Reborn in America: I Have an Equipment Slot
Chapter 91 Blood Gang
"Buddy, don't just look at the outside, I've also put a lot of effort into the interior of the RV."
After regaining his composure, Dodge pulled out the car keys and handed them to Owen, a smug look on his face. "To tell you the truth, I put a lot of effort into this renovation and repair, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied..."
Irving took the key and opened the RV door. He was immediately shocked by what he saw as soon as he entered.
The interior of the RV has been completely renovated and looks almost brand new.
It has all kinds of new appliances, such as induction cookers and ovens. Even the sofa in the living area, which used to look a bit worn, has now been transformed into a genuine leather sofa, which looks very expensive.
Irving sat on the sofa in the living room, with a television set up directly opposite him, which was playing the recently popular "Wilderness" winter season.
Irving watched the show, and the content was quite exciting. Eight challengers were parachuted into the Siberian wilderness, each carrying only a limited number of pieces of equipment, to survive for 100 days.
The challengers are all incredibly skilled. There's a fisherman whose hands cramp from fishing so much, and a starving maniac who can go days without food or water. The toughest of them all is a ruthless individual who dares to fight a bison with a knife. If you persevere to the end, you can win a million-dollar reward.
To be honest, after seeing the program, Kyrie Irving was instantly itching to play.
He now possesses numerous skills and has a legal identity; if he were to participate in a competition, he might actually win a million-dollar prize.
Just as Irving was lost in thought, Dodge, already high on drugs, swayed over and pulled out a contract.
Irving took the contract and glanced at it. A large part of the contract was about the maintenance and upkeep of the RV, how much effort Dodge had put in and how much it had cost.
For example, there are various items such as replacing tires, rims, batteries, and filling scratches, each with its own separate quote.
"Dude, what do you mean?" Irving glanced at the contract.
Upon seeing a clause at the end of the contract stipulating that he had to sell the RV to the other party for $90,000 within three years, he immediately slammed the contract on the table in front of him impatiently. "I didn't say I had to sell the RV to you within three years, did I?"
Seeing Irving's assertive attitude, Dodge hesitated for a moment before saying, "Brother, it's not my idea, it's my father's idea."
"I don't care whose intentions it is, you're just a repair shop. So, you think you can force me to sell you the car within three years just because you fix some things and refurbish the interior? Isn't that forced selling?"
Seeing Dodge shrug his shoulders, looking like a shrewd businessman, Owen felt a little annoyed.
So all that talk last week was just a joke to fool him?
Although refurbishing the RV would cost a lot of money, at least tens of thousands of dollars, Irving didn't think that was a reason for the other party to take advantage of him.
Just as the atmosphere became a little awkward, a young white man dressed in a car mechanic uniform rushed over.
"Boss, this is bad! Those Blood Gang bastards are here again to collect protection money!"
"Oh, shit!"
Upon hearing the words "Blood Gang," Dodge, who had been feeling smug and unsteady on his feet, snapped to attention. His face immediately turned grim, and he hurriedly jumped out of the RV and headed towards the repair shop entrance.
Seeing this, Owen, who was sitting to the side, frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and then followed.
I just arrived at the front yard of the repair shop.
Irving then saw several painted Ford F-150 Raptor pickup trucks suddenly drive into the repair shop, their beds filled with all sorts of things, looking like they had just received a delivery.
The car drove straight through the repair shop gate and all the way to the repair workshop.
As soon as the train came to a stop, several shady-looking Black men jumped out of the carriage.
The group was dressed in different colored hip-hop outfits and loose jeans, with thick gold chains around their necks that were thicker than dog leashes.
Just as Irving was wondering, he saw one of the men pull a folding knife out of his pocket, chew gum, and saunter into the repair shop.
"Hey guys, what are you doing here again?"
Seeing them enter, Dodge quickly stepped forward, barely containing his anger, and shouted, "I've already told you, we've paid our protection money. Please don't bother us again! Otherwise, I really will call the police!"
"Paid protection money? Yo, Bro, are you kidding me?"
The black man wielding a folding knife sneered, then shouted, "Our Blood Gang only took over this place two days ago, how could we have paid protection money?"
"Want to call the police? Go ahead, I'll make sure your repair shop has no business at all! Then you can't come crying to me like a bitch, begging me to be sorry!"
As soon as the leader of the Black men finished speaking, his companions around him burst into mocking laughter.
"F**K, you really think I'm afraid of you!!" Dodge, feeling humiliated by the mockery, cursed and then tried to make a move.
The repairman nearby saw this and quickly stopped him.
"Boss, calm down, calm down!"
"Yeah, there are a lot of these gangsters. If we mess with them, they'll definitely bring a bunch of people to block the entrance of our repair shop one of these days."
"I think we should pay protection money... Compared to business, how much is protection money?"
"..."
After several of his employees stopped him, Dodge calmed down and took a deep breath.
Because he was high, he was only focused on being angry and didn't consider the consequences of the conflict with the other party.
After standing there for a moment, he hesitated for a moment before looking at the leader of the black men, gritting his teeth, and asking, "How much is the protection fee for your Blood Gang... per month?"
"Dude, that's more like it!"
Seeing that Dodge's attitude had softened, the black man immediately became enthusiastic, put away his folding knife, took out a receipt from his pocket, and said cheerfully, "Our Blood Gang is much more legitimate than that second-rate Hellfire gang. We only charge $1000 a month in protection fees!"
"Don't worry, this $1000 will not only ensure your repair shop can operate normally and be free from harassment by homeless people on the streets, but we will also proactively provide you with some business..."
Before the black man could finish speaking, Dodge suppressed the urge to curse, took out a $1000 cash check from his wallet, and handed it to him.
The black man wearing a large gold chain received the cash check, glanced at the amount, and left with a grin.
Before leaving, he waved to Dodge and greeted him warmly, "Hey buddy, we're off! Have a great day!"
Seeing the other party swagger away, Dodge could only shake his head helplessly and then let out a long sigh.
It wasn't until now that Irving realized that this was how the street gangs in Miami collected protection money from shops.
