The Ancestral Legacy Begins in the Wild West

Chapter 23 The Blue Agate Medicine Raid

This horse racing company is considered a gray industry, so its internal security must be quite extensive. Otherwise, Zheng Kui wouldn't have discussed the plan with him beforehand.

However, Zheng Kui was not a particularly law-abiding person.

Before he went in, his brother Zheng had already reminded him: "I trust my judgment, so I trust you. If the situation changes, we'll adapt accordingly."

Then Zhang Chang'an had a sudden thought: "Brother Zheng Kui has already infiltrated quite deeply, so I'll have to figure it out myself."

He glanced around briefly, using his sharp eagle eyes to confirm that there were no approaching tourists or security guards patrolling the area, before immediately turning and heading towards the row of public toilets at the back.

After arriving at the back of the public restroom, Zhang Chang'an decisively reached up and climbed over.

"Crack..." The public toilet made of broken wooden planks immediately swayed slightly, but Zhang Chang'an naturally stepped onto the roof with perfect stability.

"Fuck! Which bastard couldn't afford a hotel room and called a prostitute here? Why is there such a loud noise while you're taking a dump? My foot stepped into the hole! Don't run away, wait for me to pull up my pants! I'm going to make you eat my boots."

Hearing the sounds coming from the toilet, Zhang Chang'an silently condemned himself.

However, he had no intention of lingering. As soon as he stood firm on the roof, he kicked off with both legs and jumped out.

"Whoosh!" Zhang Chang'an heard the wind whistling past his ears, and then his incredibly strong physical abilities were immediately revealed.

He leaped four or five meters, and decisively stretched out his hands, grabbing directly onto the carved protrusion on the company's exterior wall, which was only a few centimeters thick. His hands were level with the second-floor window.

He made very little noise while doing these things, and because of this, when he slowly moved his body and peeked inside, it was clearly still extremely quiet.

Apart from this window, all the other windows in the room had their curtains drawn, making the room naturally dark.

Even though it was a cloudy day and the light from this window was barely enough, Zhang Chang'an's special visual abilities were more than sufficient for him to see the scene inside the room clearly.

This was a rather lavishly decorated room, seemingly a meeting room or similar space belonging to this horse racing company. Five or six foreign men in their twenties or thirties were sprawled haphazardly among the sofas by the window.

Zhang Chang'an's gaze shifted, and he immediately found his target.

"As expected... as expected, this is the one. I can't stand any more panaceas anymore. This is the only thing that's strong enough." The speaker had dark brown hair, sunken eyes, and a terrible expression. He was sitting near the inside of the house.

He was the youngest, with a high nose bridge and messy hair, but his finely woven coat perfectly matched the description in the intelligence report.

Zhang Chang'an was basically certain that he was Thomas Howard, but he did not plan to rush in immediately.

The reason is simple: besides the faint light coming in through the window, there was clearly another source of light in the room.

On the low table in front of them were many bottles and jars, including several strange-looking syringes. Most of these items contained some residual liquid.

It was these liquids that were constantly emitting a faint, eerie blue glow.

"No way..." Zhang Chang'an had only ever seen such a light on one other thing before.

"If blue agate is such a good thing, why do they only use it for those stupid weapons and machines?" Thomas said weakly in perfect English.

At the window next to Zhang Chang'an, the golden retriever who was slumped there immediately replied: "It's simple, because they're too stupid."

The Jean-Glaucon family handled this business, but after witnessing people die after working with blue agate, they never dared to touch it again.

He raised his head as he spoke, revealing himself to be a middle-aged man around 40 years old.

"But we are different. We are intelligent people, Mr. Howard. Blood Sand Company mainly operates in the gambling industry, but we have great ambitions in the blue agate business and are just waiting for nobles like you to help us get started..."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Chang'an frowned immediately: "I was wondering where horse racing comes from that has such a strong allure that it can lure people away from opium dens."

The panacea Thomas referred to was what some Londoners called opium.

Now it seems that he didn't quit this drug at all; it's just that the people in front of him got him hooked on something even more potent.

"Blood Sands...a London gang outside the Jean-Glaucon family?" Zhang Chang'an pondered this, when he suddenly heard a noise coming from inside the house.

"Knock knock knock".

The knocking startled the people inside.

Several of them remained in a dazed state, their expressions blank. The blond-haired guy sitting by the window, however, was very alert and immediately shouted, "What's wrong!"

A voice came from outside the door: "Sir, a guest has been wanting to come upstairs. He says he has an appointment."

The blond-haired man's face changed drastically, and he sat up abruptly: "We're doomed!"

The people around him were startled, but perhaps because the effects of the drug hadn't worn off, no one really reacted much.

But then the blond-haired middle-aged man put on his overcoat and suddenly slapped one of his henchmen across the face: "Slap!"

"Stop lying down. I already canceled my appointment this afternoon. Anyone coming at this hour is either a cop or looking for trouble. Hurry up and get ready, let's go..."

Before he could finish saying "go," the light coming in through the window was suddenly blocked, and the window frame and glass behind him began to deform.

"Crack...crack!" Zhang Chang'an shifted his body and climbed onto the top of the window. He then kicked out with his boots, shattering the window completely.

Large shards of glass, along with some wood chips, were violently thrown into the room. The curtains were turned by the sudden gust of air, and Zhang Chang'an fell into the room as well.

The blond-haired middle-aged man, along with the others who were completely awakened by the commotion, looked towards the window in terror.

But the flying glass shards quickly obscured their view.

Taking advantage of the opening, Zhang Chang'an, after letting go and rushing into the house, decisively threw a punch at the blond middle-aged man standing at the window.

"Bang!"

"Crash..." As large shards of glass hit the ground, Zhang Chang'an tackled the middle-aged man onto the table.

"Ah!" The bottles, jars, and syringes below shattered instantly, and the sudden, sharp pain on his face made the blond middle-aged man's features contort in agony.

"Hoo..." Zhang Chang'an landed steadily on the man with his strong lower body, and then immediately looked around.

The people inside the room were indeed thrown into a panic by this sudden change.

However, perhaps because the effects of the drug clouded their fear, their expressions quickly turned fierce.

"Ah!!" The four or five people around immediately reached inside the coat.

In the blink of an eye, the room was filled with a cold, gleaming light.
