The Alchemist's Guide to Flesh and Blood Ascension
Chapter 117 The Free Pharmacy
When the "bell" was struck again, Yonivore was standing on a "road" at the intersection of the three parties—actually, it was a relatively large open space supported by several huge pipes.
But this is also a rare transportation hub for "Root". The ratmen crawl out of the pipes in the east, the alchemists climb up in the "elevator" in the west, and the frogmen can swim upstream along a "water channel".
This is indeed the street with the highest foot traffic, and it's exactly the place that Ionevo has set his sights on—the place where his business will take root.
The black-robed alchemist brought over a few scrap iron plates and banged them together to make a square counter. He then placed some bottles and jars on the counter and built a makeshift "roof" over his head using a waterproof tarpaulin.
Place a few unwanted gears around it, and put together a sign written by Iseria herself—Heisenberg Pharmacy, Root Branch.
The news spread incredibly fast thanks to the cunning rats. The first to arrive was Moke, the leader of the remnant alchemist faction.
He didn't say anything polite, just stared at the medicine bottles, muttering to himself, "To be able to clean discarded light bulbs so well..."
The label on the medicine bottle was made from scraps cut from an old manuscript, with fonts of varying sizes, making it look somewhat bizarre.
"Hemostatic, fever reducer, detoxifier..." Moke leaned closer and read out the names on the labels one by one. "We...we underestimated you a bit."
Immediately afterwards, he pulled out two deeply creased recipe sheets from his pocket—"semi-finished products" obtained by the remnants of the alchemy remnants through cycles of experimentation and failure.
Yonivore tapped the table, pulled out a charcoal pencil, and asked, "What should we change? Product purity, reaction speed, or everything?"
"If possible..." Moke's voice sounded somewhat awkward.
Then he watched as the black-robed alchemist's right hand, which had been writing and drawing, danced "afterimages" across the two recipes.
"Do you...do you know how long we've been researching this?"
Yonivo did not answer, but instead pushed the order back and gave him two bottles of medicine as a bonus.
Moke's lips twitched. He carefully put the prescription and the medicine into his pocket, said goodbye to the man, and left.
"Brother Yunevo...you're not taking any money?" Old Six crawled out of the pipe, holding a nut the size of half his head and munching on it.
"Yes, he doesn't intend to take any money at all," the black-robed alchemist turned to look at the short, fat ratman.
"Oh dear... you're not saying you're not charging a penny," the short, fat rat-man hopped around a couple of times, thought for a moment, "you're making a mess of things, like the mess of Zellharan!"
Yonivore chuckled and shook his finger. "Favors aren't something that can be put on a price tag."
Just like the deal with "Mok" – the buyer didn't ask about the price, and the seller didn't mention it either.
The sixth brother blinked, said nothing more, and simply took out a handful of what looked like freshly roasted dried nuts from his pocket, neatly arranged them on the counter, and hopped away.
"Hmm... Good morning, Yunevo..." Iseria stretched and walked out of a pipe, then sat down on a chair made from a broken escalator. "You go and rest, I'll take over here."
The black-robed alchemist nodded and shook the communication crystal in his hand: "If there's anything you can't handle... just say it. Don't be afraid to bother me."
The pale-haired girl responded and, after sending away Yonivo, who hadn't slept all day, she started braiding her hair to pass the time.
Splash...
The one who came was a rat-man who called himself "Lin". He was carrying a semi-transparent jar containing two dried, rotten fish and a shiny glass ball.
"Boss lady... I want a bottle of antidote," it said, stretching its head to examine the "colored water" it had never seen before.
Upon hearing this, Iseria lined up several bottles of purple potions and carefully introduced them: "This is for biological poisons, this is for chemical poisons... Which one do you want?"
Lin blinked, seemingly unable to handle the onslaught of so much unknown knowledge, and froze on the spot.
"Ah, I highly recommend this antidote for chemical poisoning!" said the fair-haired girl. "The 'root' is so heavily polluted, like smog or something..."
"Then I'll take one of those antidotes," Lin sniffed, reluctantly placing the glass ball on the counter. "Human, you must take good care of Lin's treasure..."
The rat-man, wearing an iron crown and leaning on a cane, walked away carrying a potion, turning back every few steps.
Then another frogman appeared, carrying a baby frog...
The cub was purple all over, its cheeks were bulging weakly, and its belly was so swollen it looked like it was about to burst.
Its family members were trembling and unable to utter a single word.
Iseria first lifted the damp, tattered cloth covering the cub, then gasped in shock at the long, thin, blackened, festering wound, covering her mouth. "This... was it scratched by those fragments during training in the 'Great Swamp'?"
The giant frogman nodded, staring intently at the child in his arms, and finally spoke: "Is there any hope?"
The pale-haired girl frowned, but following Yunevo's previous instructions, she took out a bottle containing a murky liquid, then took out a strip of cloth so white it didn't belong to "Root," soaked it in the medicine, and applied it to the cub's wound.
"Two hours... if it survives, it will live," Iseria said softly.
The giant frogman stood still, let out a soft "croak," buried his head, stared at the cub in his arms, and then remained motionless like a statue.
It wasn't until a faint, childish "quack" sound rang out that it took a deep look at Iseria and then at the "Heisenberg Pharmacy" before jumping back into the "water passage".
Iseria rested her chin on her hand, smiled, and waved at the frogman's retreating figure.
The pharmacy had been open for less than half a month, and the area around it had already become lively, showing signs of becoming a "second entertainment district".
Sometimes the ratmen would leave a few precious fresh nuts on the counter, and the frogmen would put two dried fish on top of them—although they would all be quietly returned by Yunevo in the end.
There were also alchemists who, whenever they came to collect their medicine, would conveniently help repair the counter and lay down a waterproof tarpaulin roof...
Lao Liu and Yunevo sat in the shop. Lao Liu didn't complain about Yunevo's "extravagant" behavior. Instead, he grinned and said, "We're rich, we can afford to waste time!"
Iseria listened quietly from behind, occasionally revealing a smile.
She didn't mind the place's dirtiness; on the contrary, she saw a different kind of "purity" here.
Moreover, Yonivore told her...
There might be an even more spectacular "fireworks" show before the start of the school year.
