Demigod Mage in America
Chapter 6 I prefer to be direct
Ryan simply wanted to see how the policewoman would react, but to his surprise, she ran away without looking back.
Sure enough, even a policewoman is still just a girl at heart.
"Raine? Raine! Are you still there?"
Because of her previous ordeal, the policewoman can only hope that the mysterious Stand user, Ryan, can help her.
The ghost seemed to have grown tired of chasing him; it stopped, its expression becoming increasingly ferocious.
As Catherine circled around to the statue for the third time, the previously motionless statue weapon suddenly fell. If the sharp blade had struck, the policewoman would likely have been killed.
However, without any orders from Renn, the servant who had been standing at the gate suddenly moved and stopped the falling knife in mid-air, protecting Catherine below.
This scene convinced Catherine that Ryan was indeed there.
"Raine, I knew you were here, right? Stop joking, okay?"
Her voice trembled slightly. She had encountered situations where she had fought against armed criminals before, but those were completely different from what was happening now; they were not even in the same sense.
As she spoke, she noticed Raine standing next to the statue, her face lit up with joy, and she quickly ran over.
In Catherine's opinion, Ryan must be confident to make a bet.
"Raine, stop messing around! Use your invincible Platinum Star to think of a solution!"
The ghost lunged forward, but was blocked by a servant wielding the Green Dragon Crescent Blade. However, that was the end of the stalemate.
Other mages typically use their stealth servants as menial tasks, such as serving tea and water, sweeping the floor, and folding blankets. Only Raine went so far as to develop stealth servants into combat units.
"It can already influence reality; this belongs to the second tier of evil spirits. I wonder if it's considered powerful in this world."
His only worry was that a shark or killer whale might suddenly appear out of the sea.
As for modern weapons and the like, they were not even worth his attention.
Since magic also exists in this world, it means that a supernatural system similar to that of his world may emerge.
Before you become strong, it's best to play it safe and develop your strength cautiously for a while.
Of course, it's not that despicable; at least the ghost in front of us isn't worth it.
After watching for a while, Raine finally lost his patience. He had been waiting for the evil spirit to show new abilities, but nothing came of it. It was just a wrestling match and the use of telekinesis-like abilities to control objects to crash into the servants.
The landlord will be back as soon as it's light. He doesn't have much free time, so let's kick him out first and deal with it later.
He leaned against the bronze statue of Guan Yu, glancing towards the battlefield with his lips slightly parted.
"roll."
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an indifferent disdain for everything, as if he were looking down at ants at his feet.
As soon as the last note faded, the twisted, wailing ghost abruptly stopped moving.
Immediately, a powerful light burst forth from his body. It was energy from the same source as the sun, a power that even a priest could only achieve with the help of divine intervention.
However, he is too weak now, so the effect is similar to scalding someone with boiling water; it cannot kill him, but can only drive him away.
Drive away the spirits of the dead—repel them!
The ghost's soul trembled constantly, gathering and dispersing, not out of fear, but because it was affected by an irresistible force.
With a soft "poof," the ghost didn't even have time to scream before it turned into a wisp of green smoke and vanished completely.
Before becoming a mage, he was a follower of the Goddess of Death, a priest who controlled the energy of death, and his daily task was to hold funerals for others.
In the realm of the Goddess of Death, there is a concept of rest, so his task is simple: he can become stronger by burying people—or rather, by holding funerals.
Through this job, 16-year-old Raine became a death bishop.
However, as his magical talent was later discovered, he switched from the Church of Death to the Church of Arcane Magic.
There's nothing wrong with burying the dead, but magic is far more appealing to him.
Ryan snapped his fingers, illuminating the dark shop with a faint light that gradually grew brighter.
Light spell!
A bright sphere floated in the center of the hall, its light far exceeding that of the original electric lights.
Ryan looked around. It was a distinctly American retro wooden building, mainly constructed of wood, with a central solid wood staircase separating the first and second floors.
It's described as a two-story building, but it's more like a separate, independent loft. There's a room that looks like a bedroom or something similar.
From the bloodstains on the ground but the exquisite craftsmanship of the stall and the beautiful decorations on the wall, it's clear that its former owner had really wanted to make a living from it, but unfortunately, an accident happened.
There's also the world-famous painting on the wall, "Napoleon Crossing the Alps."
It's definitely a replica. After all, it's impossible for me to have the same replica as the Louvre. However, judging from the workmanship, this replica is probably not cheap either.
"Wow……"
Catherine was shocked by what she saw. The shop was located in East Harlem, a predominantly Latino working-class area, and it was quite unexpected to find such a nicely decorated antique shop there.
Renn surveyed the mess before him, shook his head, and decided to leave it for tomorrow.
As for the ghost, he had only banished it, not completely annihilated it. Once the ghost recovered, Raine decided to ask him about what had happened, as it might be another business opportunity.
"Was that... a ghost?"
Catherine hesitated, because today's events had been too shocking to her values.
"Superpowers" and "ghosts" that were once only seen in games, comics, and movies have appeared one after another.
"Yes, that's a ghost. You can also call it a spirit or a ghost."
"Someone like him... do I have a way to deal with him?"
She bit her lip lightly, her expression uneasy; clearly, the policewoman was frightened.
Ryan turned and glanced at her.
"If you encounter them, head towards crowds or bright light; those things hate them. As for dealing with them, I suggest you give up on that idea."
Ghosts are indeed an unsolvable problem for ordinary people; even Renn isn't confident he can deal with them.
He either banishes ghosts or kills them outright; you can't even collect a few ghosts to guard your house.
Time always flies when you're busy.
Before we knew it, it was already broad daylight.
When the plump landlady pushed open the antique shop door with her trembling hands, she saw Catherine sleeping on the steps and Ryan sitting on a wooden sofa with a missing leg.
Good morning, ma'am.
He slowly stood up, his expression gentle, and said politely.
"Looks like I won this bet."
Of course, this warmth was only in his own perception; in the landlady's eyes, Ryan's expression was simply awful.
Damn Qingqiong!
However, as a true member of the American flag, she didn't utter any insults, but simply spoke with a stern face.
"What bet? You've illegally trespassed into my shop..."
Before he could finish speaking, he had to shut his mouth.
Because a scene suddenly flashed through her mind, exactly what she had said yesterday.
"You have two choices: do it yourself, or I'll let you do it."
Ryan clasped his hands together and placed them on his raised knees, his eyes full of amusement.
He has always been a straightforward person.
He doesn't need to use forces beyond reality to obtain what he merely enjoys, nor does he allow anyone to act recklessly in front of him.
In the past, when Renn wanted something, he would never ask others whether he wanted it or not.
Right now, he's just tired of that kind of life and wants to find a different experience.
"What did you do to me! I'm calling the police! I'm going to..."
Before the landlord could finish speaking, his eyes began to glaze over, and his legs started to tremble.
Ryan's fingertips traced the armrest of the sofa, his face expressionless.
Fear, along with the hallucinations, was deeply implanted in her mind.
