sideways, her eyes filled with the hazy light of waking and a mischievous smile.
She nimbly burrowed under the covers, moving like a cat.
"Hiss..." Lance gasped.
……
The two didn't go downstairs for breakfast until the sun was high in the sky.
Cielsa hummed an off-key tune while frying eggs, while Lance sat at the table, planning his day's schedule.
After the meal, Lance set up a simple copying area in his study on the second floor.
The original items on the large oak table were cleared out, cushions were laid out, and a stack of enchanted parchment, griffin quills, and deep-sea squid ink were neatly arranged.
He first picked up a piece of parchment and laid it flat in the center of the table.
"Let's start with the simplest one." Lance closed his eyes, his consciousness sinking into the spell model library.
He chose [Feather Fall] – this spell model is one of the simplest first-level spells, perfect for practice.
The process of a sorcerer copying scrolls is essentially the process of solidifying a complete spell model onto a specially made carrier.
This requires extremely high concentration and is very mentally taxing.
It typically takes an ordinary mage eight hours of uninterrupted work to copy a single scroll of a spell.
However, arcane mages possess a unique class trait—they can consume additional arc points to accelerate this process.
One arc can reduce the time by one hour.
It can be compressed to complete one roll in as little as one hour.
Lance picked up the griffin quill and lightly dipped the tip into the deep-sea squid ink.
The ink contained trace amounts of magical crystals, which shimmered with a dark purple luster under the light.
The moment the pen touched the parchment,
"Consumes 8 arcs." Lance thought to himself.
Copying a spell scroll of the first level requires 1 arc point, and with maximum acceleration, it consumes a total of 8 arc points.
What used to be an eight-hour job has been compressed into one hour. The number of arc points has been reduced from 15 to 7, and 4 points will be automatically restored every hour.
Once this scroll is complete, the arc can return to 11 o'clock.
He was completely focused.
The only sounds in the study were the scratching of the pen tip across parchment and Lance's steady breathing.
An hour later, on the parchment, glowing runes connected to form intricate geometric shapes, slowly shimmering across the paper.
The entire scroll emanates a stable magical aura; simply tearing it open or reciting the trigger word will instantly release the sealed power within.
"It's done." Lance breathed a sigh of relief, carefully rolled up the scroll, tied it with silk thread, and put it into his interdimensional pocket.
"It is indeed much more efficient than that of a regular mage." Lance stretched his stiff neck and unfolded the second parchment.
This time, he chose to "oil his feet".
Another hour later, the second roll was completed.
The third one, [Invisibility].
Time flew by as I focused. I had a quick lunch, rested briefly, and then continued in the afternoon.
The fourth card is [Mage Armor], and the fifth card is [Greasy Spell].
After working for five consecutive hours, mental fatigue began to set in. Lance put down his pen and rubbed his temples.
"Lord Lance, please take a rest." Cielsa stood at the doorway at some point, holding a cup of floral tea.
Lance took the teacup; the warm liquid carried a faint floral fragrance.
He took a sip and felt his tense nerves relax a bit.
"That's fine, it'll change my mood."
He put down his teacup and looked at Cielsa.
The girl was wearing a simple light green silk dress today, with her long silver-gray hair loosely tied back, and a few strands falling beside her cheeks.
Cielsa blinked, as if she understood something, and a faint blush rose on her face.
……
After resting, Lance sat back down at his desk, feeling much better.
The sixth and seventh pictures are "Invisibility" and "Greedy Feet".
By evening, the seven one-ring spell scrolls were neatly arranged in the dimensional pocket's designated area.
"Celsa," Lance called downstairs.
Light footsteps approached quickly. Cielsa pushed open the door and entered, her hair still slightly disheveled: "Lord Lance?"
Lance took three scrolls out of his dimensional pocket and handed them to her: "These are the scrolls for [Invisibility], [Mage Armor], and [Grease Your Feet]. Tear them open and use them when you're in danger."
Use it when you need to; don't be stingy.
Cielsa was stunned. She stared at the three scrolls—the parchment was rolled up neatly, and the seals were tied with different colored silk threads to distinguish them.
