The Alchemist's Guide to Flesh and Blood Ascension
Chapter 25 The Wind Is Hot, Time to Run
Following the underground passage, at the end was a small teleportation array—but this was enough to save Yunevo half the journey.
Large-scale magic source teleportation arrays are undoubtedly slow to start and make a lot of noise... They are not needed except for occasional battles.
"So stingy... I even have to spend a magic crystal to activate the portal?"
Yunefu muttered a complaint as he swept away the dust from the array's core and inserted a magic crystal.
……
A wave of dizziness, like after a spatial jump, washed over him. Yunevo felt the world spinning around him, and his deathly pale face caused Iseria a moment of worry.
The distant flames of Hart City were still faintly visible, and the alchemist thus completely left the "starter village".
As the saying goes, some are happy while others are sad—this wave of sadness will shorten Uriel's life by at least three years... ten, thirty years!
Yunevo suppressed his smile and turned to look at the boundless plain, where a new moon, accompanied by a host of stars, hung in the night sky.
"This sky is so clean..." Iseria stopped in her tracks, her eyes reflecting the starry sky.
In those false memories, all she could see was a blue sky with nothing in it, and a night shimmering with golden light.
"This is also one of the 'realities' you've always wanted to see. Even though the curtain is dark, there are always stars shining brightly."
"Black? But I feel..." Iseria reached out to grab a star, "I feel very safe."
"We may still have some time to catch up," Yunefu said, taking out his Magic Source Compass and quickly determining the direction, "to avoid any unforeseen complications."
"Well, things might change over time?"
"I had a lot of dreams last night and couldn't sleep well... so I got scared," Yunevo nodded, half-squatting down. "Come on up."
"Is that so?" Iseria blinked, gently wrapping her arms around Yunevo's neck and pressing her against his back.
"The sand and dust are blinding, so try to bury your head as low as possible..."
[Swift Speed has been activated]
腾!
Soil and rocks flew everywhere on the shallow ground, leaving only streaks of grass clippings uprooted by the strong wind!
A fierce gust of wind whistled past her ears, and Iseria gasped, instinctively clutching Yunevo's neck.
The presence of the [Oak Skin] prevented Yunevo from getting dust in his eyes, allowing him to continue his journey along the road...
The oncoming wind pressure scattered, seemingly avoiding the girl behind him.
"This is fun...so much fun! Faster!"
Iseria slightly raised her head, revealing her cautious eyes beneath her wispy bangs, and chuckled softly with a clear, bell-like voice.
The unexpected force nearly caused Yonivo to stumble and fall.
It was the "wind" coming from behind, or perhaps it was the free "ether" propelling them forward at Iseria's command.
The speeding figure swept past the carrion birds circling in the sky and scattered a group of wolves gathered in the wasteland.
Across the continent, city-states are far apart, mostly separated by various terrains.
Wilderness, desert, snow-capped mountains—and even volcanoes poised to erupt.
Monsters have evolved into various forms due to different terrains, and of course, all races are similar...
"Yonev, what do you think dwarves would be like?"
Iseria's voice brushed past Yunevo's ear; an abandoned dwarven mine had just caught the girl's attention.
"I don't know... but there's a legend about it."
"What legend? I want to hear it!"
Yunefu smiled and, while maintaining his [Swift Wind Rush], softly told a dwarf joke.
"The dwarves were obsessed with smelting and forging, but... their good fortune didn't last long. A rather warlike and tall race invaded them..."
"Did they fight back fiercely and ultimately return in triumph?"
"No, the various traps they set were easily bypassed by others..."
"Hey—then they're going to be…"
"No, that race doesn't kill the old and young, so the eldest made a decision: they disassembled the wheels of the siege engine and placed them upright, so that those shorter than it could survive."
"So, what's next? Is that why dwarves are becoming so rare?"
"No... because the dwarves are generally shorter than that wheel, which is why they survived."
"The reason why dwarves are so rare may be that the recorders have forgotten to bow their heads."
"Pfft... What is all this nonsense?!" Iseria couldn't help but laugh.
"The legendary dwarf joke," Yunevo shrugged.
……
As the morning star began to lighten, the two had been traveling for several hours.
Yune stopped at the foot of a sheltered hillside. While the [Super Regeneration] was powerful, he didn't want to develop "cirrhosis" so soon.
"Eat something and rest for a bit," Yunefu said, taking out some dry food and water from his simple spatial storage bag and handing them to Iseria.
Iseria took the cup, first taking a small sip of water, then imitating Yunevo, she took a bite of the hard jerky.
"Ugh!"
"Actually, this thing is eaten by tearing it apart..." Yunevo joked without any sympathy, then tore off and chewed a piece of dried meat that had been softened by saliva in his mouth.
"Then...what about this?" Iseria pouted, picking up a dark, chunky object curiously. "Is this also eaten by tearing it apart?"
"No, that's for hammering nails," Yonivo took the hardened black bread from her hand and stuffed it back into his storage bag.
"Huh? Isn't it...isn't it food?"
"This stuff made from wood chips and dough... there's no need to eat it for now."
Iseria nodded, then stared intently at Yunevo's calves.
"You seem... acting strange, especially when you were carrying me on your back just now."
Yonivore raised an eyebrow. "What's so strange about it?"
Iseria poked her fingertip, pondering.
"It's like a gust of wind pushing you along, or dancing around your legs."
She can actually see the flow of the demonic source directly... without using [Spiritual Vision]?
"So what do you see?" Yune held a flame in his fingertips.
"Hmm...like a bunch of little guys huddled together."
Iseria tilted her head, and suddenly her eyes lit up.
"Would you like to have more of them? I can help!"
Before Yonivore could react, she stretched out her slender hand and touched Yonivore's fingertips together.
Without any incantation or runes, the source of fire demon seemed to arrive uninvited... converging towards the fingertips of the two who were touching!
The tiny flame had grown into a fireball the size of a fist!
Gazing at the fireball radiating intense heat before him, Yunefu repeatedly severed his connection with the source of the demonic energy.
Iseria awaited his praise, her eyes filled with anticipation.
"Iseria..."
Yunevo's voice was somewhat solemn as he gently patted the girl's head. "You must learn to control these abilities..."
The girl first rubbed her hand against his palm, then asked curiously, "Why?"
"Listen to me..." Yunefu said helplessly, "I'll teach you how to control the magic source step by step..."
"Okay, actually I really want to help..."
Yunevo patted Iselia's head.
"Well then, thank you in advance for your kindness, Goddess."
"Then... teacher?" Iseria's eyes sparkled as she tentatively called out.
"Just call me Yonivore."
As the horizon gradually turned white, the outline of Stamok, the city of a thousand towers, came into view.
His "main storyline" was just beginning to emerge.
